Not record related…..just want to say a thank you too you. Our local pub quiz came down to a tie breaker question last night and i had the winning answer thanks to you. The question. “What is the smallest county in the uk”. £50 worth of beer tokens went down a treat I owe you one. 👍

I don't think you can call Tapestry underrated - it was massively popular in the early seventies. Definitely a classic album…

Well that's what you would expect from a cast of people that weren't even alive when the record was released.

I think his point was it's faded from memory as the huge hit (deservedly) that it was - and it should get kudos in 2024 with contemporary audiences.

Very enjoyable podcast. Can’t agree with Dark Side and Ziggy Stardust the brilliant soundtracks of my youth. But agree about the White Album. Some great songs mixed with a lot of poor fillers. Look forward to visiting your shop one day. Cheers from Perth Australia.

The comments about Radiohead reminded me that I did own Kid A in the 90s but it was a burned CD which someone did for me and therefore(like any other burned CDs I owned) rarely got listened to so I can't remember what my thoughts were about it but I have heard so many people rave about it over the years and like you say it is often in 10 ten best albums lists etc. I have a really soft spot for Ok Computer as me and my sister played it all the time and their performance in 97 at Glastonbury(my first visit) will always be special as they were defo the highlight. Thom Yorke is pretentious as but that doesn't stop me liking 2 of their albums (other one being The Bends as first album to me only has one decent song!) Good point made about Queen albums as I have always thought they were a hard listen and their Greatest hits both shine way above individual albums for me. I made my own version of the white album shaving off all the fillers and (don't shoot me) did my own track order beginning with Helter Skelter. Enjoying all these so far guys, keep up the good work - Lisa Lynch.

My favourite episode so far! What a corker. I'm a massive Bowie fan so obvs Tom is wrong about Ziggy but I completely agree with Chris on Kid A. What was that album all about?!
Keep it up chaps, love it and one day I'm gonna pop up from here in the South East to take a look round the shop and I'm sure, buy something!

Love the podcasts - keep them coming! Totally agree with some of the nominations - have never understood Dark Side of The Moon, love the Greatest Hits and Wish You Were Here but never got into DSOTM. Kid A, utter rubbish although not having OK Computer anywhere near this list - that is a masterpiece, listen to the lyrics they were 20 years ahead of their time. Would also agree with another comment that Carole King isn't really underrated, it is known as a classic and a brilliant album.

They bring up Tapestry because it should be more popular even among today’s generation! Such a fantastically written album!!

Thing with the white album it has some of their very best songs on it, but there’s also a lot of filler towards the end imo.

Interesting the White Album was called 'disappointing' - where could you go after Sgt. Pepper apart from exploding into all the crazy fragments and ideas that it contains in it's beautiful multitude?
It has a unique atmosphere which is distinctive, a perfect track sequencing, and WAY MORE than 5/6 good tracks.
Revolution 9 is a piece of weird modern art that was smuggled into every home (confusing pop consumers in the process). The sheer diversity of genre (rock, folk, country, blues, pop, big band) and yet unified Beatles-y sound makes it a monumental achievement.
What other band had the sheer BALLS to go from Revolution 1 to Honey Pie to Savoy Truffle to Cry Baby Cry to Revolution 9 to Good Night on one side on vinyl - and make it work?! GENIUS.

I’ll remember this for..Jude sill wipes the floor over Joni Mitchell……..with the meager catalog against this legend….this is right up there with the previous podcast quote…all bill Evans records are the same……a tad overstated maybe? LOL

As much as I love it, I can see the white album being overrated, and I agree with dark side of the moon too. Animals is my favourite pink floyd album.
The Bowie album doesn’t have much that grabs me.
Don’t care for Kid A either but don’t think it’s overrated, because of how important it was.
About tranquility base I actually think it’s an underrated album and I prefer it to AM.
Lots to pick from but my personal choice would probably be Morning Glory by Oasis.

Kid A is fair - but the general comments about Radiohead are a bit wide of the mark.
It's definitely a more obtuse and particular album - not one of theirs I go back to a lot I admit- but it's an excellent pivot from guitar indie rock to electronica/jazz influences. Mesmering rhythms and textures - but if you're not in the mood, it's not gonna hit.
I personally can understand why Thom Yorke and co. 'sulked' when OK Computer was lionised as the best thing since sliced bread and they were put through the publicity mill - rockers of the 70s took drugs, Radiohead just withdrew and let the work speak for itself.
