the best thing i have found for replacement pins like that is to get a drill bit with the same diameter and cut the shaft area to length. drill bits are very hard and take more abuse than most factory pins.
Once you own the lst for a while you figure out how to remove the Trans with minimal effort, I just have to remove the screws holding mine on, pull the front drive cup and linkages and it comes right out the top of the truck
Great video. This will help me fix this truck as to why it has stopped running despite the fact that the engine is running. Bought this vehicle used but previous owner showed me that the truck is running. Am new to land RC. I fly electric helicopters and know how to repair them. This one is entirely different. Thanks.
I starting with gas trucks around "99" my experiences have taught me that the large tires equal a large rotating mass controlled by small metal shafts that are breakfast to large jumps and flips,I moved over to eighth scale around "06"smaller tires less rotating mass = less strain on those small metal shafts ,I am considering a losi db xl ,also loosing up on that slipper clutch and landing those jumps cleaner will reduce wear and part breakage good luck and God bless.
As soon as you pulled it apart, I saw the broken pin on the output shaft to the center drive shafts. All those pins in there looks like a lot of weak spots to me. I would weld them up, and make them solid. It has a slipper clutch, so you can make the adjustments via that so you won't tear anything up on the drive train.
I guess all stuff has issues and I have seen this one take some serious tumbles during many videos,So to me a single pin to fix is just plain old bad luck lol. I know in a previous statement you said this is 1 of your favorite items, Has that changed or is frustration kicking in. I will be ordering mine soon and hope I dont run into many issues but guess that part of the hobby stuff. Good luck and keep the videos flowing
Nope still one of my favorites, the pin really isn't much of an issue just taking this thing apart is complex compared to other r/c's I have owned. I still think it is the most exciting and it is very reliable otherwise. I just need to get some new gas and it should run great again.
R/C Addict Makuloco I can't wait I found R/co solutions might have a roll cage for this.I have sent them a message to see.I know it will add weight due to alumiinum build but may be worth it ltr on- Good luck and again I cant wait get mine
Hi there, I'm a new subscriber and you have a great channel. I've heard that these things have a few problems. djmedic's XXL 2 has broken as well. From what I saw on Facebook, the engine blew up on him. Me thinks they released these a bit too early without testing them properly??? Anyway, great channel, keep up the good work.
The very first production run is always going to have some problems. It'll take a year or 2 for the company to update materials or designs when they bring out a completely new platform. The LST line isn't new, but this extended chassis and gas powered platform is.
Yeah, me too till last year. The savage xl octane is very cool looking, sounds amazing! I don't own one, so I can't comment on durability, or possible issues. Good luck bro!
I have a Savage x 4.6 special edition. It dosent even have 6 runs on it. An the the whole gear box. Blew apart an then I got that. Fixed then I lost rear drive. Along with numerous electric glitches. I'm about done with it. Major disappointment.!
I'm just curious, why buy an entire new transmission if it's just a part that failed on the output shaft. I know it's nice to always have an extra transmission for these larger vehicles but something so small to replace an entire transmission.
hey i am having the same problem but a little different i am getting output it will move but is stopping suddenly and grinding a bit but am having trouble getting the trans out once i have undone all screws any help would be greatly appreciated
I have the same one but mine is electronic I have a problem with mine I don't know if you have an answer but I'll tell you what's wrong with it... when I push it to to it won't go the only thing that moves is the gears
Thanks for the great channel. I still drive an XXL2e in Jan 2020. I would love to replace the transmission with a center diff. Are you aware of any kit to do that? Or, maybe some mod instructions?
Been out of the hobby for a long time. Seems like these RTR kits are a pain to take apart? What happened to being able to taking it apart quickly and replace what's broken? Is that only with competition or race only kits? Thanks
It has nothing to do with it being an RTR. It's just the structure of modern RCs have more detailed components, more reinforcements, etc. Some trucks are rather easy to work on, like an entry level 2wd or a a Traxxas Slash 4x4. In my experience, monster trucks in general are a bit harder to work on and take more drivetrain abuse. Especially since this is a gas powered truck with disk brakes, clutch, 2 speed transmission and other special parts. This is far from entry level, and is recommended for people who have experience and don't mind getting dirty while working on RCs.
What a odd thing to fail. Losi should have worked a bit harder on this one. It seems like a lot of people are have weird things like this break. What a hassle.
Not sure it has it's quirks for sure but when it's running it is the greatest rc I own. I would say I would buy it again if it wasn't so much for sure, used maybe.

Ron Fisher Good info!

Check your slipper clutch settings. It is suppost to prevent this sort of failure from happening.

jack vandervort Yeah it seems if the strong body is on there isn't a problem per se but once off it cracks the chassis.

Wish they made a gas powered Savage X , i have a nitro Savage x and they are tough as hell compare to other nitro trucks i have owned .

Matthew Fant Good to know thanks , kind been out of the hobby for awhile

evan002 What a hassle is right that sums up this truck very well I am ready for a giveaway video!
Lol... I'm glad your honest about it. And a giveaway video sounds good to me!
So you've had this for a while now and quite a few issues. Would you recommend it? Thanks.
