I meant to have this video out A LOT earlier than now. But I ended up working in the garage all day instead lol... so here's a day time release for all my overseas fans!
Brake parts is always trouble. I started to make my ovn, bought Lines in meters and AN3 parts. And when i needed 1 part i bought 2-3, so no i have what i need in house. Well i make my ovn wire to, then it fit the way i want😅 But that is me😊 Keep the rubberside down and stay safe.
Yea my dad normally would make a lot of that stuff too, but we just didn’t have the parts this time around and ordering them would have left us waiting at least a week just for them to arrive.
Angel, You said that you wish there was one store that has all of the Shovel head parts that you need? I don't think that Shovel heads came with hydraulic disk brakes. My FWD Trucks have Traction locks and Lockers that work on brake fluid. I can make and crimp my own lines in 1/4" Teflon brained stainless hose, but it's 1/4" I.D. way overkill for brake lines. I buy a lot of bake line parts at an Industrial Hydraulic hose supply Store. You can get adapters with 1/8" pipe thread on one end and 37 degree JIC tapered fitting on the other end. That Pressure switch for your brake light was used on about every car on the road for 50 years. My Yamaha FZ-07 has a mechanical switch for the rear brake. I have spent a lot of time trying to adjust the brake pedal travel, when I get it the way I want it the brake light won't come on. I have to be sure and always use my front brake to activate my brake light. I was going to add the switch you bought . I always have a new spare one in my shop with 1/8" pipe thread. Then I found a pressure switch that has a hole in the middle and is held in place with a longer bolt like the stock OEM bolt. I found it at Sport Bike Track Gear. Revzilla sells the same part but didn't say that it was compatible with my FZ-07 Sport Bike Track time web site tells what thread my bike has and what pressure switch works with it. I don't know Metric plumbing threads very well .
@@RedRiderCanadaBC You got that right! Thats why, I am trying to pass on some of the info that has been hidden, by many, for years. And hey 10% of my viewers are women! So that shows me that there are a lot of girls out there interested in keeping the old iron going. Thats a great thing! As they say 'You Go Girl !" Keep the old bikes alive!
Please be careful and take care of yourself, the main thing is not to rush! I had an experience riding a motorcycle when one foot did not fit into ordinary shoes. And how glad I was that I had Camelot boots.
@@alkennedy1124 I had my big toe ground up in training, and the surgeons had to stitch it up and all that. The foot could only fit into big Camelot boots
Shovelheads love their parts 😂 There is so much to these motorcycles; most people just don't get it unless you've really worked on them! Respect that you keep the old iron on the road ❤
Another place to try would be a hardware or plumbing supply store, especially one that has been in business for a long time. One of them may have had the 45 degree fitting you needed. Glad you got it figured out though! Just remember, if everything was easy we wouldn't be needed!
Parts hunting can turn into a safari in no time lol. Seems like sometimes you will be on a never ending quest to find what ya need. I just go to my parts dude and get him to order from Drag for anything I might need for my 92 Evo. One things for sure, I don't skimp on my brakes lol! I'm with ya getting stuck in the sun on a hot day. I don't have any hair left on my fair skin head and I'm not gonna stand and get my head cooked and freckled up talking about bikes lol. Loved the video and can't wait for your dad's bike to be up and running going down the road! Ride and stay safe! Peace!:)
I was at Shovelfest last year, it was a REAL happening! Shovelheads were still pulling in when I left at 4pm, I'm sure the campsite was a howl!! Ride whatever you have to get there next weekend, you won't be disappointed!!!
I hear ya on the tar snakes! We got them all over the roads here in northern Ontario...makes riding, especially in corners pretty sketchy sometimes. I like Tiny...got a cat named Tuna myself lol Hope you make the show!
The devil is in the details! Going through the same thing with my 79 Fxs as we speak. Almost done putting my new 96 inch motor in yayeee. Getting to the last stretch Good luck with your build.
Their is a good chance i wont have a functioning front brake for my trip. But it is rare that i put one on my chopper anyway. Shovelfest is the kick off for a 2 week vacation for me and cant come soon enough!
You used to be able to go to Amazon Hose, buy some stainless braided to any length you wanted with any fitting imaginable and wthin 20 minutes you were out the door for $13.Of course that would be back in the 80s. Then the lawyers descended upon them.
I have checked em out online. Very interesting! I think I'll definitely look into grabbing a couple 🤔 I'd actually forgot about you mentioning them till now, so thanks for the reminder!
Sure do know what you are talking about when it come's to parts .. I have a late shovel frame with a evo in it ''full custom'' i have to send off to the usa for parts 'i have waited up to 4 months for parts to arrive and missed many a show ..😉

Being we are talking brakes. Little story out riding my peddle bike going down a steep hill that went onto main road went to grab a hand full of brakes and nothing. Laying it down to stop from possible being killed. Few black and blues and road rash found out the brakes were removed. Yes my son started to rip him a new ass, he started laughing after apology and I had to also. Hope you are resting in peace love and miss you!
