    Hi Treecko, thanks for the tips! I am glad that you mentioned (7:06) that after getting the aqueduct it is essential to stop building new settlements in random places. I have seen players killing their aqueduct this way. For example not having the 9 and then building on a 9-brick. Congratulations! Instead of getting a resource of your choice, from now on you'll getting a brick. Enjoy your victory point!

      Regarding the consequences of losing the initial city, it's a huge step-back that you can sometimes overcome by expanding quickly to high producing spots. Here is a recent example: ruclips.net/video/AeSlguQZgmk/видео.html

      That's a way, and I think another way is 'saving-up for the city loss', so when the City is destroyed, you immediately build the next one.

    Can’t find the answer anywhere so does anyone know if metropolis’s add to the barbarian strength? For example, there are 4 cities on the board with 1 city having a metropolis. Is the barbarian strength 4, for the 4 cities, or 5, for the 4 cities and 1 metropolis? Furthermore, if that city with a metropolis is sacked down to a settlement, is the strength now 4, for the 3 cities and 1 metropolis, or 3, for just the 3 cities?
    One other question I have is before the first barbarian attack when a 7 is rolled we instead move the barbarian ship towards Catan along the track. If the black ship is rolled as well as a 7, do we move the black ship 2 steps towards Catan? And after the first attack, do we still move it 2 steps to Catan if the black ship is rolled with a 7?

    • @Treeckosaurus
      @Treeckosaurus  3 года назад +1

      It doesn't add to the barbarian strength; it just counts as one city.
      Metros can't be sacked by Barbarians
      Only move the ship when the Barbarian is rolled, not when a 7 is rolled

    You're suggesting just getting to Level 1 in each city development (trade, politics and science) except for the one you're going to get the metropolis out of?
    That seems bizarre as you need progress cards to win the game, they make such a difference.

    • @Treeckosaurus
      @Treeckosaurus  4 года назад +1

      I'm saying that's the best in terms of price-reward ratio. Every game is different and requires different details to win. And I'm certainly not saying that shouldn't get progress cards, I know they're very strong.

    • @kyle1195
      @kyle1195 2 года назад

      I mean unless you get the 2 for 1 commodity port at best your making 3 for 1 trades with them. So unless you have the two for one ability you might be better served to continue to upgrade your chart and increase your odds since commodity cards don’t have any other uses. I think that advice might come in handy when for example your considering a 3 for 1 trade in order to make a city improvement that isn’t necessary to make a metropolis. You might be better served to get a rare resource or even take advantage of the two for one commodity port assuming you have it to place a settlement for example.

  • @shaquilleroberts2142
    @shaquilleroberts2142 4 года назад

    Should I build a fourth settlement or get a city?

    • @Treeckosaurus
      @Treeckosaurus  4 года назад +3

      Hi Shaquille! That always depends on the situation on the board. In general getting a City is better in C&K, because you get commodities and you can upgrade the city calendar.
      On top of that, your first two settlements are usually placed on the best numbers. So doubling the producing on your best spot gives you way more cards than building a settlement on a new spot.
      There are a few exceptions of course: the spot can be really good, you must get that spot before someone else does (from a strategic perspective), you need to build on a port or you need to gain a certain resource.
      Does this answer your question?

      the player with the next lowest contribution of knight power has to demote a city.
      i.e. Barbarians have a strength of 5
      p1 contributes 2 knight points
      p2 contributes 1 knight point
      p3 contributes 1 knight point
      p4 contributes 0 knight points but has 0 cities
      in this case both p2 and p3 would have to demote a city instead of p4

      I am not sure of this, but isn't deserter a quite rare progress card? When we play cities and knights this card only steals a knight, but does not effect the other players. But we also invest a lot in knights. On a different note: I thought deserter allowed the player who played the card to steal any knight he wants from whoever he wants. So you would always steal the highest ranked knight
