So... You're still blaming the victims.
Being new to Atlanta I’m surprised to see so many cars running with no one inside.
There's almost no one-time criminals. If these criminals were kept in prison this kind of thing wouldn't be happening.
Exactamundo!
It’s a damn shame that theft has become so normalized that we are starting to blame the victims. You know what? You should be able to leave your car unattended ALL DAY! It should be reasonable to think it won’t wind up in the possession of someone it does not belong to
Absolutely.
yep start chopping off fingers, thumbs , hands , what ever it takes to get the message across we're tired of your crap.
@@rawbacon 😂😂😂😂
Insurances and the law have quite a different approach to the matter. Besides, they are as much victims if they leave their car running unattended, as they are victims when they leave a bag filled with money on the curb in the expectation that it still will be there when they return.
"starting" to blame the victims? I am in my 50s, and was always taught to park the car, lock it, and keep all valuables out of sight. It went without saying, you don't leave a car running and unattended. This is not new advice; it's common sense. What we "should" be able to do is not reality. Having a car stolen is a huge hassle, and it's not blaming the victims to remind people how to reduce their chances of being victimized.
Might as well put up a huge sign that says "just take me now"
And stop leaving your damn kids in the vehicle!
You can leave the car running and still lock the doors. You can also sill shoot the suspect regardless if you are in the car or not. Win win win.
Cars have been around for more than a hundred years. If people really need to be told at this point, I think they deserve to get their sh!t taken.
Ture!
lol what ghetto are u from?
@@IcECreAm-sv2qv
The kind of ghetto where you can't even leave your shoes on the front porch overnight. Not even nice shoes. I'm talking a worn azz pair of 30 dollar Walmart hiking boots. We sure as hell don't leave our cars running unattended for any amount of time here.
@Lefties R Retards
Crime is not just a liberal problem, so I don't know where you got that from. Here is a list of the top ten states with the highest murder rates in the country as of 2020, listed from 1. worst, to 10. tenth worst.
1. Mississippi - RED
2. Louisiana - RED
3. Kentucky - RED
4. Alabama - RED
5. Missouri - RED
6. South Carolina - RED
7. New Mexico - BLUE
8. Georgia - BLUE
9. Arkansas - RED
10. Tennessee - RED
Furthermore, the 8/10 Red states listed voted for the Republican presidential nominee in not only 2020, but in every election this century.
I also looked at auto theft stats just long enough to see Texas (my home) and Florida rank very high on the list, yet are also unmistakably red.
Never understood why people leave their cars on, don’t care if it takes me five minutes to start and turn off, I’m NOT leaving it on. SMH
Price of gas at all time high and people leave their cars running? And the BMW...how very arrogant.
Hell no. I never leave my car running if I'm not in it. My parents did that back in the day in the small town I grew up in, but I never have and never will do that now.
Move out of the city... =)
Why did they do it? Was turning the key that much of a hassle?
I never did this or never will.
In the west they hanged horse thieves. Maybe we should start thinking at least about cutting off car thieves' right feet?
I use this analogy with women. You can pull up in a gas station in a bad part of town with your red convertible sports car and leave the door unlocked and the car running while you go inside. Yes, if it is stolen it is still grand theft auto, but the bottom line is you have to use common sense. Same thing applies to females. If you are in a bad part of town, dressed a certain way, drunk, alone, not paying attention, you are making it easy to become a victim. yes it's still a crime, but you have to use common sense. You don't need to worry about 99.999 percent of people. It's the 0.001 percent is the reason why cars need to have keys in the first place.
Don't be stupid and think your car wont go anywhere without the fob, I thought the same thing im here to tell you TURN IT OFF!
Anyone who takes what is not theirs deserve death! Stop defending criminals!
I always turn my car off even when I forgot something at the house u never know
For those people who leave their cars running , need to put GPS put on them
So the crime is the victims fault? what a ghetto.
I lock my car even if I have to run back into my house because I forgot something.
Me personally when I get my car I don’t care if it takes 5 minutes to go into the store or restaurant. I’m not leaving my car running and I’m locking my car and I’m having my car keys on me. You can’t make it easy for people to steal your car nowadays. At my brothers job this guy left his Porsche Panamera running and unlocked in the parking lot. Guess what? These 3 men in a BMW Suv (probably stolen too) jumped out of the car and stole it. The Porsche owner was fighting with thieves and of the thieves threw hot coffee at the Porsche owner! Craziness! Be safe people!
I guess if you are driving a nice car you better watch who is following you.
Sad you can't just enjoy your day when you have made sure you are well fed.
🙄Hear come all the people that live in ghetto cities saying people deserve their car stolen. People people leave cars running all the time😒😒
So your tax dollars gets advice instead of protection?
We have the same problem where I patrol 🚓. People are stupid and lazy.
What a nasty town. You can't leave your car running ? WTF ?
It's an inbred lack of self awareness that they're fouling up the air of everyone around them.
Nowadays especially in Atlanta you have to be hyper aware. Being situationally aware is not a choice. Some people don't have morals and they will take any opportunity to show that.
Should be " Leave The City " . . I got a 20 year old piece of junk and still turn it off and lock the doors . To think perhaps these idiots have Full Replacement Insurance and just don't care .. " Oh look Honey . Someone stole our 2017 Beemer .. We can upgrade to a 2023 "
Imagine blaming the victim lmao. You def dark
Bimmer*
If I saw a car running, I would just think to myself. Well, this person isn't that smart, but okay. You do you, but I'm clicking my lock button twice on my way into the store.
You might as well leave a
" PLEASE STEAL MY CAR "
sign on the windscreen.
Stupid is as stupid does.
Life is like a box of choc-lates
In this town? You better believe you have to 1. turn the car off when you get out 2. take your keys with you. 3. hide valuables out of sight.
Cmon people. Help yourselves
Security expert guy, How did someone steal your friends car on remote start? During that process the doors remain locked, the transmission won't shift into drive, and after ten minutes most remote start vehicles will automatically turn off. I've written dozens of stolen vehicle reports, but never for a running remotely started vehicle. I'm suspicious of that story.
True plus it will sense the keys not in the car
@@curiosityredpill7030 Exactly. That's why they won't shift into drive.
what he said about remote starters is a lie. alot of remote starts have security features in place, for example my friends f150 had a remote start. you have to press the brake to shift into drive, if the key is not in the ignition or in the vehicle the minute you push the brake pedal it completely shuts off the car. also alot of times remote starts dont actually turn on the engine they just turn on features such as as the ac. you still have to start the car once you get it in with the key
They steal car jack or do whatever they can to get a car they want to steal whether left running or unattended. Just a day ago they jumped on some elderly man to take their car . But no you shouldn't leave your car attended
This is the reason why your cars get stolen cuz it's called not having patience if you would have patience and wait for it this kind of stuff would never happen ever to anyone keep point of life
To keep the AC running? Wake up.
I have NEVER done this & never will
More than 15 cars are carjacked or stolen in memphis per day.
Never do this, especially, if you live in a "dieverse" area.
My locked Mercedes was stolen in Buckhead yesterday.
You can't steal a car with a remote starter the steering column still locked
My car wasn’t running. In fact, it was parked and locked and still stolen.
The point is, the easier someone makes it for a thief, the more likely that THEIR car will be stolen.
Crime prevention 101. Don't make yourself a soft target SMH.
I can't believe how this has become so normal in cities across America, along with car jackings. The crime just keep getting worse and no one's trying to fix it.
I left my car running yesterday in a Walgreens parking lot and I have darkened/shaded windows and a man got really close to my car and looked in and when he noticed me then he walked away
I leave mine running sometime but doors locked and I’m never to far to get to u quick with tha stick
That's illegal in Texas .
I like my remote starter, it'll shut off in 10 minutes and you need the key to take the car
Illegal to leave your car running aside from the risk it being stolen but the excuse to leave it running so the AC can say on is about the dumbest thing I have heard.
Should have used the moment to say:
"Before you do something wrong, take something that is not yours, or act a fool in a public place in any way, ask your self, would you do it if your mother was standing beside you?"
"your property is not safe" is the wrong message for any Police Officer of any rank to send. That includes the blasé reaction to reporting a crime. it's your job to be concerned about crime and show concern for victims.
One word idiots who does that? You leave a car worth $ 50,000 or more I can’t even leave my phone that’s more than $ 50,000 information in it…?!
The chief is right.lock your doors while putting gas in your car.keep your purse under the seat or cover it before exiting car and lock it no other country people get worried about getting gas.
A lot of people make their self victims but that still doesn’t make it right that someone victimize them
Those people wouldn’t let a mentally handicapped person walk into a fire so why don’t people just kind of help each other and stop the people from stealing the cars by just giving them some Swift mob justice
What makes you think it's gonna stop them from stealing or trashing your car?
Fixing stupid one car theft at a time, leave your car running duh
Why Leave the car on gas prices is up?! Duh
Am I an idiot?..... absolutely.
U deserve to have it stolen if u leave it running
I wonder how many people will hide armed to the teeth with their cars running now? Thanks chief!
Would you leave your house unlocked and windows open when you go to the grocery store?
Time to turn on the comprehensive coverage
Absolutely!!!🥸
In other news, don't drink paint.
This doesn’t happen with teslas. Lol. You can have the engine off and the ac on. Love my Tesla
When I lived in the country I did, but when I moved back to Atlanta I stopped.
In the 90’s there was a young female comedian that has a whole skit about not needing a gun to steal cars.
Morse Diggs is a classy OG
Want to leave your car running without worrying? Buy a manual car. 🤷🤣
Common sense isn’t common, apparently…..
No it's not, it's been said it's a superpower.😁
This is crazy! I have never in my 14 years of driving left my car running. Do stupid things get stupid results. 🤷🏽♂️
BLM LaQuan, thank you, for "normalizing" this.
Exactly. And the crazy thing is I read some comments people saying they shouldn't have to worry about their cars getting stolen if they leave their car running. It's crazy how there are so many dumb people in this world.
Happen to my dumbass before
Stupid is as stupid does
I always remote start my car in the winter. I have to lock it in order to do it and it won’t go into drive unless the key fob is inside of the car. I would say I’m baffled as to how to steal a remote started car, but I guess all cars doesn’t require all of that.
Exactly, that’s because he’s telling lies & just wanted to be on tv
I was wondering how they steal the car when as soon as you press pedal the car will cut off if the fob isn't detected
@@prettyladie8327 💯…they do anything for clout
@@The-Man-Right-Chea EXACTLY!!! I thought it would be impossible to do.
some criminals are smart and they use a device to spoof the signal from the key fob so the car thinks the key is inside the vehicle. maybe thats what he is referring to .
I mean this is common sense tho
I leave my car running all the time in the countryside. Never in the city, though!
Yea we already took more than 100 said old skool on Car jack Blvd. It's all we look for. Running cars that are unattended. Good money he says. Plus it's already got the keys. Shoot dang man that skool was stacking money 💰🤑
Unattended and running?? How about a hot coffee and a burger 🍔 and fries 🍟 as well. Sheesh
We’re gonna just ignore the fact that the barbers name is Tommy Thomas
PEOPLE WHO ANNOY YOU
It is soft racism to believe people can not control themselves.
Good God - that's common sense.
No remote start car allows you to drive off without a key, fact. I was a valet and would always start a car from far away so it was running when I got in. You still need the key and to press the start button in the car to then be able to put the car in drive. Insurance shouldnt cover this.
Not true they cave the key skimmers now
Bmw was gone? She must of leave the car in it
Try keyless entry
What kind of demographic are the one stealing cars? maybe the parents need to teach their kids not to commit crime.
I've seen this happened 3 times personally in my life and it also happened to a friend. It's one of those dumb things people do. I've been so lazy to remove my keys from my car. It's plain dumb to walk away from a car that is still running with the keys in the ignition.🤦
Well in hell holes like Atlanta yes. Where I live (also on East Coast) you can leave the car running with no problem. We don't have the scum low life criminals here. It's all about where you choose to live. Many places in USA are quite safe.
They not from here
that sound typical coming form a cop! it's your fault.
I'd purposely leave my kids in the car..who'd want my car with those little brats inside. 🤣
@@verreal it was a joke lol
Btw just because my name is tom doesn't mean I'm a man or identify as one 😉
( another joke in case you're mentally impaired)
I know not everybody is fortunate enough to have a push to start car but if at all possible please switch to a push to start this way you can lock the car while it is running and if they bust the window and try to drive off they won’t make it far.
I saw a video that was showing people stealing cars with a push start too. They use some device that can pick up the car keys info and then drive off with it. I have one. But hoping to be able to keep it and no one will take it!!
@@kate0913kme the good thing is that those cars are easier to track than older cars and most criminals aren’t willing to go through all that for a car they know they’re gonna go to jail for. my mom’s car got stolen and was used in a homicide but they tracked it fairly easily and fast at that.
@@EBKDanteMustDie that's good to know.
IN A CITY WHERE YOU GOT TO MANY LAY-Z PEOPLE IS NOT A SURPRICE THAT A CAR CAN BE STOLEN WITH NO PROBLEMO.
George Carlin
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."
let me guess. the parking lot is there. and all they had to do was park in the parking space. turn off the engine. and take the key with them? LoL. that sounds so difficult! ^^
There you go,..... and they call People intelligent. Go ahead, leave your car running, just have Ubers number handy.
4 seconds my charger was gone

It's surprising that police are giving advice to people who want to commit insurance fraud.
Don't know about the USA, but in the Netherlands your insurance won't compensate irresponsibility or plain stupidity.
Fu cheif. How about we throw the book at car theives, it will not be tolerated at all type of attitude.
We all live by the choices we make.
A lot comes down to where you live, Atlanta is the new Chicago and you definitely don’t wanna tempt those people
See a similarty here in more than one way Chicago/Atlanta who runs it and culprits mainly

Aha. I get the double meaning now.
