This is why I buy the 1/4 inch beaver tail and not modify any of my old milspec 1911s. The cost of putting a lot of work in a basic and inexpensive 1911 just doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah most people don't realize all the work that involved.

What an excellent video! Especially the drop in videos and pictures to show what you are talking about! 10/10

Excellent! On Sage Dynamics new 2011 tl11 vid he talked about the wizardry of the 2011 and I commented recommended this channel to learn all the answers to whatever question people have. To me...starting w one that has the beaver tail grip safety and one of the few manufacturers that have proper front sight channel you can swap out is a necessity and I don't even have a 1911 yet.

that's exactly why I changed over one of my government models. I wanted a commander hammer and had to change the grip safety to get clearance! I really didn't mind because it looked better together.
    :)
great information on the reasons why it worked that way!
    thanks!

Old school Mil Spec grip safety hammer bite cuts do go away and scars eventually become almost unnoticeable after one goes to a beavertail safety.

So I have an Auto Ordinance 1911 A1 with the GI grip safety, where can I find a beaver tail that doesn't require gunsmithing?
I'm trying to eliminate hammer bite.
If y'all can point me in the right direction it'll be awesome.

Check out our website for grip safeties we have a lot to choose from for the GI models. As for a 40, It will depend on the original cal of he pistol for how much work will be needed to convert. We have some videos listed about this.

Spending time and money insulting the perfection of John Brownings' design for the sake of cosmedic difference and having zero effect on ones ability to shoot is a waste.

He wasn't perfect, also a lot of components in his pistols he himself did not like. The grip safety is a good example, that's not something browning wanted on the 1911 it was at the request of the military.
