Thanks for this video. It was very useful to replace my keyboard on this same model as this. I was lucky, my keyboard did not have the plastic rivets so no need for a soldering iron))). It was very easy to replace with the help of this video. I upgraded the 128GB SATA m.2 HD to 512GB NVME m.2 and also took the opportunity to replace the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU, (made a massive difference to temps). Also gave it a good clean inside. GTX 970 is getting old now but it will still play most games at medium to high settings with playable frame rates.
Hey zack, i have an older gs63, and seems like the cover fro the keyboard is old and start to get rigit, thus making my laptop expanded, is there a way to fix that? Thanks
Nice Job Jack. Will be very helpful when i do my repair. BIG thumbs up.👍 I see you put small screws around the edge of the metal plate behind the keyboard but did not see you remove them. Am i correct to think these screws are already there but you did not record removing them?
@@niksarass Indeed!! the whole keyboard is riveted with plastic that i had to soder away, i did fix it and replaced it at the expense of taking these, this very poor poor design, its a late 2018 model. Oh and did i mention the trackpad with synaptics software is horrible! my 2013 Asus 17" has withstand the test of time never failed, been to Syria, Kuwait sand everywhere and back and it works flawlessly and better than MSI shitty trackpads that are a pain to use. I will buy Asus Gaming in the future! I learned my lesson with this cheap plastic holding a almost 1000 dollar laptop:( Never again. Plastic is cheap and it is so brittle! i dropped my 5 lb asus and it still works. I am surprised i am still using it, it feels like First class keyboard and trackpad!
@@cyberpunksoldier5047 I had left Asus in the past because of they wouldn't recognise their fault with a graphic chip soldered to the motherboard that would die after one year, you had to replace the whole motherboard and it died again few month later, didn't know back then it was a problem that affected all Asus models with soldered chipset. Asus said it's perfectly normal. So I said F them I go MSI around 2013, got 1 MSI perfectly reliable still working, in 2018 I buy a Gt72vr dominator pro for 1700 euros, after one year the keyboard is buggued, I search on the forums it is a common problem with all the MSIs of that generation, due to the size of the keyboard plug. It affted thousands of people and MSI won't recognise it! As it is not enough it's a nightmare to replace the keyboard ! Same crap I don't know if I'll buy msi again, will maybe try gigabyte next time.
@@niksarass crazy the same thing that happened to me with MSI happened to you with Asus, so this is my take on it. My MSI is new and it has small problems like these, the asus is old and works like new. My take on this is the new Asus ROG are really good, if you get one for performance make sure to get one with the nvidia rtx 2070, the speed is unbelievable and superior you can get it for a fraction of the cost of an MSI of same performance. Idk, i want to sell my msi for 750. If i do i will buy an Asus Rog with Nvidia rtx 2070 good for years to come! Time is always the best judge, time will tell. Asus K75vj for 8 years and no problems at all.
No need to replace the adhesive, it is not needed. Plastic rivets are there to stop anyone to have easy job to replace the keyboard. Usual dirty trick that MSi like to make. Keyboard will stay in place without rivets and you won't know any difference.
Thanks Jack, this is the only video that resembles what it takes to takedown and replace the keyboard for a GE73 Raider. Much thanks from Canada!
why is this the only video that actually shows what to do thanks for the vid

Thank you sooooo much. I've just finished to fix it right now. I couldn't have done it without this video.

Why not use x-acto knife to cut the nubs put them in a pile, replace the keyboard then use the soldering iron to melt them back on.
請問後來裝螺絲所用的螺絲規格為多少的?
can i do this also on msi ge76 6qc?
those are not screws they are rivets that you melt?? the gl63 has that, adhesive ,how do i replace that?
Plastic rivets what a joke msi!!!
