Mine was installed when the boat was rigged by the dealership without a power switch on the cable. On Saturday it all worked on Sunday I plugged the trolling motor power cord in after the Elite 9 TI was already powered on and it gave me the no computer error. I will be getting a freshwater xi3 model. I don't need to have a MotorGuide transducer included on it to make this setup work do I? I am hoping that I can keep my original totalscan transducer that is already on my go7 xse as the only transducer for the boat.
Hey salty strikes thanks for this video. I am running almost the exact same setup just on a simrad go 12. I’m having trouble doing the update on my motorguide xi5 through the simrad. Did you do the motorguide update? Also will your motorguide follow a track correctly? Mine is just spinning me in circles. Any information I’d greatly appreciate it.
Tyler Killeen ... I haven’t attempted an update to the Xi5 yet, mine tracks straight. Have you set the motor forward inline with the boat using the remote?
Hey, I actually got ahold of motorguide today finally and that was part one of the two step fix they recommend for me to do as well as a compass calibration. Anyone having this same issue according to motorguide may be because you live farther then 150 miles from where they originally do the compass calibration so it must be done again when in your local waters. I will do it tomorrow and see if it works. Thanks for your reply!
Tyler Killeen ... when you go to drive in a circle it’s good to have a second person so they can hear when Xi5 beeps to know the calibration is done. Or you can always do it on the water.

I've been having the very same issues with my Lowrance Elite 9Ti units and Xi5. I have 3 questions. First, are network settings for both units supposed to be the same? Do both units and the Xi5 need to have GPS lock before switching on the network? Do you only go through the switching sequence once when you deploy the motor the first time, or do you switch it on and off everytime you deploy/recover the Xi5?
I only have one Simrad unit, so in the instances referring to “both units”. You should only be connecting it to one unit. You should only have to go through the sequence once if you have power to the Xi5 and Chart potter continuously.
