It’s okay for Halo: Infinite to have REASONABLE microtransactions in its FREE-TO-PLAY multiplayer. It’s NOT okay for the Master Chief Collection to have ANY microtransactions because it ISN’T FREE-TO-PLAY. Diablo Immortal has UNREASONABLE microtransactions DESPITE being free-to-play. This isn’t rocket science people.
Miranda makes good points but I'm still with Destin on the microtransactions topic. Yes, companies can do more than one thing at a time, but this MCC spartan points thing is coming at a time when 343's reputation has been at a near-all time low with their constant delays. The impression of "co-op, forge, season 3 are still months away, but here are some new microtransactions for an older game" is just terrible PR towards an already frustrated gamer base.
Gamepass is a console seller for people who play in console only. Series S is also a great entry point for the current gen with great availability and user friendliness. Great job by xbox.

One good thing that might help Tony Hawk Pro Skater and similar dormant IPs is Phil Spencer stated he's actively working to have more family friendly/kid friendly games on Xbox. Crash Bandicoot, Tony Hawk and other E-rated IPs fit this bill to a tee. So, the chances of them bringing them back have increased due to Phil's initiative.
I think that Destin is really good at seeing what consumer friendly practices could become, even if it's friendly or not. Also if the diablo 4 has predatory gaming practices, then Microsoft could get some real kudos with fans by delaying the game to resolve these issues.
Literally doesn’t mean anything when Xbox consoles are readily available and PS5 consoles are completely sold out. If Xbox is selling and PlayStation is left on shelves then there’s a point to be made, but that’s not the case.
@Frosty Not saying it is Microsoft’s issue, I’m saying you cannot say Xbox “outsold” PS5 over a period of time when nobody could buy a PS5. It’s not like people are choosing Xbox, they probably don’t have a choice.
One aspect that may be helping Xbox in Japan is there is a whole new generation of Japanese gamers who have power to buy whatever they want compared to previous generations that had a lot of resentment toward MS and other Western companies who often treated the Japanese game market as "lesser than" compared to their own markets. MS infamously tried to buy Nintendo, and was laughed out of the conference room, forcing them to invent the Xbox. That kind of disdain can linger for one generation, but not the next, 20 years later. This is where I think Japan is now in terms of whose buying consoles + MS marketing and offering a wider variety of games that make Xbox more appealing.

I’ve participated in a great Mykhel transaction system that wasn’t purely cosmetic. Go back several years now and look at Mass Effect 3 ME3 for short. They never dreamed that their online multiplayer would be something people would like it was a loot box system. Here was the catch it was all random but you could either play multiplayer which was fun beyond fun we played it for hundreds of hours as fans and earn points the regular way or if you wanted to you could spend a few bucks and open some crates. Depending on what you got you might change your total play style for the next several 10s of hours. The thing was there was so much content that you could unlock and an overwhelming majority of it improved your overall profile your overall character you could build that we kept playing. EA never dreamed this what happened it was a multiplayer thing they just put in place to expand the original game it literally became the money maker for them it made more money than the original game and we didn’t feel compelled to do anything. I can honestly say I only spent maybe $30 total but I spent hundreds of hours playing that game online when I was playing bronze, silver, gold or eventually when they put platinum up as a round you could play. When they added new maps it was free when they added new adversaries it was free. Micro transactions don’t have to be a bad thing but they have to be done the right way they don’t have to be purely cosmetic we’ve seen systems were micro transactions that are not purely cosmetic or want it and I don’t think Destin is right to automatically Sean any set of Mykhel transactions before he experiences the system they will be within.
You guys are saying that mcc should be supported for more 20 years, after being supported for 8. How are they supposed to that? No other game gets supporter for this long, Destiny 1 was full price had mtx and didn't last that long...
I honestly have no issue with microtransactions so long as they don't impact gameplay and if there is a reasonable way to unlock the content by playing the game. People with kids can't necessarily grind for too long, people coming late might want something, or maybe someone just wants to skip the line. Who cares?
The problem is, is that the studios are making them effect gameplay and its snowballing as more and more ferment and spread as years go by and people are more apathetic...cause you can say as long as they dont affect gameplay but they are and its getting more common...people need to stop supporting even cosmetic crap too

There is ABSOLUTELY a market for THPS 3+4. Theres been a surge in skating games these last few years with skate coming in a few years as well. Vicarious Vision knocked 1+2 out of the park. They played like newer tony hawk games but still kept true to the original titles. What even is Vicarious Visons working on rn? Skins, maps for COD? If anybody is going to make a reboot of any future THPS games it should be them 100%

If 343 genuinely cared about newcomers being able to unlock new gear, they would just halve the grind. It’s clear they’re just trying to make a quick buck.
Do you know how much content is in the MCC right now? A LOT. If they reduced the "grind" [read: fun] you would unlock way too many items way too quickly to the point you wouldn't even use 90% of them. It's good for games to meter out content at a reasonable and not too fast rate. If you want something specific then MTX will be a good way to get that item quickly. I see no problem here.
Exactly. The number of ps5’s sold are way more than the series x. Meanwhile ign is hyping it up because it reached a certain number this month, from a year ago release. But I know destin is the one responsible for that title. The guys channel is all about Xbox and how their selling more units in a specific month, without taking into account the amount of units Sony already sold since it’s release, and still have a difficult time producing units due to the high demand.

They should just admit that the ps5 strategy of not getting enough consoles failed big time for playstation 800 $. It is simply not worth more than 399 $ at this time without any shortage. Series S and switch saved the day for consoles.

I'm sorry but comparing MCC possible microtransactions to Diablo Immortal isn't a good take at all. Only skins cosmetics isn't comparable at all to pay2win. MCC has been out for 8 years and keeps getting free content for so long. How are they supposed to make money of MCC after so long and keep adding free content? Also completely different teams work on cosmetic vs forge or co-op. It's really annoying when people say in response to shop items "what about co-op?".
That Tony Hawk ideas or just a skateboard game that generates its own content sounds really good. You build the game and you allow people to create their own content they literally should do it like they do flight simulator allow people to create their own content and if they get enough hits for their content pay them for it because it ultimately keeps people engrossed in your game it keeps people engrossed in GamePass
I think there’s a difference between “gameplay” and a “game experience”. Yes, cosmetic transactions do not affect “gameplay”, as in the moment-to-moment interactions between the player and the game. But when I see a cool cosmetic that I want and realize I can only get it through an additional purchase, that is negatively affecting my experience with the game. I hope we can eventually get to the point where we realize that a game is more than its gameplay, and micro-transactions almost always make the overall game experience worse.
Regarding the MCC microtransactions. The reality is that if you play the MCC casually for whatever reason (for example backlog), the season pass in MCC is mind-numbing in its current state. The challenges are only weekly and I personally don't enjoy the PvP as much as I used to, especially because of how good Halo Infinite feels in PvP. I don't know if it's a good idea to have microtransactions, but I would rather they update the challenge system. Maybe daily challenges. I do realize that there are people that play the MCC a lot, but that isn't everyone.
I’m an all console and pc guy. I have sons and I game too so I’ve got the issue that my two oldest play both major consoles. My younger plays a lot of switch. I like pc gaming but I’m not always a fan of sitting at the pc desk so I like to play couch gaming in the living room. So my opinion comes from thay place. I love this gen. It’s gonna push gaming forward so damn far that it’s been really good. The series x was last gens only Xbox “win”. They where still losing but the console was solid and powerful enough. But when one provider dominates the entire space I feel it. I did last gen. Xbox didn’t do anything to make me want to boot it up. Why would I. But game pass did pull me back once it took off. But !! It wasn’t enough for me to feel the value that ps4 was giving me. I love this gen. As a gamer it gets me excited that all my gaming spaces will be viable. Anyway I’m off to play god of war as I didn’t get to it and with the new one coming out I want to get it down. I love u all

Japan is a country where the Xbox Ecosystem really makes sense. You can get the most affordable Next-Gen console with all the First-Party titles for a low-cost subscription. Japan is a country with lightning fast internet connection. Combine that with a lot of people who travel for hours every day Game Pass Ultimate is perfect. Take your console experience with you on the go and continue when your at home again. Also lot of Japanese titles coming day 1 to Game Pass like Persona 5 Royale/4Golden/3Portable, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and new Kojima game.

What’s funny is I game on all platforms and almost never spend anything on microtransactions. It’s not on a business to decide to make less money. It’s on parents and individuals to be smart with their money or become successful enough not to have to worry about their spending. It’s the whales and big spenders that allow people like me and you to play for free.
Really appreciate Destin bringing to light the disgusting, predatory microtransactions in Diablo Immortal and other games. Unfortunately, I do see Halo Infinite eventually applying this after testing it through the Master Chief Collection. Would love to continue seeing more of these deep discussions between the panel.
Not sure if this is sarcasm or you missed it but they didn't acknowledge production issues for Playstation in the video could also be contributing to this. Doesn't mean it's the only factor though.
I'm with Destin on Microtransactions. Imagine if the movie industry had a base 90-minute version and for every $2.99 you spend you can get another 5-10 minutes of content fleshing out the story. Remember how annoying the pre-order & bonus content debacle was ten years ago where you got different portions of the game depending on where you bought it?
There are several reasons why Microsoft is able to get more consoles to the customers than Sony. 1. Sony's processors need more silicon 2. The chip manufactors are able to produce more processors for the Xbox than for the PS5 due to the fact, that more Xbox chips fit on the chip wafers than PS5 chips 3. Hence for AMD Microsoft is a much more profitable customer than Sony (not merely because of the Xbox, but also PC and all other devices), which is the reason, that Microsoft gets the priority
Its about the design choices. Sony chose to address the bottle neck with custom sillicon, whereas MS solution is the velocity Architecture, half of which is at the software level, the other half is a decompression chip and an NVME ssd which is more closer to PC. Both solutions solve the bottleneck very well but seems the situation has not been kind to the choice Sony went with
Some details, Sony addresses the system bottleneck with a Custom Flash Controller, some IO Complex components on the Main chip: Kraken decompression (9 Zen 2 cores), Dedicated DMA Controller (1 zen 2 core), 2 IO Coprocessors (unknown core no.), On Chip RAM, Coherency Engine. Apart from that, theres dedicated sillicon for the Tempest engine.
Also, I think Sony choice to go with GPU boost clock over additional CU might also be a factor. Where the higher clock speed a chip needs to guaranteed, the more difficult to produce and the chip will generate more heat due to higher clock speed, which explains why the PS5 design is so big. Its about sillicon lottery. I’m not saying whether going with more core or boost clock is better though. Both has its benefits in different scenarios, use cases

There also has something to do with the overclocking like the last commentator mentioned here. Also natural catastrophes have had an impact on the chip manufacturers, like the drought for TSMC in Taiwan, the Snow storm in Texas or the fire damage in AKM Japan
About the microtransaction discussion: Sure it's business, but you know, no consumer should justify a company's business practices. Don't do their job for them. These companies are the ones who should work to convince us to buy in to their practices. Sure, as consumer, you can justify your decision to buy in their practices, but it's a mistake to normalize those practices for other people, because we always have the power to choose. As consumers, we ought to know that we have the power to choose. If consumers choose to feed bad business practices, the industry will continue to produce services that utilizes those business practices for revenue. What's important is actually educating people and kids, about the relatively healthy vs the predatory type. They industry will always figure out a new way to get money out of us, so don't worry about developers not eating or stop making game if microtransaction is dead. They will move on to other practices, maybe collect our biometric data while we play games. Then any games could be free, at least you won't have to give your money to them, you will pay with your data instead. But even then, we still have the choice to play games that does it or not.
last I heard in japan playstation sold 1.7 million ps5s and xbox sold around 200k 🤣 it's easy beating a system one week when the other system hasn't actually released any consoles in the same week lol. if xbox are so proud of their numbers why won't they tell us how many series s and x systems have been sold in total? or how many concurrent gamepass subs they have?
Amusing to watch Xbox fans try to creative their narratives about the Japan sales. The only takeaway is Xbox outsold Sony because Sony couldn't make enough. The only positive I guess for Xbox is Japan doesn't totally hate Xbox now and are willing to pick up a budget next gen console if they can't get a playstation. Xbox got the biggest gift ever by Sony not being able to produce enough consoles. If Sony wasn't supply constraint sales globally would be at least 3:1. I agree with Destin to a point I more agree with Miranda if don’t want it then don’t buy it but if I want to spend my money on a cool skin in Halo infinite then I will. You can already buy levels in the battle pass in Halo Infinite and also PvP is free in Halo Infinite, so if your buying skins your probably playing multiplayer. Also you can earn things for free in Halo Infinite, in the battle pass there is a free section and if you buy the battle pass you unlock the paid things. Also the Fracture event is completely free you level up the event pass by playing and completing task could it be better one hundred percent but the seasonal events are free and you do earn new cores and armor sets.

the console in japan only sells well compared to Sony and this only happened in the last week, the sales figures are still ridiculous compared to those of switch that literally dominates, it is impossible to find an xbox title in the japanese top 30, usually they are 27 / 28 switch titles and occasionally something on playstation
"Didn't really work out" Microsoft sold Kinect data to the NSA. With all due respect to Stella Chung and the rest of the unlocked team, we shouldn't forget about this.
When Microsoft acquired Bethesda they did force changes to Zenimax Online Studio's Elder Scrolls Online store. After more than 5000 hours playing the game, I've yet to find pay-to-win or predatory items in their store, they mostly sell convenience stuff or cosmetic items like mounts, costumes, housing to display trophies, etc. And despite being a 'normal' store, Microsoft still pushed ZOS to make their cosmetics available through normal gameplay, so ZOS created the "seals of endeavors", a currency you earn by simply playing the game (doing quests, defeating bosses, completing dungeons) and then you can exchange for items from the store. I personally don't mind Diablo Immortal's approach, I just simply don't buy that stuff and just play the game, but I'm certain that Microsoft will at least look at it and re-evaluate the decisions made, once they take over, just as they did with ZOS once the Bethesda acquisition went through.
Both consoles are selling as soon as they're delivered. Obviously Sony isn't concerned about losing Japan so they're shipping most of their consoles to the USA. A slow Xbox news week to title this episode that.

I believe sells don't really exist for newest consoles. It took me months to compete with bots. I'm sure people still using them on consoles even though, it's useless by now. They all sell the same, it is just in someone's storage that's not an official retailer.

My series x is on its side. Only because of space constraints though Microsoft may have some overlap in parts which may let them order more at once. For instance the ssd in the surface laptop is also used in the Xbox. Another weird coincidence Microsoft has a AMD surface for the first time just as they need more chips 🤔
i think overwatch has one of the best systems 99% of items you can unlock wby just playing the game i bought the game 6 years ago and they have been adding things for free over that period

As an NBA 2K player and GTA Online player who has never spent a dime on Sharkcards or 2K currency, and have maxed out my character in each game, the Halo MCC micro transactions are no big deal. That game has been out for forever and you can earn the cosmetics through gameplay. New players to that game might want a specific cosmetic out the gate and if they want to pay for it, let them. As long as they still allow other players to unlock them in game who cares? Also, thank you to the people out here buying Sharkcards which are paying for all of this free GTA Online content! GTA4 I paid for both DLC add ons at $30 a piece and the Online never got any meaningful updates. While GTA 5 Online has received more content than I can keep up with. #MakeSteelBattalion2Happen

One good thing that might help Tony Hawk Pro Skater and similar dormant IPs is Phil Spencer stated he's actively working to have more family friendly/kid friendly games on Xbox. Crash Bandicoot, Tony Hawk and other E-rated IPs fit this bill to a tee. So, the chances of them bringing them back have increased due to Phil's initiative.
Battlefield 4 is still awesome and people still play it. You can get into a lobby pretty quick still
I think that Destin is really good at seeing what consumer friendly practices could become, even if it's friendly or not. Also if the diablo 4 has predatory gaming practices, then Microsoft could get some real kudos with fans by delaying the game to resolve these issues.
I wish more people realized the Xbox Series X is better than the PS5, but people aren't ready for that conversation yet.
Literally doesn’t mean anything when Xbox consoles are readily available and PS5 consoles are completely sold out. If Xbox is selling and PlayStation is left on shelves then there’s a point to be made, but that’s not the case.

One aspect that may be helping Xbox in Japan is there is a whole new generation of Japanese gamers who have power to buy whatever they want compared to previous generations that had a lot of resentment toward MS and other Western companies who often treated the Japanese game market as "lesser than" compared to their own markets. MS infamously tried to buy Nintendo, and was laughed out of the conference room, forcing them to invent the Xbox. That kind of disdain can linger for one generation, but not the next, 20 years later. This is where I think Japan is now in terms of whose buying consoles + MS marketing and offering a wider variety of games that make Xbox more appealing.

I’ve participated in a great Mykhel transaction system that wasn’t purely cosmetic. Go back several years now and look at Mass Effect 3 ME3 for short. They never dreamed that their online multiplayer would be something people would like it was a loot box system. Here was the catch it was all random but you could either play multiplayer which was fun beyond fun we played it for hundreds of hours as fans and earn points the regular way or if you wanted to you could spend a few bucks and open some crates. Depending on what you got you might change your total play style for the next several 10s of hours. The thing was there was so much content that you could unlock and an overwhelming majority of it improved your overall profile your overall character you could build that we kept playing. EA never dreamed this what happened it was a multiplayer thing they just put in place to expand the original game it literally became the money maker for them it made more money than the original game and we didn’t feel compelled to do anything. I can honestly say I only spent maybe $30 total but I spent hundreds of hours playing that game online when I was playing bronze, silver, gold or eventually when they put platinum up as a round you could play. When they added new maps it was free when they added new adversaries it was free. Micro transactions don’t have to be a bad thing but they have to be done the right way they don’t have to be purely cosmetic we’ve seen systems were micro transactions that are not purely cosmetic or want it and I don’t think Destin is right to automatically Sean any set of Mykhel transactions before he experiences the system they will be within.

Is not yet common on consoles but there are a lot of games on PC that have been alive and supported for 20 years or close to it.
I honestly have no issue with microtransactions so long as they don't impact gameplay and if there is a reasonable way to unlock the content by playing the game. People with kids can't necessarily grind for too long, people coming late might want something, or maybe someone just wants to skip the line. Who cares?
The problem is, is that the studios are making them effect gameplay and its snowballing as more and more ferment and spread as years go by and people are more apathetic...cause you can say as long as they dont affect gameplay but they are and its getting more common...people need to stop supporting even cosmetic crap too

There is ABSOLUTELY a market for THPS 3+4. Theres been a surge in skating games these last few years with skate coming in a few years as well. Vicarious Vision knocked 1+2 out of the park. They played like newer tony hawk games but still kept true to the original titles.

Do you know how much content is in the MCC right now? A LOT. If they reduced the "grind" [read: fun] you would unlock way too many items way too quickly to the point you wouldn't even use 90% of them. It's good for games to meter out content at a reasonable and not too fast rate. If you want something specific then MTX will be a good way to get that item quickly. I see no problem here.

Exactly. The number of ps5’s sold are way more than the series x. Meanwhile ign is hyping it up because it reached a certain number this month, from a year ago release. The guys channel is all about Xbox and how their selling more units in a specific month, without taking into account the amount of units Sony already sold since it’s release, and still have a difficult time producing units due to the high demand.

They should just admit that the ps5 strategy of not getting enough consoles failed big time for playstation 800 $. It is simply not worth more than 399 $ at this time without any shortage. Series S and switch saved the day for consoles.

I'm sorry but comparing MCC possible microtransactions to Diablo Immortal isn't a good take at all. Only skins cosmetics isn't comparable at all to pay2win. MCC has been out for 8 years and keeps getting free content for so long. How are they supposed to make money of MCC after so long and keep adding free content?
Also completely different teams work on cosmetic vs forge or co-op. It's really annoying when people say in response to shop items "what about co-op?".
That Tony Hawk ideas or just a skateboard game that generates its own content sounds really good. You build the game and you allow people to create their own content they literally should do it like they do flight simulator allow people to create their own content and if they get enough hits for their content pay them for it because it ultimately keeps people engrossed in your game it keeps people engrossed in GamePass
I think there’s a difference between “gameplay” and a “game experience”. Yes, cosmetic transactions do not affect “gameplay”, as in the moment-to-moment interactions between the player and the game. But when I see a cool cosmetic that I want and realize I can only get it through an additional purchase, that is negatively affecting my experience with the game. I hope we can eventually get to the point where we realize that a game is more than its gameplay, and micro-transactions almost always make the overall game experience worse.
PS5 chips probably need more scrutiny because of the overclocking, resulting in fewer chips available.

Regarding the MCC microtransactions. The reality is that if you play the MCC casually for whatever reason (for example backlog), the season pass in MCC is mind-numbing in its current state. The challenges are only weekly and I personally don't enjoy the PvP as much as I used to, especially because of how good Halo Infinite feels in PvP. I don't know if it's a good idea to have microtransactions, but I would rather they update the challenge system. Maybe daily challenges. I do realize that there are people that play the MCC a lot, but that isn't everyone.
I’m an all console and pc guy. I have sons and I game too so I’ve got the issue that my two oldest play both major consoles. My younger plays a lot of switch. I like pc gaming but I’m not always a fan of sitting at the pc desk so I like to play couch gaming in the living room. So my opinion comes from thay place. I love this gen. It’s gonna push gaming forward so damn far that it’s been really good. The series x was last gens only Xbox “win”. They where still losing but the console was solid and powerful enough. But when one provider dominates the entire space I feel it. I did last gen. Xbox didn’t do anything to make me want to boot it up. Why would I. But game pass did pull me back once it took off. But !! It wasn’t enough for me to feel the value that ps4 was giving me. I love this gen. As a gamer it gets me excited that all my gaming spaces will be viable. Anyway I’m off to play god of war as I didn’t get to it and with the new one coming out I want to get it down. I love u all

Japan is a country where the Xbox Ecosystem really makes sense. You can get the most affordable Next-Gen console with all the First-Party titles for a low-cost subscription.
Japan is a country with lightning fast internet connection. Combine that with a lot of people who travel for hours every day Game Pass Ultimate is perfect. Take your console experience with you on the go and continue when your at home again. Also lot of Japanese titles coming day 1 to Game Pass like Persona 5 Royale/4Golden/3Portable, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and new Kojima game.

What’s funny is I game on all platforms and almost never spend anything on microtransactions. It’s not on a business to decide to make less money. It’s on parents and individuals to be smart with their money or become successful enough not to have to worry about their spending. It’s the whales and big spenders that allow people like me and you to play for free.

Not sure if this is sarcasm or you missed it but they didn't acknowledge production issues for Playstation in the video could also be contributing to this. Doesn't mean it's the only factor though.
I'm with Destin on Microtransactions. Imagine if the movie industry had a base 90-minute version and for every $2.99 you spend you can get another 5-10 minutes of content fleshing out the story. Remember how annoying the pre-order & bonus content debacle was ten years ago where you got different portions of the game depending on where you bought it?
There are several reasons why Microsoft is able to get more consoles to the customers than Sony.
1. Sony's processors need more silicon
2. The chip manufactors are able to produce more processors for the Xbox than for the PS5 due to the fact, that
more Xbox chips fit on the chip wafers than PS5 chips
3. Hence for AMD Microsoft is a much more profitable customer than Sony (not merely because of the Xbox, but also PC and all other devices), which is the reason, that Microsoft gets the priority

Its about the design choices. Sony chose to address the bottle neck with custom sillicon, whereas MS solution is the velocity Architecture, half of which is at the software level, the other half is a decompression chip and an NVME ssd which is more closer to PC. Both solutions solve the bottleneck very well but seems the situation has not been kind to the choice Sony went with
Some details, Sony addresses the system bottleneck with a Custom Flash Controller, some IO Complex components on the Main chip: Kraken decompression (9 Zen 2 cores), Dedicated DMA Controller (1 zen 2 core), 2 IO Coprocessors (unknown core no.), On Chip RAM, Coherency Engine.
Apart from that, theres dedicated sillicon for the Tempest engine.
Also, I think Sony choice to go with GPU boost clock over additional CU might also be a factor. Where the higher clock speed a chip needs to guaranteed, the more difficult to produce and the chip will generate more heat due to higher clock speed, which explains why the PS5 design is so big. Its about sillicon lottery. I’m not saying whether going with more core or boost clock is better though. Both has its benefits in different scenarios, use cases

There also has something to do with the overclocking like the last commentator mentioned here. Also natural catastrophes have had an impact on the chip manufacturers, like the drought for TSMC in Taiwan, the Snow storm in Texas or the fire damage in AKM Japan
About the microtransaction discussion: Sure it's business, but you know, no consumer should justify a company's business practices. Don't do their job for them. These companies are the ones who should work to convince us to buy in to their practices. Sure, as consumer, you can justify your decision to buy in their practices, but it's a mistake to normalize those practices for other people, because we always have the power to choose. As consumers, we ought to know that we have the power to choose. If consumers choose to feed bad business practices, the industry will continue to produce services that utilizes those business practices for revenue. What's important is actually educating people and kids, about the relatively healthy vs the predatory type.
They industry will always figure out a new way to get money out of us, so don't worry about developers not eating or stop making game if microtransaction is dead. They will move on to other practices, maybe collect our biometric data while we play games. Then any games could be free, at least you won't have to give your money to them, you will pay with your data instead. But even then, we still have the choice to play games that does it or not.
last I heard in japan playstation sold 1.7 million ps5s and xbox sold around 200k 🤣 it's easy beating a system one week when the other system hasn't actually released any consoles in the same week lol.

Amusing to watch Xbox fans try to creative their narratives about the Japan sales. The only takeaway is Xbox outsold Sony because Sony couldn't make enough. The only positive I guess for Xbox is Japan doesn't totally hate Xbox now and are willing to pick up a budget next gen console if they can't get a playstation. Xbox got the biggest gift ever by Sony not being able to produce enough consoles. If Sony wasn't supply constraint sales globally would be at least 3:1. Disclaimer I own both PS5 and Series X and I enjoy Gamepass.

I agree with Destin to a point I more agree with Miranda if don’t want it then don’t buy it but if I want to spend my money on a cool skin in Halo infinite then I will. You can already buy levels in the battle pass in Halo Infinite and also PvP is free in Halo Infinite, so if your buying skins your probably playing multiplayer. Also you can earn things for free in Halo Infinite, in the battle pass there is a free section and if you buy the battle pass you unlock the paid things. Also the Fracture event is completely free you level up the event pass by playing and completing task could it be better one hundred percent but the seasonal events are free and you do earn new cores and armor sets.

the console in japan only sells well compared to Sony and this only happened in the last week, the sales figures are still ridiculous compared to those of switch that literally dominates, it is impossible to find an xbox title in the japanese top 30, usually they are 27 / 28 switch titles and occasionally something on playstation

When Microsoft acquired Bethesda they did force changes to Zenimax Online Studio's Elder Scrolls Online store. After more than 5000 hours playing the game, I've yet to find pay-to-win or predatory items in their store, they mostly sell convenience stuff or cosmetic items like mounts, costumes, housing to display trophies, etc. And despite being a 'normal' store, Microsoft still pushed ZOS to make their cosmetics available through normal gameplay, so ZOS created the "seals of endeavors", a currency you earn by simply playing the game (doing quests, defeating bosses, completing dungeons) and then you can exchange for items from the store.
I personally don't mind Diablo Immortal's approach, I just simply don't buy that stuff and just play the game, but I'm certain that Microsoft will at least look at it and re-evaluate the decisions made, once they take over, just as they did with ZOS once the Bethesda acquisition went through.
I love Xbox, but let's not forget that PS5 is still up by about 5 million worldwide units
For now. And MS is doing this without dropping a single game this year.

Honestly I'm not surprised by this,1st you know how hard it is to get a ps5,they don't make enough & the prices are just sad,why would I pay $800-1000 just because Playstation have better games? I do believe Sony is a bigger brand buuuut they really gone have to get it together

It's funny how an entire country is all about gaming and mobility, that anything bigger than a a switch takes up a lot of space but the ps5 sells well so what's really the excuse for not getting an xbox?
As an NBA 2K player and GTA Online player who has never spent a dime on Sharkcards or 2K currency, and have maxed out my character in each game, the Halo MCC micro transactions are no big deal. That game has been out for forever and you can earn the cosmetics through gameplay. New players to that game might want a specific cosmetic out the gate and if they want to pay for it, let them. As long as they still allow other players to unlock them in game who cares?
Also, thank you to the people out here buying Sharkcards which are paying for all of this free GTA Online content! GTA4 I paid for both DLC add ons at $30 a piece and the Online never got any meaningful updates. While GTA 5 Online has received more content than I can keep up with.

I very much hope (although I know it won't) that Halo will be handed over to a more talented team than the 343. They have ruined the brand and the situation only gets worse, Infinite is a disaster, even the celebrities / internet influencers who were hired. to promote it they forgot about its existence after a few weeks 😂
