- Well I didn't nail the figure eight :( But got some practice in and figured out that my cooling system still needs a lot of work.
This surface was so hard to slide on! It has so much grip that it made it hard to break loose and keep the turbo spooled. Looking forward to getting more practice, now we have a set of chunked tires we need to blow the tread off! :)

Is this a 4wd? Been thinking about buying a Blue 4wd 2.5L Turbo Subaru Impreza WRX STI 2003. Just finding confirmation it's driftable without breaking in the winter and summer.
This is awd. The ability to skid on dry pavement like this will come down to what center and rear differentials you have.
with some scill+ slic tyres you can even drift stock subaru outback 2,5l 121kw 4x4 :D
I have done it on gravel, snow and with slicks on asfalt as well you just need a f load of balls and practise
@@rihonugis3391 Haha this was 6 months ago and i actually owned a RWD Blue one a while ago but sold it 3 months ago, i nowdays drive a Nissan GTR R33 and i'm loving it, i also own a Toyota Chaser which i'm not driving yet since i'm making it a street registered drift car, so i'm saving up money, i loved the subie but it broke alot and just got too expensive but it is definetly my favorite owned car along with the R33 haha.
I wouldn’t recommend “drifting” it. These cars can “reliably” power slide through some hairpins, and some dynamic drifting is possible on tarmac, but the only place where you can reliably get sideways in a wrx is on loose surfaces. The problem lays in the cars differentials and trans as they weren’t built to take the abuse of true drifting. They can handle an ebrake turn one in a while, but without a rally transmission and differentials, your going to be shredding your drivetrain.

You really need to use an ebrake to do "drifting" in an AWD car. Actually, handbrake turns were created so that AWD cars could efficiently oversteer in rally races as they created way more understeer than normal. However, doing so with a stock diff will cause issues in a-lot of cars, thus meaning you might have to set your ebrake to disengage rwd or unlock the center diff "sending power to the front wheels when ebrake is applied," It'll still be a whole different animal than most other drift cars, but you'll begin to learn the potentials of your car. The r32 gtr's transfer case is especially great because you can switch between RWD and AWD. However still not giving you the joy of going completely sideways in a FWD/AWD open diff setup

@@thatsclassified1 no, for awd g37x's you can make a jumper lead off of your awd control unit to make a button to switch to rwd. You're likely to blow a fuse if you switch it with the car on tho. Then you can look into diffs for drifting like an LSD. But still unless you can build some power or do scandanavian flicks you're limited to rwd drifting and no awd drifting.

You gotta keep on it bro, that pushes the apex out. U letting off is making the swing tight, get in the slide and stay on it. Dont ever dump the rpm's, thats when u get front heavy and catch unwanted grip. Aka- burn out fails of mustangs going sideways into on coming traffic.
Its a beautiful delicate balance, thats why its so cool to watch. True skill to slide around/ keep control/ and flow into the next.
Edit: im still figuring out my 17 sti, so im only speaking from experience. Going from rwd pozy trucks to an awd sedan was a huge mind fuck.
I never ever ever expected my first swing to turn out sooooooooooooooo wide. It was a real moment of "oh shit, im back to not knowing wut the fuck im doing!" And now im in a 40k car and not some 6k beater.

Is this WRX rear wheel drive?? because if im drifting in de snow, the moment i start countersteering it straightens out immediatly. only way to prevent this is giving the front less power.

It comes down to the drivetrain. I have an LSD and 6speed trans.
You can drift anything even fwd crapy cars having awd actually helps a lot and this gen wrx has lsd in both ends that also helps
The 2002 wrx does not have LSD from the factory and has a TON of understeer on pavement 😂.
@@Supertuner are you sure I thought they removed the lsds on 2008? i am aware of the understeer yo need to enter hard and then slightly press the break at corner entry to make the ass stepout then you floor it once you have enough angle or enter with a little scandy Flick
Yeah 100% sure it didn’t come factory with LSD in the us. But yeah that method works great, just not on pavement. At least not easily lol.

I’m thinking of buying a 2015 Wrx or a 2017 BZR . I know the WRX is way faster, but the BZR is rear wheel drive so for drifting it’s better. Which one do you recommend me to get???
Dude that’s a great question and you’re on track! It fully depends what you want to do with it. If you go WRX drifting will be out of the question especially in stock form. BRZ will be a lot cheaper and drift. But if it’s a daily and you live where there is snow AWD is nice!
I would go with brz. You get a better platform for future mods. You can put a turbo kit on eventually.

Factory is open. This was with an Aftermarket lsd. This surface was so grippy. It was old rough corrugated concrete

I had a really dumb over heating issue. Like really hot after normal driving. No codes. Lines good. It was so simple its no wonder no one thought of it.. maybe you had, but next time first thing you should always do is check the seal under the radiator cap. If the rubber is chunked or split or ripped it won't seal with causes there to be NO pressure and then over heat.
Would also upgrade fans if that's not the issue
Looks like you opted for the cheaper way with stock fans.
I had a similar issue at one point. The tabs on the radiator cap were bent and not holding the cap on as tight. I have aftermarket fans but the real problem is I need a serious shroud, really god fans and honestly a better radiator 😂

I actually don’t have my diff controller hooked up. So it runs 30% to the front and 70% power to the rear. I do have a rear LSD so that helps.
This surface was just really tough to slide.

I didnt do it while I owned my WRX with stock drivetrain, as I knew it couldnt handle it, but not everyone does their research - this video will be enough for them to do it, break their WRX and then say 'WRX is SHIT' and spread the bad word about subaru - we dont wan that now, do we? It wouldnt be that hard to mention that this is not a stock gearbox in the video or description, is it?

You can adjust the amount of power sent to the front wheels and back wheels with the sti six speed. Mine is set 30% front 70% rear

It really depends on the differentials. This is usually 100000x easier but this surface was extremely grippy and I wasn’t running fight tire pressure making it very challenging.
Max Cotton Drifter there are many ways to initiate a drift. Weight transfer, shift lock, power over, clutch kick, and handbrake. For me a four wheel drift is still a drift. But not front wheel. back in 2004 a front drive civic won a local drift event in Oahu by dragging the handbrake through the turns and everyone was pissed! I’m embarrassed to even admit it but it’s 100% true story

and to be honest, 2 years ago when I was 12 I saw Ken Block on RUclips driving 4wd cars and he inspired me. I wouldn't be drifting at the level I am now with him.
Max sorry I read your comment super quick and miss read it. I get what you’re asking now. There is a lot of debate about that tbh. I use the term drift loosely although I wouldn’t say this is not very controlled drifting or power sliding.

U wish it’s probably head gasket if it was a cooling problem you probably turned it into a head gasket issue these things are very heat sensitive
I drift my 2019 WRX Premium model all the Time lol. As long as your tires are run down and have no traction your good. You just have to don’t give a fuck about your tires so... no beautiful rims etc. my rims got black shit all over them but I don’t give a fuck. I just drift it and I love it. 😂🥲❤️

hellppppp please I've binge watched every video you've put out and you have become a huge inspiration to me i just got my 02 wrx as of yesterday, same color as yours, and have been using rpg and rallysportdirect to buy all my parts but i was wondering if you had any info on installing your wrc widebody kit it looks stunning on your car, i know that the wrap is what makes it look molded but i was looking for videos on install and some pictures I've seen look bad any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, keep up the great work . -Luke

I installed the wide body before starting my channel sorry I don’t have vids of that. But it will take a lot of time to fit and make look good. You’re going to need to sand and drill and cut the body of your car and the new panels. Just takes time patience and finesse.

Everything I’ve gotten from rpg has been great! My front fenders are not made by the company I got them from any more. The rear are just eBay.
