I second this, there is also “Tales from the warp”. However, they are too young, and have less content. But even if that was not their limit, here it is different. Imagine you’re in the Ultramarines chapter and you follow Roboute Guilliman’s narrated thoughts! Now I don’t even search for a 40k channel for lore, I’ve downloaded with RUclips premium all the videos in case I lack better internet service where I go.

Their technology seems to constantly nullify the effects of the warp and by giving up their souls millennia ago they can no longer be corrupted. I mean the empire is the greatest warring force that can actually fuel Chaos, the greatest source of disease, gluttony and excess, and the greatest source of deceit. Its the culmination of all of the chaos gods in perfect unison. It is truly, chaos undivided.
I like the idea that the Emperor basically made them a deal. Like hey if you destroy us you'll get bored. So why not give me some of your power to keep the game going and more fun. It makes perfect sense. The Emperor's power is from chaos yet opposed to it. The necessary light to illuminate what would otherwise be all consuming darkness.
I always found it pretty suspicious that the one guy who knew more about chaos than any other human alive decided to fight chaos with a massive galaxy spanning slaughter.
Big E would have known about the reason why AI rebelled against us. He would have known that humanity's worst enemy was our very nature. he would know about what the Aldar gave birth to. The Web way was his attempt to turn us into the Dark Aldar. He knew about the warp. He knew his truth was a lie. As a fellow believer of the shaman sacrifice theory, there is nothing that prevents the Emperor from being an entity of the warp insofar as any other chaos being is. However, there is a fundamental difference; the emperor is a god of order. That is why he is called ‘the Anathema’ by daemonic forces. Why his mere presence can harm, kill, or drive them into incoherency. It’s why they fear him, Chaos beings are excess personified. To bend them to order is to destroy them.

One of the points you brought up in the Emperor's return to Molech was his will to gain the favor of Slannesh... Soon after that visit, he grew markedly more concerned with the speed of the Great Crusade. As soon as he was able, he left the Crusade to carry out the Webway Project to "help Humanity". What if he was just sealing his deal with Slannesh and getting her access to the Eldar and Dark Eldar? 🤔
Everchosen is a weird concept when you try to wrap your head around how the power is granted and whether or not it can be taken away once given. I assume the idea is the same in both 40k and AoS because almost everything to do with Chaos is the same between the two. In 40k, we think that chaos gods just abandoned Horus because they feared that The Emperor's psychic blast would somehow destroy them as well as Horus. So it seems like in 40k, the chaos gods can just take the powers back. Meanwhile in Age of Sigmar the Chaos Gods actually tried to kill Archaon because he was reborn as a mortal who was stronger than basically most of the gods in the setting. Scared of his power they sent their champions after him, but he just destroyed the greater daemons sent his way and had his mount absorb their powers. Archaon took that as just a test and kept calling himself the Everchosen and champion of ruinous powers after beating the ever loving shit out of everyone who challenged him, so they basically had to let him be their champion. So clearly, in the case of Archaon, the chaos gods can't take away what they already gave him back when he destroyed the Old World. Does this mean that Horus was never a true Everchosen, or did the Emperor's psychic spell actually drive the chaos out of his soul as he destroyed it, rather than the chaos gods taking the power away willfully? So if Emperor was or is an Everchosen, it would mean that the Chaos Gods can't take his powers away because he at least seems to be their enemy nowadays, The Anathema that all Daemons fear.
I would lean towards the version where their power was driven away since Horus as far as I know is the only instance of this ever happening. Belakor is cannon in both fantasy and 40k and im sure if the gods were able to do so they would have taken away their power from him after he turned out to be a bastard. It is always referred to as the gods giving power to their demons and champions. Not borrowing it.
I was under the impression that the Chaos gods are locked into mutually assured destruction. If one of them removed their power from Archaeon, the other three would see a chance to remove their competition in a 3v1 attack. Horus was about to be eradicated, so there was no reason to maintain a balance of powers.
It's my understanding that the Ruinous powers were using Horus as a host, they hadn't really gifted him a boon per se, and he wasn't ascended. His power and strength were a proxy of their own because he was occupied, possessed, by the ruinous powers. So in his case, they didn't really take his power away, as you state, they left because they feared whatever portion of their power that occupied him, would be destroyed with him. I believe it's established that ascendant demons aren't autonomous, their autonomy and personality is an illusion, even to themselves it seems, as the being that ascends itself is destroyed and remade from a portion of the god in questions power. The ascendent demon is essentially a slither of the god, and its power, the difference in personality seems more of a means to and end of whatever purpose that god intended for that demon to carry out, in a sense its choices and destiny and therefore purpose were pre-planned and it was created to fulfill them, however simple or convoluted that purpose or destiny may be. Even demons of Chaos undivided such as Be'Lakor is said to essentially be a puppet of the ruinous powers, with a private joke between the powers being that Be'Lakor thinks he's autonomous when he really isn't. Which calls into question the nature of Lorgar, who is said to be a demon Primarch of chaos undivided, but given that Be'Lakor doesn't retain his own autonomy, does Lorgar? I guess it depends if Lorgar gave up his original material body or not, which I think seems to be the crux of whether or not you're autonomous, you must retain your original soul and material body and be gifted powers, as opposed to created from said powers. This also seems to fit with Archaon, who was born with his own body and soul, but retained his powers. This rule probably also fits The God Emperor of Mankind, he retained his body and soul, and treated with the ruinous powers for a boon in exchange for something else, perhaps the fallen Primarch's souls? And like Archaon, when he broke whatever deal he struck, they couldn't take his powers away, because they were his powers, because it was his body and his soul that possessed them. Where as Horus was weak, he wasn't gifted a boon, he was possessed and occupied by the Ruinous powers and had powers himself by proxy as a result.
Who thinks that the Chaos gods took their powers back from Horus out of fear of the Emperor somehow being able to destroy all of them at once? Last I read the scene seeing his dad's full might gave Horus just enough strength to resist the control of the four gods just long enough to tell his dad to kill him.

My thought has always been that he never tricked them, he invited them to the one thing they could never turn down, he offered a game. 20 pieces to play, and half would be promised to them but which half they would have to fight for. He knew he needed the powers of chaos to defeat them but he also knew he had to offer something that turned a perfect plan into a gamble, a game.

Hey bro, really enjoy your content, sorry to hear you're suffering from back pain, but fortunately that's something that's WAY more fixable than a lot of people think. Proper exercise can not only relieve the pain, but also strengthen the area dramatically and make it way more resistant to injury in the future. The basic procedure is, 1. Move, get blood flow in the area, basic walking as soon as you're able is very helpful. 2. Strengthen assisting muscles, such as the hamstrings, glutes and abs, (walking lunges, hip thrusts, step ups and planks are great here) and 3. Directly strengthen the low back in a way that causes little or no pain. High rep 45 degree back extensions through whatever range is comfortable is one of the best options here. My personal head Canon is that the emperor was formed by the psykers sacrifice to protect and insure the future of humanity, and when he went into the warp it wasn't for anything of the chaos gods but for a lost corpse or shard of o e of the old ones that gave him the dynamic power boost, maybe he was learning where to look, so to speak with regards to the warp, or gaining enough power so he could claim it over the 30k years or so it took him to get there. I mean if Ganges Kahn could ascend to be a demon prince I doubt it would've taken the emperor that much time and effort to do so himself. Plus I also like the idea I heard of him using his time in the warp to capture lesser warp gods and use them as seeds for his primarchs. Is cool idea.

His true name was forgotten but he murder f*cked so many people that it pleased Khorne. Genghis Bang caused so many people to die that the Earth's temperature dropped by 1 or 2 degrees supposedly. So while not outright saying Genghis is Doombreeds it is implied

Ah, yes. The old deal with the dark powers. My pet theory, which I'm sure'll be disproved soon enough, involves the theft of that knowledge. The deal that the Emperor broke. My thoughts revolve around a couple of questions: what kind of deal did he strike? What kind of theft was it -- in fact, how does one steal from the gods? For question 1, I think it's a classic bargain with demons. And those bargains usually involve one of two trades -- either one's soul (as per the daemon primarchs) -- or one's firstborn. As for question 2, the classic theft from the gods was perpetrated by Prometheus. Taking fire, giving it to mortals. But given how the ruinous powers *want* their stuff in the mortal domain, the better to corrupt the mortals. I think it's more a case of traditional theft -- simply not furnishing the requested payment for their service. "But he did give them his son!" one might say. "Horus was the Warmaster, first in the Emperor's favour. And he fell to Chaos." And sure, he could be described as first. He's pretty primary by that measure. But his legion isn't the first, is it? And is he the first Primarch? Is he really? There *is* a first Primarch, and he seems to be pretty firmly loyal, even after his long nap on the Rock. I suggest that the price the gods wanted to exact was the Lion. (Well, they probably wanted all twenty, you know how Chaos is.) But the Emperor reneged and fobbed them off with Horus. Interestingly enough, the most famous lord of Chaos from Michael Moorcock's fiction was Arioch. Translated as 'a fierce lion.' But that's surely just a coincidence. Or a bit of synchronicity. Morcar was the best! He who also was called Zargon, because he is the only Chaos sorcerer to unite the warriors of Chaos, Orcs, Goblins, Femir, and the undead of both Vampires and Khemri into a single army! At least, that is what HeroQuest tells me 😊
This is a similar theory to what I had. Due to what the term "anathema" actually means, and the fact that the emperor of man made chaos "promises only a god in waiting coul" I always interpreted the emperor was on chaos' side at some point, that he promised to be the chaos gods' avatar in exchange for the knowledge of how to manipulate the warp in the same way they do. Then betrayed them at some point. I also always thought this was part of the reason so many of his colleagues turned on him they realized what he was doing.

@Mr. N It would also give the Saints and the Legion of the Damed a new meaning... one that actually makes a lot of sense... they would be his deamons... they can't die and can use the Warp to teleport at will and it would explain alot in the Lions return... he became one of the Emperors deamon princes.... without truly knowing it. It would explain his long time lying dorment with out him actually conceiving how much time has past, the visions he has, the warp entities he has to fight the forest that should not actually be that he finds himself in wich is like a way shrine through the warp allowing him and others to teleport far distances like the Saints and the Legion also can.

Even though the Emperor has gone by many names including St. George the Dragon slayer, he is rumored to be Alexander the Great and many others. His true name is known only to him. Edit: I think the Emperor is the chosen of the Old Ones and when the shamans sacrificed themselves the last power of the Old One was poured into the Emperor as a bulwark against the Necrons, and the future that Chaos had.

It doesn't jive with what we know of the DAoT. The Emperor did not reveal himself to mankind. The Thunder Warriors died in glory against the one enemy they had never been allowed to test themselves against. Something they deserved, something they had gained. None of them professed a desire to rot away in retirement, or wait until their hearts exploded. And none of them hated the Emperor for killing them.

32:49- No, because from what Eldrad said to Robot Girlyman: once you get to the power level of the 4 chaos gods, your power becomes self sustaining. So, Khorne, Tzeench, Nurgle, and Slaanesh would be fine if that happened, but the infinite number of more minor gods would either have to join them, or die. That could honestly be a backup plan they have to clear out the pests, but I think they would rather let the mortals live so they can eat their souls like candy.

It blows my mind that GW doesn't have you on staff. If not for lore videos to get people hyped about upcoming releases, they should have you write some of the short lore sections in the codexes. Your vocabulary, use of language and passion would make your sections stand out as some of the best.
Just think what GW could have done for the Lion El'Jonson tease. A picture of a sleeping lion vs commissioning a short 5 minute story of a Dark Angel following the trail of something that is butchering monsters in the jungle and cutting as he finally sees his Primarch.

Preshiate you, dealing with a lot of stress/exhaustion coming up on my last few finals this semester. Always appreciate the brief escape your content and silky voice provides. The way forward is only walked through pain and sacrifice. Strength is not a measure of how much pain you can inflict but how much you can bear and keep moving forward. Stay strong out there my brothers.
Here is an interesting theory: what if the Emperor did indeed agree to bargain with the chaos Gods, perhaps exchanging great power for some sort of sacrifice (maybe even allowing the Horus Hersey to occur, thus giving the Gods of Chaos a chance to conqueror humanity for good). Essentially the bargain would go something like this: we shall bestow upon you great power and knowledge (perhaps allowing the Emperor to construct his webway project), but in exchange, the emperor must allow certain events to occur so that a civil war breaks out for the Imperium. The emperor agrees, believing that he will have the power to win the civil war. However, when the Horus Heresy occurs, the Emperor realizes how dire the situation has become, and is forced to alter many of his plans in order to salvage the situation. In fact, it's entirely possible that when Horus and the Emperor faced off against each other, both of them were empowered by Chaos, but only the Emperor had the skill and talent needed to avoid becoming their slave. However, in order to stop Horus, the Emperor realized that it would end up costing an immense portion of his own power to do so. If this is true, then the Emperor did not hesitate out of concern for his son Horus, but rather because he knew that by stopping Horus, he would also be stripped of his power as well. It was only after the Emperor understood that killing Horus was the best move possible for the sake of humanity's future did he finally relent and sacrifice his power, condemning himself to a miserable fate upon the Golden Throne, but still hoping that in time he might rise in power again to challenge the Chaos Gods and defend humanity from the terrors of the galaxy. There's also another incredible theory that Sanguinius (and not Horus) was the one who wounded the Emperor, and that Horus was already defeated (or possibly dead) by the time the Emperor arrived to confront him. Essentially, what might have happened was that the chaos Gods were always intent on making Sanguinius their champion, and not Horus. Therefore, when the Angel confronted the Warmaster, the chaos Gods basically 'forced' their blessings upon Sanguinius, twisting his soul with dark power in the hopes of making him their servant. Yet rather than succumbing to their influence, Sanguinius was defiant and ended up going mad from the strain of resisting their influence (and this is the reason the Black Rage exists, not because Horus killed Sanguinius, but because the Chaos Gods were trying to 'rape his soul' with power...and rather than allowing that to happen, Sanguinius resisted until their power tore his mind apart). This again could explain why the Emperor hesitated and allowed himself to be injured: not because he was fighting Horus (a traitor) but because was fighting his loyal son Sanguinius who had gone mad from fighting against the ruinous powers corrupting his soul. I can already picture Sanguinius weeping in despair as he attacks his father against his will, his mind already shattered as he continues to bellow oaths of loyalty for the Imperium while being forced to kill his father. From there, after the Emperor finally realizes that there is no way to save his son, the Master of Mankind reluctantly uses his power to shatter Sanginuius' soul (killing him instantly), and upon seeing his lifeless corpse fall to the ground, the wounded Emperor would turn to Horus (who had been watching the entire scene play out with tear-stained eyes, clearly ashamed of all he had done). The Emperor's would gaze at him with an anguished look of anger before speaking into his mind in a deep commanding voice.... "You are the one who did this. Because of your foolishness, the galaxy burns and humanity is shattered. And while I am certain that you regret many of your choices, the punishment for your actions has already been decided. You have placed all of humanity on a dark and terrible future, and for that I cannot offer you a single shred of mercy....save this: know that before you die...before I erase your very existence....I will never stop fighting to undo the damage you have done. I will make any sacrifice....endure any pain....and struggle with all my might....until humanity can at long last walk in a brighter future." Then, with one last surge of power, the Emperor utterly destroys Horus' very soul.

I want to see the chaos gods become more desperate as the primarchs awaken and the emperor stirs. It would be interesting to do away with the idea of chaos undivided as that has failed them time and time again so they would lose faith in the other gods and refocus their ambitions against each other. Not to say this doesn’t already happen but just in a much bigger way. Allowing certain chaos to grow in power as they expand on each other and mortal forces wether imperium or xenos to gain an actual foothold in the warp itself, like the inverse of warp storms. Leaning into heavy retcon territory.
I did not realize the story at the beginning was foreshadowing my own fate!! Ahhhh alas I found myself screaming inside my head for you to stop telling this story because it was breaking my understanding of reality (and dare I even say… my heart)! But I couldn’t turn it off, I couldn’t bring myself to quit before I heard the rest even tho the foundation I based my belief on was crumbling at my feet! All that I knew of the emperor now comes into even more question with this and you did a phenomenal job breaking down my defense. This isn't even a recent thing in the lore, the old book "Daemon World" featured a chaplain of the Word Bearers who was once a champion of Chaos during the Dark Age of Technology, and had mentioned that The Emperor wasn't just a champion of chaos, but their greatest champion, and he'd found a way to throw off the shackles of control from the Chaos gods. That in doing so he'd devised a plan to slay them all, and remove their threat from humanity.

Based on the last books topic of Horus………well it makes sense I’ll explain below. In the last book of the Horus Hersay, Horus is trying to become the fifth chaos god but that’s the fate….of the victor = Big.E he IS now the fifth god of chaos but not really since he denies this power, he probably avoids ascension at all times currently, he has daemons he can summon: Legion of the Damned, that aspect of Ferrus that could be summon (who could also be a leader of the Legion if they made it so which would be cool), the Saint and the Primarchs, he gives blessings and even possess his sons. He just needs to except his divinity which he hates the idea of since it goes against EVERYTHING he fought for. It’d also probably destroy humanity in his birth into a god.

Their technology seems to constantly nullify the effects of the warp and by giving up their souls millennia ago they can no longer be corrupted. I like the idea that the Emperor basically made them a deal. Like hey if you destroy us you'll get bored. So why not give me some of your power to keep the game going and more fun. It makes perfect sense. The Emperor's power is from chaos yet opposed to it. The necessary light to illuminate what would otherwise be all consuming darkness.
And so it is on this day, the Emperor provides. May he also protect all those whose ears hear this tale.

I always found it pretty suspicious that the one guy who knew more about chaos than any other human alive decided to fight chaos with a massive galaxy spanning slaughter.
Big E would have known about the reason why AI rebelled against us. He would have known that humanity's worst enemy was our very nature.
he would know about what the Aldar gave birth to. The Web way was his attempt to turn us into the Dark Aldar.
He knew about the warp.

Why his mere presence can harm, kill, or drive them into incoherency. It’s why they fear him, Chaos beings are excess personified. To bend them to order is to destroy them.

Soon after that visit, he grew markedly more concerned with the speed of the Great Crusade. As soon as he was able, he left the Crusade to carry out the Webway Project to "help Humanity".
What if he was just sealing his deal with Slannesh and getting her access to the Eldar and Dark Eldar? 🤔

Everchosen is a weird concept when you try to wrap your head around how the power is granted and whether or not it can be taken away once given. I assume the idea is the same in both 40k and AoS because almost everything to do with Chaos is the same between the two.
In 40k, we think that chaos gods just abandoned Horus because they feared that The Emperor's psychic blast would somehow destroy them as well as Horus. So it seems like in 40k, the chaos gods can just take the powers back.
Meanwhile in Age of Sigmar the Chaos Gods actually tried to kill Archaon because he was reborn as a mortal who was stronger than basically most of the gods in the setting. Scared of his power they sent their champions after him, but he just destroyed the greater daemons sent his way and had his mount absorb their powers.
Archaon took that as just a test and kept calling himself the Everchosen and champion of ruinous powers after beating the ever loving shit out of everyone who challenged him, so they basically had to let him be their champion.
So clearly, in the case of Archaon, the chaos gods can't take away what they already gave him back when he destroyed the Old World.
Does this mean that Horus was never a true Everchosen, or did the Emperor's psychic spell actually drive the chaos out of his soul as he destroyed it, rather than the chaos gods taking the power away willfully?
So if Emperor was or is an Everchosen, it would mean that the Chaos Gods can't take his powers away because he at least seems to be their enemy nowadays, The Anathema that all Daemons fear.
I would lean towards the version where their power was driven away since Horus as far as I know is the only instance of this ever happening. Belakor is cannon in both fantasy and 40k and im sure if the gods were able to do so they would have taken away their power from him after he turned out to be a bastard. It is always referred to as the gods giving power to their demons and champions. Not borrowing it.
I was under the impression that the Chaos gods are locked into mutually assured destruction. If one of them removed their power from Archaeon, the other three would see a chance to remove their competition in a 3v1 attack. Horus was about to be eradicated, so there was no reason to maintain a balance of powers.
It's my understanding that the Ruinous powers were using Horus as a host, they hadn't really gifted him a boon per se, and he wasn't ascended. His power and strength were a proxy of their own because he was occupied, possessed, by the ruinous powers. So in his case, they didn't really take his power away, as you state, they left because they feared whatever portion of their power that occupied him, would be destroyed with him.
I believe it's established that ascendant demons aren't autonomous, their autonomy and personality is an illusion, even to themselves it seems, as the being that ascends itself is destroyed and remade from a portion of the god in questions power. The ascendent demon is essentially a slither of the god, and its power, the difference in personality seems more of a means to and end of whatever purpose that god intended for that demon to carry out, in a sense its choices and destiny and therefore purpose were pre-planned and it was created to fulfill them, however simple or convoluted that purpose or destiny may be.
Even demons of Chaos undivided such as Be'Lakor is said to essentially be a puppet of the ruinous powers, with a private joke between the powers being that Be'Lakor thinks he's autonomous when he really isn't.
Which calls into question the nature of Lorgar, who is said to be a demon Primarch of chaos undivided, but given that Be'Lakor doesn't retain his own autonomy, does Lorgar? I guess it depends if Lorgar gave up his original material body or not, which I think seems to be the crux of whether or not you're autonomous, you must retain your original soul and material body and be gifted powers, as opposed to created from said powers.
This also seems to fit with Archaon, who was born with his own body and soul, but retained his powers.
This rule probably also fits The God Emperor of Mankind, he retained his body and soul, and treated with the ruinous powers for a boon in exchange for something else, perhaps the fallen Primarch's souls? And like Archaon, when he broke whatever deal he struck, they couldn't take his powers away, because they were his powers, because it was his body and his soul that possessed them.
Where as Horus was weak, he wasn't gifted a boon, he was possessed and occupied by the Ruinous powers and had powers himself by proxy as a result.
Who thinks that the Chaos gods took their powers back from Horus out of fear of the Emperor somehow being able to destroy all of them at once?
Last I read the scene seeing his dad's full might gave Horus just enough strength to resist the control of the four gods just long enough to tell his dad to kill him.

My thought has always been that he never tricked them, he invited them to the one thing they could never turn down, he offered a game.
20 pieces to play, and half would be promised to them but which half they would have to fight for. He knew he needed the powers of chaos to defeat them but he also knew he had to offer something that turned a perfect plan into a gamble, a game.
I like this theory.

Hey bro, really enjoy your content, sorry to hear you're suffering from back pain, but fortunately that's something that's WAY more fixable than a lot of people think. Proper exercise can not only relieve the pain, but also strengthen the area dramatically and make it way more resistant to injury in the future. The basic procedure is, 1. Move, get blood flow in the area, basic walking as soon as you're able is very helpful. 2. Strengthen assisting muscles, such as the hamstrings, glutes and abs, (walking lunges, hip thrusts, step ups and planks are great here) and 3. Directly strengthen the low back in a way that causes little or no pain. High rep 45 degree back extensions through whatever range is comfortable is one of the best options here. My personal head Canon is that the emperor was formed by the psykers sacrifice to protect and insure the future of humanity, and when he went into the warp it wasn't for anything of the chaos gods but for a lost corpse or shard of o e of the old ones that gave him the dynamic power boost, maybe he was learning where to look, so to speak with regards to the warp, or gaining enough power so he could claim it over the 30k years or so it took him to get there. I mean if Ganges Kahn could ascend to be a demon prince I doubt it would've taken the emperor that much time and effort to do so himself. Plus I also like the idea I heard of him using his time in the warp to capture lesser warp gods and use them as seeds for his primarchs. Is cool idea.

His true name was forgotten but he murder f*cked so many people that it pleased Khorne. Genghis Bang caused so many people to die that the Earth's temperature dropped by 1 or 2 degrees supposedly.
So while not outright saying Genghis is Doombreeds it is implied

Ah, yes. The old deal with the dark powers. My pet theory, which I'm sure'll be disproved soon enough, involves the theft of that knowledge. The deal that the Emperor broke.
My thoughts revolve around a couple of questions: what kind of deal did he strike? What kind of theft was it -- in fact, how does one steal from the gods?
For question 1, I think it's a classic bargain with demons. And those bargains usually involve one of two trades -- either one's soul (as per the daemon primarchs) -- or one's firstborn. As for question 2, the classic theft from the gods was perpetrated by Prometheus. Taking fire, giving it to mortals. But given how the ruinous powers *want* their stuff in the mortal domain, the better to corrupt the mortals. I think it's more a case of traditional theft -- simply not furnishing the requested payment for their service.
"But he did give them his son!" one might say. "Horus was the Warmaster, first in the Emperor's favour. And he fell to Chaos." And sure, he could be described as first. He's pretty primary by that measure. But his legion isn't the first, is it? And is he the first Primarch? Is he really? There *is* a first Primarch, and he seems to be pretty firmly loyal, even after his long nap on the Rock.
I suggest that the price the gods wanted to exact was the Lion. (Well, they probably wanted all twenty, you know how Chaos is.) But the Emperor reneged and fobbed them off with Horus.
Interestingly enough, the most famous lord of Chaos from Michael Moorcock's fiction was Arioch. Translated as 'a fierce lion.' But that's surely just a coincidence. Or a bit of synchronicity.

This is a similar theory to what I had. Due to what the term "anathema" actually means, and the fact that the emperor of man made chaos "promises only a god in waiting coul" I always interpreted the emperor was on chaos' side at some point, that he promised to be the chaos gods' avatar in exchange for the knowledge of how to manipulate the warp in the same way they do. Then betrayed them at some point. I also always thought this was part of the reason so many of his colleagues turned on him they realized what he was doing.

@Mr. N It would also give the Saints and the Legion of the Damed a new meaning... one that actually makes a lot of sense... they would be his deamons... they can't die and can use the Warp to teleport at will and it would explain alot in the Lions return... he became one of the Emperors deamon princes.... without truly knowing it. It would explain his long time lying dorment with out him actually conceiving how much time has past, the visions he has, the warp entities he has to fight the forest that should not actually be that he finds himself in wich is like a way shrine through the warp allowing him and others to teleport far distances like the Saints and the Legion also can.

It doesn't jive with what we know of the DAoT. The Emperor did not reveal himself to mankind.
The Thunder Warriors died in glory against the one enemy they had never been allowed to test themselves against. Something they deserved, something they had gained. None of them professed a desire to rot away in retirement, or wait until their hearts exploded. And none of them hated the Emperor for killing them.
I think the emperor went to moloch 237 years before the unification war I believe.

32:49- No, because from what Eldrad said to Robot Girlyman: once you get to the power level of the 4 chaos gods, your power becomes self sustaining. So, Khorne, Tzeench, Nurgle, and Slaanesh would be fine if that happened, but the infinite number of more minor gods would either have to join them, or die. That could honestly be a backup plan they have to clear out the pests, but I think they would rather let the mortals live so they can eat their souls like candy.

It blows my mind that GW doesn't have you on staff. If not for lore videos to get people hyped about upcoming releases, they should have you write some of the short lore sections in the codexes. Your vocabulary, use of language and passion would make your sections stand out as some of the best.
Just think what GW could have done for the Lion El'Jonson tease. A picture of a sleeping lion vs commissioning a short 5 minute story of a Dark Angel following the trail of something that is butchering monsters in the jungle and cutting as he finally sees his Primarch.

Preshiate you, dealing with a lot of stress/exhaustion coming up on my last few finals this semester. Always appreciate the brief escape your content and silky voice provides.
The way forward is only walked through pain and sacrifice. Strength is not a measure of how much pain you can inflict but how much you can bear and keep moving forward.
Stay strong out there my brothers.
Here is an interesting theory: what if the Emperor did indeed agree to bargain with the chaos Gods, perhaps exchanging great power for some sort of sacrifice (maybe even allowing the Horus Hersey to occur, thus giving the Gods of Chaos a chance to conqueror humanity for good). Essentially the bargain would go something like this: we shall bestow upon you great power and knowledge (perhaps allowing the Emperor to construct his webway project), but in exchange, the emperor must allow certain events to occur so that a civil war breaks out for the Imperium. The emperor agrees, believing that he will have the power to win the civil war. However, when the Horus Heresy occurs, the Emperor realizes how dire the situation has become, and is forced to alter many of his plans in order to salvage the situation. In fact, it's entirely possible that when Horus and the Emperor faced off against each other, both of them were empowered by Chaos, but only the Emperor had the skill and talent needed to avoid becoming their slave. However, in order to stop Horus, the Emperor realized that it would end up costing an immense portion of his own power to do so. If this is true, then the Emperor did not hesitate out of concern for his son Horus, but rather because he knew that by stopping Horus, he would also be stripped of his power as well. It was only after the Emperor understood that killing Horus was the best move possible for the sake of humanity's future did he finally relent and sacrifice his power, condemning himself to a miserable fate upon the Golden Throne, but still hoping that in time he might rise in power again to challenge the Chaos Gods and defend humanity from the terrors of the galaxy.
There's also another incredible theory that Sanguinius (and not Horus) was the one who wounded the Emperor, and that Horus was already defeated (or possibly dead) by the time the Emperor arrived to confront him. Essentially, what might have happened was that the chaos Gods were always intent on making Sanguinius their champion, and not Horus. Therefore, when the Angel confronted the Warmaster, the chaos Gods basically 'forced' their blessings upon Sanguinius, twisting his soul with dark power in the hopes of making him their servant. Yet rather than succumbing to their influence, Sanguinius was defiant and ended up going mad from the strain of resisting their influence (and this is the reason the Black Rage exists, not because Horus killed Sanguinius, but because the Chaos Gods were trying to 'rape his soul' with power...and rather than allowing that to happen, Sanguinius resisted until their power tore his mind apart). This again could explain why the Emperor hesitated and allowed himself to be injured: not because he was fighting Horus (a traitor) but because was fighting his loyal son Sanguinius who had gone mad from fighting against the ruinous powers corrupting his soul.
I can already picture Sanguinius weeping in despair as he attacks his father against his will, his mind already shattered as he continues to bellow oaths of loyalty for the Imperium while being forced to kill his father. From there, after the Emperor finally realizes that there is no way to save his son, the Master of Mankind reluctantly uses his power to shatter Sanginuius' soul (killing him instantly), and upon seeing his lifeless corpse fall to the ground, the wounded Emperor would turn to Horus (who had been watching the entire scene play out with tear-stained eyes, clearly ashamed of all he had done). The Emperor's would gaze at him with an anguished look of anger before speaking into his mind in a deep commanding voice....
"You are the one who did this. Because of your foolishness, the galaxy burns and humanity is shattered. And while I am certain that you regret many of your choices, the punishment for your actions has already been decided. You have placed all of humanity on a dark and terrible future, and for that I cannot offer you a single shred of mercy....save this: know that before you die...before I erase your very existence....I will never stop fighting to undo the damage you have done. I will make any sacrifice....endure any pain....and struggle with all my might....until humanity can at long last walk in a brighter future."
Then, with one last surge of power, the Emperor utterly destroys Horus' very soul.
this give me chills so now it is head canon until it's released.

I want to see the chaos gods become more desperate as the primarchs awaken and the emperor stirs. It would be interesting to do away with the idea of chaos undivided as that has failed them time and time again so they would lose faith in the other gods and refocus their ambitions against each other. Not to say this doesn’t already happen but just in a much bigger way. Allowing certain chaos to grow in power as they expand on each other and mortal forces wether imperium or xenos to gain an actual foothold in the warp itself, like the inverse of warp storms. Leaning into heavy retcon territory.
I did not realize the story at the beginning was foreshadowing my own fate!! Ahhhh alas I found myself screaming inside my head for you to stop telling this story because it was breaking my understanding of reality (and dare I even say… my heart)! But I couldn’t turn it off, I couldn’t bring myself to quit before I heard the rest even tho the foundation I based my belief on was crumbling at my feet! All that I knew of the emperor now comes into even more question with this and you did a phenomenal job breaking down my defense.

This isn't even a recent thing in the lore, the old book "Daemon World" featured a chaplain of the Word Bearers who was once a champion of Chaos during the Dark Age of Technology, and had mentioned that The Emperor wasn't just a champion of chaos, but their greatest champion, and he'd found a way to throw off the shackles of control from the Chaos gods. That in doing so he'd devised a plan to slay them all, and remove their threat from humanity.

Based on the last books topic of Horus………well it makes sense I’ll explain below.
In the last book of the Horus Hersay, Horus is trying to become the fifth chaos god but that’s the fate….of the victor = Big.E he IS now the fifth god of chaos but not really since he denies this power, he probably avoids ascension at all times currently, he has daemons he can summon: Legion of the Damned, that aspect of Ferrus that could be summon (who could also be a leader of the Legion if they made it so which would be cool), the Saint and the Primarchs, he gives blessings and even possess his sons. He just needs to except his divinity which he hates the idea of since it goes against EVERYTHING he fought for. It’d also probably destroy humanity in his birth into a god.
