True true. People are acting like this 1 phone call was the only evidence shown and is the fabric that keeps the case together.

What the defense has yet to do is refute the documentary evidence or the timeline of events.
It is a rare case that rises or falls on a single piece of evidence. I’m not convinced that the prosecution has made their case on the campaign violations but the records falsification and subsequent tax dodge seems on point and very on brand for Trump.

You don't even need Cohen...the evidence is so overwhelming it is crazy...this case should be a slam dunk. The paper and documents tell the story. That is why Blanche was so flustered and frustrated and voice breaking. He made a big mistake with his career here. Disgrace! It doesn't matter if Cohen blames people in his life...or that he lies...those things do not negate the overwhelming evidence. The timeline, the docs, the checks, the tapes, and the other witnesses, esp. Pecker. The facts here you can not dispute. Blanche thinks he caught a liar in a lie was just performative for Trump. You can take Cohen away and you still have a rock solid case.

When you put it like that...
But then again, Hillary was such a problematic candidate and half the electorate were screaming 'burn it all down' and would have voted for Trump regardless, and I'd say none of that is on Cohen.

An even handed account by Litman, as opposed to the talking heads elsewhere. There is no way to know how a jury processes testimony from mere observation, particularly a relatively short trial like this. People (jurors) hear what they want to hear and see what they want to see.

I think it’s a huge benefit to the prosecution that they have the weekend to prepare the re-direct. Blanche should have ended the cross then and there and force the prosecution to do the redirect under stress in front of a fatigued jury.
The prosecution can now prepare and the jury will come in fresh. Cohen will be well prepared and can contextualize why he lied and for whom he lied.

The best thing the prosecution can do Monday is make clear to the Jury that Cohen made hundreds or thousands of emails and calls eight years ago. No one should be expected to remember minute details of one particular event out of hundreds or thousands that long ago. The Jury must be given more details about this and related events in this timeframe and weigh its significance against other documented and related events.

Harry - this is the best analysis I have heard of this moment in the court. No emotion, no hyperbole, just the facts and then your opinion. From my opinion, I'm disappointed the prosecutors did not know of these texts or foresee how the defence would use them. They have gone to such lengths to corroborate the rest of his testimony.
