    I first learned them from Jeff Sturgis I used a long white oak branch they love it as well. Glad to see another ny hunter using this trick.

      I live in north central missouri and I also find
      the white oak branch works just as good if not better.

    maybe you should set up down the hill. Being up on the hill, your scent is going to be carried by thermals in the evening right to where they enter the field where you showed us. Just a thought. Thanks for the video again.

      We actually already have one where you suggested. We made this here because someone requested a video showing us installing one so we figured this is a good spot too

    just wondering if it matters the thickness and length of the vine selected. I've heard 1/2"-3/4" and 6-7 foot long. so the weight of the vine doesn't get blown around in the wind as easy and it's heavy enough for the deer to push its pre orbital gland into. this one seems a little bit thin and not weighty enough. I'm interested to see your results.

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  4 года назад +1

      I like to use 3/4" more or less and the longer it is the heavier it is and looks more natural in the tree. It also kind of depends on how high the limb is it's being hung on . If I have to throw my paracord high into a tree I like to go longer on the vine as it looks more natural, but the longer it is the more difficult it is to transport .
      It's TRUE a little thicker wind is less likely to effect it and it gives a buck something more substantial but really gives seen them use even smaller than half inch vines . I think it's more about the presence and presentation in the right spot. Also want it on level ground. If it looks like the kind of spot you could envision a scrape it should work and in most cases bucks will probably make a scrape under it

    What’s your guys opinion on mechanical assendor for your tether Iam think Iam going to use one for my linesman but think Iam going stick with pursick for tether pursick is a pain on linesman

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  4 года назад

      We actually made a video on this topic check it out
      ruclips.net/video/c-nd_voMnBY/видео.html
      A ascender on your tether can be safe however I think people should at least consider risks to using them in a hunting application the way a saddle hunter does.
      The way I see it is if you dont adjust it under your body weight pressure or fall into it it's safe. However I don't see how you could avoid this.
      Generally speaking its probably not a problem to use however you should just consider the potential and use that information to form your own opinion.
      We suggested for anyone who wants to use it in this application to ask the manufacturer of the ascender you plan to use and see if they approve of its use in that application just to be sure.

    1” to 1 1/2” is better for the sake of not blowing around as much
    This will still work
    I’d like to see a trail cam on this vine and a video with some pics of what’s hitting it
