i just bought the filter but i don't understand one thing. When i need to clean the filter what can i wash and what can't i? i mean where are the useful bacteria?
That's indeed a problem with that type of filter, useful bacteria - if any even present with that method - get washed away each time you clean the sponges. I myself am using a filter with 3 sections which can be individually separated when a cleaning needs to be done. The bottom section contains a (black) sponge with an exchangeable/rechargeable coal cartridge sitting on top of it. The middle section contains Glax rings mini (where the useful bacteria grow) and the top section contains the pump with an additional black sponge around the water outlet - thus sitting inside the device in the gaps - to keep adventurous shrimps (or fish) to travel inside. It's the Wave Filpo Corner 200 - Twin (200L/hr) and I use it in my 16,5L nano aquarium. The water flow is perfect for my cube and the outlet can be positioned as you like (up, down, left, right). It doesn't take a lot of space in my small 16,5L tank and can somewhat be hidden with some driftwood and/or a plant.
All the fan filters have a sponge which needs to be cleaned when the fan slows due to the muck in the filter. This just has a sponge without a casing. I would think this is much better for fry and small fish which would get sucked into the casing of a conventional fan filter. When you clean the sponge, siphon old water from your aquarium into a jug or bucket and clean the sponge. Throw this water away and replace fresh TREATED, WARM water into the aquarium.

Bonjour, personnellement le miens fait un peu de bruit, le moteur en lui-même est relativement silencieux mais il fait vibrer un peu les parroies de l'aquarium, du coup j'en recherche un autre :-/ peut-être que c'est mon modèle qui a un soucis car il est plutôt réputé pour être silencieux. De votre côté vous êtes parti sur quel modèle du coup ?
@@apdetail9550 C'est bien ce que j'aurais pensé, il n'y a que des avis positifs, soit je n'ai pas de chance soit je suis hyper exigent... vous ne l'entendez pas du tout quand vous dormez ? De mon côté j'ai également 2 filtres Dennerle nano XL (pas assez puissant) et le Eheim Pickup (un peu moche) et pour le coup je ne les entends absolument pas ceux-ci, alors qu'à la longue le "bourdonnement" de l'Aquael est, bien que peu perceptible, assez vite insupportable quand on cherche le sommeil. J'avais également acheté l'Aquael Turbo Filter 500 et pareil il vibre un peu. Du coup je suis venu sur cette vidéo pour voir si je n'avais pas mal fait quelque chose de mal pendant le montage, apparemment pas.. Je vais poursuivre mes recherches de filtres alors ^^ mais pas simple quand on ne peut pas les essayer... Merci pour votre réponse en tout cas.
