He even talked to IU about it on her talk show. She casted him as the male lead and he really wanted to do it despite having only one week left before enlistment. And he absolutely delivered. IU's voice is so beautifully haunting on this song. Matches with the MV, which is like a mini movie! One theory is the boxes are supposed to represent netizens/standards that KPop idols have to live up to. If you have any flaws(IU is either deaf or mute/V is blind in one eye) you will be discarded. When i first watched it, through my tears, I was saying to myself.."But, why?? Because they are different?" I can totally get the theory as well. V AMAZING acting out all these emotions of fear happiness sorrow furious, in a 5 minute music video is crazy because we see actors failing to act out a single emotion in an 1 hour long episode but here he is, the versatility is showing 😭They they forgot what they were running from because through the lens of the camera, they were able to just love and enjoy life until the reality caught up to them and they were taken away ICRY 😭😭😭😭❤❤❤
IU can't hear and V’s one eye can't see ,in the end IU covered the good eyes of Taehyung so he won't see the horrible ending in front of them ,im Stuck at how a single tear from Taehyung’s good eye traced its path down his face and IU’s hand gently covered his eyes, It's as if he found a momentary refuge in her touch, offering a subtle relief from the overwhelming sensation ... AH I CAN'T STOP CRYING 😢😢😮
Actually IU can hear but is mute. This fact is shown several ways in the MV and there is a reason that it matters . IU hears the Cube passing overhead before V does when they are outside. Inside they both react to the sound of the cube at the exact same time. Then their is IU's lip ring which is being used to show that her issue is speech. In all the fantasy views through the camera lens the lip ring is gone showing that all their injuries are healed. And in the wedding scene IU has a microphone and is singing, again demonstrating that it is her speech that is the issue in reality. Why is this important, at least to IU? Because IU is in fact dealing with an ear condition that she has Bern struggling with for a while now. And the last thing she wants to do is to suggest in anyway that her hearing is becoming worst. Hence a rather insignificant thing in terms of impact onbthe MV turns into one that IU wished to avoid. And sign language is just as important for a person who can't speak as it is for someone who can't hear.
