There is no activity that can’t be made worse by having interactions with law enforcement.
This is probably the least controversial comment in the entire comment section of this video
too often ignorant, irresponsible & indulgent as they are belligerent, volatile, & dangerous
The same can be said for most people.

A comment only a true Cop-Hater could manage to dig up from a brain filled with saw dust.
Let me get this straight, there was a bike lane but 30+ riders were riding slowly in the road?
shocker, road bikes in the road. Who woulda thought.
Cyclists can use the full lane
Considering how distracted most drivers are nowadays - you couldn’t pay me to ride a bike on the streets of Atlanta.
These people are cruisin’ for a bruisin’.
THERE IS A FINE LINE BETWEEN RIGHT AND....
DEAD RIGHT!
Not really. It's rather obvious and painted in varying shades of red.
Take a close look at that picture. The bikers are not in the bike lane. They are taking up the entire lane of traffic.
This is typical for bike riders.
Some civilised nations actually legislate that when there is a bike rider in a lane they have the right to that lane..
and I mean a "vehicle" lane..
e.g. when turning at and intersection, roundabout, narrow road....
@@JohnSmith-pl2bkthe US doesn’t have the infrastructure for that… I like biking but bikers are laughable. The laws and infrastructure aren’t set up for them but they want to act like it is. This just pits bikes and cars against each other. Cars will win everyday
@@JohnSmith-pl2bk 🤣😂🤣🤣
You just lied. It is not typical but you see it that way.
@@shadow13265This doesn't put cyclists and car drivers against each other. What are you talking about?
So how many STOP signs, red lights and crosswalks did you run?
Certainly you can understand the difference in a 2 ton car going at 30 mph needing to stop at a stop sign, where as a 30 lb bike traveling at 10-15 mph that can slow down with no blind spots isnt nearly as dangerous if there is no traffic. Cyclists are far less of a danger on crosswalks than cars.
I've been riding a bicycle for well over 50 years and when you have cyclist 3 to 4 abreast with 2 or so riding outside of the bicycle lane then you are asking for trouble, this is one of the reasons why bicyclist will get such a bad rap, group rides they will tend to HOG up the roadways thinking it's their right to do so, keeping these cyclist in check probably saved some ones life down the road. When one of these cyclist are riding solo and that is of course if they dare to do so, for sure their attitude will not be the same, every time I see a group ride like this riding as like this, I will always say and think to myself, what a bunch of nut cases, then when one get hit by a car and gets hurt, they'll try to put the blame on the driver of the car, myself, I will stay away from such group rides, I like riding solo and if I will ride with others, 5 to 6 total riding double file at most.
You can tell they don't care about car commuters
If your are going to 'Enforce' the law, it might be good to understand what the law actually is, rather than just make up crap on their own.....
Until a serious injury, I used to ride a couple of thousand miles a year on public roads. I also road raced cycles. I always respected the rights of vehicles, and that respect was almost often returned, 99.9% of the time. As a vehicle driver, I have seen outrageous behavior by activist cyclist, like fanning out across two lanes of a uphill two lane road to hold back vehicles while they pedal at 2.5mph. That kind of behavior only causes resentment. Show some respect and you will receive some respect.
You know I'm something of a cyclist myself
Cyclist need show respect Drivers respect even though drivers don't respect them to begin with
"That kind of behavior only causes resentment. Show some respect and you will receive some respect." - completely nonsensical. How can you show respect when someone else is the one disrespecting motorists? Literally impossible. You aren't every single cyclist at every single encounter. Also, hogging the road doesn't justify grievous bodily harm. Get in your car five minutes earlier if you're in such a rush that 30 seconds causes you to maliciously endanger other's lives in a fit of road rage. I know you're not saying you're disrespectful, I'm just pointing out that attitude is what road ragers use to rationalise antisocial behaviour.
@@noctisocculta4820 30 seconds? Try 45 minutes up a two-lane mountain road at less than 5mph. I can't give you an accurate speed because that is the lowest sped my vehicle registers. Yes, needlessly hogging the road does not justify grievous harm, but it can cause needless road rage, especially when the riders respond to horn honks by slowing down and giving the single finger salute. Riding single file is safer, more respectful to tax paying vehicles, and won't slow down the peloton, in fact it may speed them up by drafting. Have a good and safe ride.
@@smal1393studies have shown riding single file is NOT safer and you should know cyclists pay taxes as well so there is no hierarchy based on tax contributions.
As a trucker I've recently taken up bicycling... The entitlement I see from bicyclists is dumbfounding. Even on the path they run 2-3 wide right at you and expect everyone to yield to them. Don’t forget, all those idiot bicycle riders are also idiot car drivers too! They learnt the road rules and their habits driving cars, so there’s that!
There are jacka$$es on both sides of the issue.
Group ride. Yeah, as multi-decade bicycle rider I know exactly what that means -- they clogged up the road impeding traffic due to an exaggerated sense of entitlement. The issue is you CANNOT LEGALLY BLOCK THE LANE IF YOU CAN'T MAINTAIN THE SPEED LIMIT. It would have been nice if Mr. Outraged Attorney would have mentioned that.
They had a bike lane, but too many using at same time which causes bikes to spill over into the lanes. This is a stupid problem.
The driver did not obey the law sport.
Police and drivers often think that in the presence of bike lane, bicyclists are not allowed on pavement. But bicyclists have the rights and duties of operators of motorized vehicles, and there is no duty to stretch a small group over more than 1000 f. There is no minimal speed outside limited access highways. Of course, there are some partially codified rules of co-existence, but this group was not blocking the traffic. Where I live, you must know how to pass horse buggies, horse riders, skateboard riders (mostly young women in very modest attire), and aggressive passing is just not done.
Yes these biker's ALWAYS be hogging up the roads without any regards to law's and safety..😊
Bikes have the right to the entire lane. The bike lane is intended to provide a safer space, but bikes are not required to stay in the bike lane.

I am a cyclist, drive a car and cannot stand most cyclists. The entitlement factor people have when riding a bicycle is astonishing. These people straddle the bike and car lane or if there are multiple riders ride side by side extending all the way out into the car lanes. I mean what the hell?? Bike lanes were made so that cyclists could share the road in their own lane. Not so they could inconvenience cars driving in the lane for cars!
I find car drivers to be even more entitled than cyclists who are just out trying to ride.
The bike losers riding three and four across a lane so cars can't pass is completely ridiculous. There is a specific bike lane there and yet I see two deep in the car lane. Yes cyclists need to be charged with failure to share roadway for this.
Atlanta cops gotta keep the roads safe for cars. Bikes have the same status as speed bumps. Although cars are heavy, bikes and bikers leave nasty marks on Beemers in high speed collisions.
Share the road means just that …. If you’re on a bike be aware that a 2 ton vehicle might smash you flat…and if you’re in a 2 ton vehicle that cyclists are not paying attention to road laws and once they cross over the line into the kill zone the standard points system shall apply…
It's odd that towns spend millions of dollars on bike lanes & bike trails but the bicyclists ride the middle of the road impeding traffic.
The whole point of a group ride like this is to block trafic. But its perfectly legal.
No, actually, it's not "perfectly legal." Georgia statute says so. But, then, we could make the same argument for motor vehicles, couldn't we. And don't pretend like you've never heard of a traffic jam that takes so long to clear that by the time you drive by where it was supposed to be there's no one there but a few crickets and other drivers looking surprised, too.
Bicycle group rides are a menace. There is almost always some sheepdog trying to be the one making traffic avoid the rest of the pack by riding way out in traffic.
FOX 5 this was your opportunity to detail what the exact laws are for bicycle riding on a street, and you did not.

Oh, you mean like motor vehicle drivers who blow through stop signs, turn in front of cyclists, pass cyclists within 6" or so? Like that?
In my state it's perfectly legal to blow stop signs and lights on a bicycle depending on conditions. The state legislature did this years ago. They time themselves doing laps in a PUBLIC space and post them to an online leader board which promotes speeding and not slowing down. They don't want to stop to let people cross the road as it might 'affect their lap time', so they end up running people down. Irony is cars on that same road have to stick to 20mph, but our laws don't cover bicycles, so the cyclists feel they can go as fast as they want. They ride in Pelotons so increase the speed for the ones at the back by shielding them from wind so they can gain even more speed. They ride like they're on a race track when it's a PUBLIC space. I ride a bicycle to work 2 days a week on a designated cycle lane. This is not a problem when it's a 2 or 3 lane road. But when it becomes a single lane road, it's an issue since where it's a single lane, it's outside the populated areas and the speed limits are up to 50mph and motorists are running into bikes that are barely going 15mph
Drivers shouldn't be passing cyclists closer than 3', turning in front of cyclists, running cyclists off the road, throwing garbage at cyclists, etc., etc., etc. And, yet, here were are.
Bicyclists using busy roads are road hazards! If you can't keep up with traffic you shouldn't be on the road!
Do you have a license? If so, how did you get it?
Well, they can restrict slower moving vehicles from certain roadways, to just give a blanket ban on certain modes of transport would violate a litany of civil rights. In states with Amish they ride their horse and buggies on the highway. In most states, horses actually have the right of way over motor vehicles.
@@danielboone8435 Many busy interstates ban slow moving vehicles such as farm vehicles and bicycles for safety reasons just like they ban pedestrian traffic. A bicycle going 10MPH on a highway where the speed limit is 70 or more is asking for a bad wreck to happen. Until a bicycle can keep above the minimum of 45MPH they should be restricted and anyone violating that minimum should be ticketed and removed from the roadway!
@@phillhuddleston9445 Yeah... interstates. I covered that in my reply, numbnuts.
@@phillhuddleston9445 Yeah... interstates. I covered that already Nimrod.
Bicyclists do not need to take over the road. They literally TAKE over and block traffic. If they want the same rights to the road.. how bout stopping at stop signs or obeying simple traffic law and paying fees to pay for said roads...
So say the people who use the road but don't think the traffic laws apply to them. Stop signs, anyone?
Ride for a couple weeks and you will realize the difficulty with stop signs and how drivers treat them. If you understand the purpose of the stop sign you will see why bikes and cars have slightly differently approaches practically.
@@bermchasin The difficulty is you're stopping your momentum, and it takes a whole lot of energy to get back up to speed. Doesn't change the law or purpose. I think the former slows down for them and disregards them with a certain amount of guilt, and the latter figures it requires too much energy, and it's just not practical, I'm only risking me, everyone does it, no one gets ticketed, and I'm entitled, etc. On the upside, they would get a better workout.
@@daveg5857 A better workout and gears that wear out far sooner. Not arguing the legality, but there are many things that are illegal that shouldn't be, and while you can wait for the government to fix every bad law, others will learn how to practically follow the rules while optimizing safety and efficiency. Stopping at every stop sign often slows down traffic. However, I try to ride routes that are more devoid of stop signs to eliminate this issue.
All up and down Mt.Vernon rd Dunwoody at 5AM til.....health conscious?? what about cars going 40mph around you I mean really 😒
FL cyclist so no idea what the GA laws are. There is no such thing as a "Group" ride by statute in FL. Each rider is an individual operator of a vehicle. If you are in violation of the statutes expect a ticket. Had a guy not two days ago cross a double yellow and drive through an intersection to pass me. I was as far right as I could be, there was no oncoming traffic and he had a green. It was the safest pass he could make and I had no problem with it. The worst vehicle operators are the nice-holes. Slowed down to 15mph on a 5am ride to let a woman pass on a two lane. She had two cars behind her. Instead of passing she slows and matches my speed (no oncoming traffic). I slow to 10, still won't pass. Finally I pull off the road and she passes with a smile and a wave. The now seven cars behind her were not smiling at me when they passed.
They are some of the worst.
You are incredibly ignorant of bicycle laws
Actually I have been on many communty ride and paid bike rallies where we took a whole lane of the road. Just like they close the road for running races ect. They happen all the time.
@@JAM661 Cool, same. And to re-iterate. There is no statute in FL that recognizes "Group" rides and treats cyclists in group rides any different than individual riders.
@@stevenburkhardt1963 In GA, sure. But not in FL which is what I said.
I am a cyclist. It is rude and unsafe when you have 3 or 4 cyclists riding side by side taking up the entire lane. Group rides need to follow strict protocol. Share the road goes both ways.
It's always a Beamer driver that tips the apple cart. COP giving a warning from a position of ignorance of the laws.
Cyclists have been flaunting rules of the road for decades. They don’t pay taxes through licensing fees but want more rights than other users of the roads. They also believe that every recreational pathway that’s put in is specifically for cycling. Wrong! It’s time they were charged when running into pedestrians on these shared pathways. When I used to walk my dog they wouldn’t give you any warning and several times I got clipped. I started carrying a walking stick as a spoke remover. cyclists have become a nuisance and we need to put laws in place to ensure everyone else is safe.
Drivers kill 40,000 people every year in the US. How many people are killed by bicycles? Your fear is misplaced.
Also, driver fees don't come close to covering the cost of roads. In Georgia, driving fees and gas taxes cover 50.3% of road maintenance. That means that the other 49.7% is paid out of the general fund BY EVERYONE WHO PAYS SALES, INCOME, OR PROPERTY TAX (search for the Tax Foundation, How Are Your State's Road's Funded?).
You act as though only drivers can use the road, when they only pay half of the cost. Who's the entitled one?
@@rb810810 Where is it written that vehicle taxes must support 100% of the road construction and maintenance? There is a public good in having well-constructed and maintained roads. If not for trucks on public roads, how will the bike riders get their tires and spandex? How will the emergency vehicles get to the scene of an accident when a bone headed bike rider runs a stop sign and gets hit by a law abiding motorist?
@@smal1393 I'm glad you agree that the roads are for everyone.
@@rb810810 Yes, even cyclists that flaunt traffic laws get to use the roads that tax paying citizen's support.
Drivers have been flaunting rules of the road since the invention of rules of the road, going back to when Henry had to get a license. And wouldn't you know it? Drivers are so self-entitled that they think they're the only ones who have a right to use the roads! It's time drivers were charged when running into cyclists on those shared roads. And, by the way, I hope you realize that you just admitted to the premeditated injury of cyclists. Might want to rethink that and remember that the Internet is forever.
Just because they are in a group doesn’t give them the right to cycle 3 or 4 abreast in the cycle lane. The police officer was correct because what they were doing was unsafe.
It is not at all unsafe. Riding abreast literally makes the cyclists more visible and less likely to experience a close pass which could hurt them. And it is legal so smh…

It is on streets with a 30 mph and they are pedaling 2 mph. Smh
@@damianoandreaarrigoni4401 In the state where I live, impeding the flow of traffic is a traffic offence. It makes no difference if you are in a vehicle, motorcycle, bicycle, or on foot, impeding traffic is still an offence. And, given the physics if a motor vehicle vs. a cyclist, I believe it is in the best interest of the cyclist to ride respectfully, courteously, and safely.
@@smal1393 Bikes are legally entitled to use the road. As long as they are moving, they are legally not impeding traffic. They are no different than a car driving slowly in front of you. You may not like it, but you are legally required to put up with it.
Talk about entitlement... If there is a bike lane YOU HAVE TO USE IT. YOU CANT RIDE 3 ACROSS IN THE ROAD. Complete Karens....
I am a cyclist, but far too many riders are deliberately trying to provoke drivers. In stead of riding they want to take over the road ride two or three abreast and talk.
Knowing the police M.O. they would have ID everyone, probably called for back up, the cop probably thought they hit the jackpot for high crime participants.
You're garbage
Most places, bicycle laws are clear. No bike lane? You should ride all the way to the right. No specifics here , but a big group like that! Most likely they where riding double instead of single file.
No one is required to ride all the way to the right. Because drivers don't look before opening their doors, even though they are legally required to do so.
That's not the law 'most places.' Bicycles and other users have the right the full lane.
riding doubles is alowed on every street/road
. Allowed! Maybe, but with so many distracted drivers, not a good idea.
@@rb810810Every state is different, like helmet laws and the likes, but you're right about the opening door thing. There's been deaths here in the city because of it.
Don't bike (or drive) without a camera. So many people don't know or understand the law, COPS INCLUDED.
They aren’t suppose to ride more than two side by side. They are suppose to follow the same road rules. And yield to pedestrians.
what about the car?

Why is it that Atlanta police never miss an opportunity to prove how downright stupid they are?
Well they APDhas eradicated all other crime in Atl so …
they want to 'keep up' with the rest of the crooked and inept cops shops around the country.
Atlanta police are not that special, they all rarley pass up the opportunity to show the world their ignorance and rudeness.
Lack of accountability for anything they do...a nationwide problem.
Well what else are they supposed to do with all that excess tax $$ in their coffers?
Things go smoothly until the keystone cops get involved.
I've ridden across the US on a bicycle, done bicycle messenger work in San Fransisco, Oakland, and Miami, and rode in MANY group rides. The "rules of the road" are written for vehicles, yet bicycles are expected to follow those same rules. That is unrealistic, and I choose to stay off the roads until the bicycles rules catch up with reality...unless it's a necessity like vehicle in the shop or something.
Now I stick to mountainbike trails. They're more exciting because of the challenging features, and crashes happen WAY more often, but it's still safer because vehicles do a lot more damage than just falling on rocks roots trees and dirt.
Drivers: Get on the sidewalk!
Pedestrians: Get on the road!
There's no winning for bikes.. even though roads were originally made for horses and bicycles.
The first roads weren't "designed". They were simply what happens when riders on horses frequently take the same path.
Those idiots who act like they own the streets on bicyclist should be charged with false impersonation of a law enforcement officer.
