I had two patients in one day with DKA. One had a sugar of 624 and the other was 580. Both were passed out with Kussmaul respirations. It was crazy!!! The next day, someone came in with HHNS. Sugar was 800!! She was awake and aware of everything. It was the weirdest thing to see such a contrast between them.
I have been watching his videos for 3 days now, I can say that I’m excited to have found this video. I can answer endocrine questions with my eyes closed. You guys wish me luck, I’m going in for my NCLEX in 2hrs!
My Type 1 son was 605 at dx in DKA. He had a virus and his doctor gave him an antibiotic and didn't test his BG even when I said "could it be diabetes? My aunt had diabetes as a child." My son went on a science field trip and got sicker and sicker and then when he got back, he looked really thin. He also wet the bed at the age of 11. Finally got the right dx and they saved his life in ICU. Missed Type 1 dx happen ALL the TIME!! Lots of adults called Type 2 even though they have Type 1! Watch for those 20 and 30 yo's. Thank you nurses!

I have had “DKA” twice since feb 2022. The first time I was vomiting, breathing weird, 635 blood glucose, acidic, almost to the level of passing out, but they said I wasn’t throwing ketones. I think this was due to drinking large amounts of chaga mushroom tea. It’s like any insulin I had left me completely (my eyesight improved drastically from contacts AND glasses to not needing either - insulin makes my eyesight worse). The second, I think I’d been in it for a month - maybe the exogenous ketones I drank caused it?). I ended up with SVTs and that’s what I went to the hospital for. My blood sugars were in the 300s despite eating low carb/keto for months and I felt fine, though I was in the middle of the flu. I’d been checking my ketones and they were high. No doctor will entertain the reason for why this happened despite my low carb way of eating and intermittent fasting (longest time was 20 hours). I had lost 35 pounds and was feeling amazing. But now after insulin I’ve gained it all back. It’s depressing.

Comprehensive Pharmacy Review(8th edition) states "INSULIN ASPART IS APPROVED FOR INTRAVENOUS ADMINISTRATION." (It also mentions regular insulin to be given I.V - like you mentioned.) Your video says only regular insulin. Im confused..

I just recently started insulin for what the the doctors believe to be type 1 and the day before I went to hospital I feel like I might have been in some form of dka. I didn't get the abominable pain but everything else lined up, my blood sugar was 20 mmol/l and ketones at 5.1 mmol/l.
