    To counter one of the criticism’s in this video, doctor strange explained that he contained the spell but some “squeaked through” implying that a small number of people who knew Spider-Man came though but due to the spell being contained not everyone came through which explains why others like Harry, Gwen or alternate MJ are not there. Peter 2 being awkward is in character.

    • @american1207
      @american1207 2 года назад +8

      I wish they had made No Way Home a 2 parter. The spell just felt awfully contrived for me. It can erase peoples memories but also requires Strange to manipulate time, space, and the multiverse to do so. Why? I heard originally America Chavez was supposed to open the multiverse for him accidentally and tbh that would've made more sense than Strange doing it.

    • @Scsigs
      @Scsigs 2 года назад +2

      @@american1207 The film's 3rd act was in a bit of flux for a little while because of a mix of the pandemic & who they could get to come back. The pandemic also affected the production of Doctor Strange 2, as it was supposed to come out first. When DS2 was delayed due to that, Sony & Disney used reshoots to reverse where they take place in regards to continuity. Parts of the movie also feel a bit rushed due to not properly explaining things with the magic, or things coming off as contradictory.
      Also, the spell doesn't manipulate time, space, & the multiverse. It works on a universal scale to erase memories & physical proof that something happened. With how badly Peter was causing Strange to fuck it up, since Strange said it was delicate, the spell couldn't properly be cast, so something fucked up & the barriers between universes started to break down because of that. That's why that started happening. As a result, it fucked up so badly that it started pulling in people who know Peter Parker is Spider-Man from other universes in the few seconds before Strange contained it & why the second spell stopped the universal breakdown & sent the villains & other Spider-Men home. It's tied intrinsically to people's minds, so it makes sense that the second spell would solve the problem by cutting off the reason why the other people would've come to the MCU by making people forget that Peter is Spider-Man.
      As for America Chavez, yeah, it might've been a bit better, but it's not like what they did instead doesn't make sense.

    • @american1207
      @american1207 2 года назад +2

      @@Scsigs I get erasing people's memory but then it also teleports like 10 dudes from other universes across different time lines. Teleportation is manipulating space, and ripping dead people from the past is the manipulation of time. Both manipulate the multiverse. The spell just makes no sense. What does manipulating consciousness on earth have to do with time, space, and the multiverse? It's just an overly complicated, convoluted spell. Why does strange need to access and manipulate the minds and lives of all these things and trillions upon trillions of beings and planets just to mind wipe 1 planet?
      It's like they had 2 stories here but decided to cram it into 1. The film should either tackle Peter's identity or the multiverse, not half ass both of them.

    • @Scsigs
      @Scsigs 2 года назад

      @@american1207 I literally said the spell wasn't what brought the villains & 2 other Spider-Men into the MCU. The spell just momentarily weakened the inter-dimensional barriers that the multiverse has due to how it was being fucked with. Strange changing the spell on the fly as he was made it go haywire. It was then tied to people knowing Peter's Spider-Man because of how the spell was supposed to work & they were transported to the MCU. THAT'S how they were dragged into the MCU. Through how we see in the film where they show up, clearly they were teleported to where they showed up from where they were because the dimensional barriers were momentarily weakened.
      The time travel aspect, I can give you that it doesn't make any sense. I can't find any real way to justify it & I hope they give an explanation for it in the future because it needs one. I can overlook it personally because I like what it gave us, but it's a plot hole that never gets addressed even in a throwaway piece of dialogue & no one questions it. It also doesn't make sense how Otto knew Osborne was Green Goblin or how Sandman knew Green Goblin died by his own glider because it's a big plot point in SM2 that Harry didn't even know. I really wish they either rewrote those scenes (like having Tobey's Peter explain Osborne's death, as he was the only one of them who'd know, or have Strange do a spell to see how they died), or something to make them better.
      Well, in regards to Peter's identity & the multiverse, how they wanted it to go, I think, is fine. The film has a solid start to it & has a strong ending, as well as is pretty strong most of the way through. Where it falters is bits of the logic involved with the magic & everything that make you question things as opposed to being solid & you can go along for the ride with it. Like, Endgame is a bit wonky at times, but is more structurally sound when it comes to the logic so you don't question any of it. Unless you get confused by how the time travel is supposed to work, but I blame that on how some of the dialogue was written when they explained how the alternate timelines thing works & how the film presents how removing the stones from the new timelines will doom them as the source of confusion as opposed to the internal consistency of the time travel itself, as it's otherwise consistent within the film itself.
      That was long, sorry.
      TL;DR, the movie's got a good basis for the plot & story, but falters in the consistency of the logic of the magic & some of the characters that cause them to not make as much sense as they should.

    • @american1207
      @american1207 2 года назад +1

      @@Scsigs the spell was botched by strange and it's his spell that manipulates space, time, and the multiverse in an attempt to manipulate the consciousness of 1 planet. It just makes no sense. I get why the writers wrote it like that because it was the quickest way and they couldn't really think of a more organic way but it just comes across as convoluted, rushed, and lazy.
      I find what ignites the plot to be lazy and make no sense and when we get to the meat of the story it's just rushed and tbh it looks bad. Also the humor just didn't work for me so overall I didn't have a good time with really anything other than Willem Dafoe in the apartment. I did like the very ending after the 3rd act fight but I more so like the idea of it then the execution. Good place to end but just such a mess getting here and it's 1 of the marvel movies I can't really see myself ever rewatching. And Peter is just very annoying throughout the whole film.

      I don't think so when it comes to Dr. Strange cuz he really doesn't exist in Tobey's universe. It was just a throwaway line that leads to no where in Spider-Man 2.
      Not only that but if a Dr. Strange exists in his universe and if Tobey did ended up teaming up with him, then why he didn't bring it up when he literally sees a Dr. Strange in the MCU.
      I mean Tobey has the most experience over the years of being Spider-Man throughout his movies.
      Plus he comes into the MCU years after Spider-Man 3. Why should he be so shocked and surprised when he's basically depicted as this older, wiser Peter Parker/Spider-Man?? It's really fitting for his character.

This affects his life and his friends and families lives to the point where they have to live in Happy’s armored apartment and are constantly looked at in public. It also gets his friends rejected from college, which may not be an issue for Peter but definitely an issue for his friends.

The use of "scared of the dark" with vocals felt wrong to use after Peter A's death, and the gag with "Start a Riot" broke the pacing of a pretty important moment with some unneeded comedy.

    Regarding May, in NWH, they shove in our faces the fact that May “helps people”. They even go as far as copying Insomniac’s Aunt May motto: “If you help someone, you help everyone”. MCU’s May DID NOT EARN THIS. We see a hint of her being generous to others in FFH during the first scene i believe, and then her job in F.E.A.S.T, but that was it. In 3 movies they couldn’t show more, done more, have proper development of May’s altruistic ideals, etc. It’s something that SUDDENLY occurred in NWH and felt completely unearned.
    May’s “moral mission” mentioned in NWH made no sense to me whatsoever because it wasn’t shown in the previous 2 movies AT ALL. Her character is awful, her motivations are everywhere, she is not the beacon of morality that Peter needs as Spider-Man, and her fate could have been more impactful, but she was treated as a joke character for the first two movies and rushed for the third one.

    It was due to Sony, specifically Avi Arad(The Bastard) that forced him to include the Venom and Symbiote Storyline.
    So he tried to make the best use of cramming 2 stories into 1, and while it succeed in some regards, it failed in much more.

    We could conclude the point that why both Harrys, Mary Jane, Gwen, Captain Stacy, Raimi's Venom didn't come through because before they could come into the MCU, Strange contained the spell leaving only the villains and Peter 2 and 3 in this universe. As for why Electro came through, I can't really say much but my theory is that Max said himself that he was stuck in the grid absorbing data before dying so he could figured out Spider-Man's identity through digital data (maybe) hence making him one of those who knew Spider-Man's identity.

    1. Andrew & Tobey's Peters knew about how they were in the MCU through their Spider-Senses, which is also why they started shooting webs at each other. Tobey's Peter even has the line, "I have this sense that he (MCU Peter) needs my help," referencing it. Same with Andrew's Peter with him saying, _"Our_ help." Not only that, but they got dragged in right as their villains were as well, NYC has places like Time's Square where they broadcast things like breaking news, & it's shown that the Daily Bugle has connections to be able to broadcast their news livestreams on to those screens & other news organizations in the city would also be covering them to a lesser extent. We see MCU Peter watching 1 of the broadcasts after his fight with Green Goblin in Happy's apartment building & losing his Aunt May. I agree that it should've been made a bit more explicit in the dialogue, but it's not like you can't put 2 & 2 together, dude.
    2. The writers threw around the idea of bringing in Mary Jane, Gwen, & even the other 2 Aunt Mays while writing the movie. However, COVID restricted some of the people they could get in the movie &/or how they could've shot scenes with them. This is why Sandman only appears in his sand form, Lizard is in his mutated form, & why when they're transformed back to human, they reused the original blue screen footage from SM3 & TASM2 while Thomas Haden Church & Rhys Ifans provided voice acting for them. They were unable to be on the sets for actual shooting due to the pandemic.
    3. You say the MCU movies can't be smart...but other MCU movies exist that are. The Captain America sequels, I'll say Iron Man 3 tried to be pretty smart, & even Infinity War & Endgame were more than just the regular fun MCU movies. Hell, even Black Panther.
    4. How is Peter taking his mask off in front of people when his secret identity is already revealed supposed to create consequences when he's already passed those?
    5. The villains agreed to go along with Peter's plan to cure them & he has his Spider-Sense, which warns him about the Goblin coming out in the scene in Happy's apartment. How is his aunt exactly in danger when he can leap to action to protect her at any moment?
    6. I very much disagree that Tom's Peter didn't have character arcs in Homecoming or Far From Home & don't understand how anyone missed what they were trying to do there.
    7. The scene of them discussing their villains & shit is charming & funny. I don't get how you can hate that one.
    8. How in a movie where the entire point is to develop the main protagonist would you expect them to develop 5 villains? I mean, maybe a few, but I don't see it when that's not the intention of the film. I also don't understand how you can just ignore the great character development the movie gave Andrew's Peter.
    9. Stark's nanotech pairs to Doc Ock's arms because he rips off part of the suit, the nanotech get absorbed & incorporated into the arms, & sync with the tentacles' A.I. Peter's then able to pair the remote control in his suit with them. It's actually kinda smart because it's never stated they can't do this, but it's nanotech & can form into a lot of different things, so I don't get this complaint.
    10. Spider-Man has a healing factor. In this movie, when he gets blown up, he's shown limping over to May afterwards. His head didn't take any amount (or at least a lot) of the blast, so that adds up. And, Tobey's Peter took a lot of damage, but also clearly had a healing factor in SM1. Plus, he wasn't bleeding beforehand. Tom's Peter _was._

Like, I don't understand not liking moments like that. In a crossover like this, you WANT all those kinds of interactions. I personally felt the movie should've been a good 20 minutes longer just so we got more of shit like that. As well as to iron out some plot stuff so there weren't as many logic holes & inconsistencies, as well as stuff that went unexplained. Apparently the symbiote have this interconnected signal that can reach though out the Multiverse to other symbiotes. So even though, Tom Hardy's Venom never knew a Peter Parker, Topher Grace's Venom has, and it's because of this, it's how Tom Hardy's Venom knew. That's why at the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Venom refers to Tom Holland's Spider-Man as "that guy."

During the electro fight when Gwen shows up and discuss a plan with peter, there's and instance where Gwen actually calls Spider-man Peter and we cut to electro waking up. It's questionable, but that might have implied that electro learned about peters real first name during a brief moment of consciousness thus bringing him into the fray. They MIGHT'VE came through but they didn't make any kind of presence to alert the Spider-Men to their appearance.
    Well yeah they're not trying to be on the level of the Dark Knight or the Daredevil series. They're meant to be fun comic book movies with tons of emotion through the characters.
    Strange is arrogant and overconfident as hell and his ego definitely increased after he was the sole reason the Avengers found the one way at defeating Thanos. It was until Multiverse of Madness were his ego and overconfidence began to fade out.
    Saying "how does a cartoon have smarter writing than live-action" is just insulting to animated films like the Kung Fu Panda trilogy and the HTTYD trilogy. Cartoons can have smart writing but it doesn't mean live-action is worse.
    You could technically count Tony Stark as his first real loss.
    Tom Holland had zero development in Homecoming and Far From Home? Seriously?
    Oh great, you're one of THOSE people who believe in the Iron Boy Jr crap.
    Come on, how did you not like the talk on the scaffolding between the Spider-Men?
    You also are soundly pretty pretentious. Suddenly Otto is affected by the MCU formula because they slipped up once?
    Sandman didn't turn evil. He was just incredibly paranoid. He saw that everything in the apartment was going to shit so he wanted no part in it and left. He then joined the villains at the end because he believed that would've been the quickest way to get the box and be sent home. If he had joined Peter in the end, it would've taken even longer than he wanted because Peter would've "wasted time" trying to cure the other villains.
    BRO, They literally mention in the Venom post credits that the symbiote have a hivemind connection across universes. This also means that Venom would've known that Peter is Spider-Man because of Spider-Man 3.
    Again, you're appearing very pretentious and nitpicky around the MCU projects.
    "He died in MJ's lap, not your arms." WHO CARES?
    Peter and Harry's team-up was 17 years ago in the timeline.
    Tobey getting stabbed meant that there was nobody stopping Tom from continuing to kill the Goblin. It was all his decision from then on and nobody was stopping him because the only people who could are too far away or have been stabbed.
    Bro, you never even talked about the ending! Literally almost everything good about NWH you just brushed over it with a quick line. The talk on the rooftop. The final 15 minutes. Otto's redemption. Literally anything to do with Electro.

    What's wrong with the pop and hip hop in Spider-Verse?

    For the question about where were the other characters who knew peter in the multiverse, strange mentioned that the spell was contained but there were some people who escaped or "slipped" out of the spell, that's why the villains are in holland's universe. As for Tobey and Andrew's spiderman knowing that Holland's spiderman needs their help, its probably their spider senses that made them realize it. Also, about their interactions in the movie, I think it's a good thing because in my point of view, spiderman is a friendly, chill and easy to talk to kind of person. Sure, he can be serious at times but in the end, he is a friendly neighborhood spiderman. Also, I don't know if you noticed, but Sandman did want to go home and go back to his daughter when he asked where the box was.
    There may be some other things that I wanna point out but overall, I enjoyed watching this versus video because it made me see the problems of No Way Home that I did not notice in my first few viewings.

Really, what is wrong with talking about their lives, talking about their kinds of villains, and Really, just having their own fun for a while while they wait? It didn't so much feel like an SNL skit to me but more like average fans wrote their dialogue for them. It just felt basic, and generic and it didn't feel like the characters were talking it felt like people who watched all the Spiderman movies were talking.
      And their bond didn't feel that tight or like they were brothers. I think it was a mistake to introduce them so late. They arrive for the 3rd act and that's really it. The film went quantity over quality and I think that was a big mistake.

    I actually like that Tom Holland learned his With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility lesson in the third movie cause his entire Trilogy was an origin story for him. We see him learn different lessons in each movie, Homecoming he learns to stay close to the ground and that he doesn't need to be an Avenger to prove his worth, Far From Home he learns to be his own hero and leave Iron Man's shadow, then in No Way Home he finally learns about Responsibility and becomes Spider Man.
    Tom Holland's version of Spider Man had his story told in a different but unique way and a lot of people liked it. And there are rumours of him getting a new Trilogy too.

    You know... I've just now realized this, but phase 4 has a habit of throwing phase 3 ideas out the window the second they get the chance. Spiderman is facing legal trouble? Make a Daredevil cameo and cancel the whole thing. Thor leaving Endgame with the Guardians of the Galaxy? Who needs that, split them up within 10 minutes of Love and Thunder. Loki's dead? Bring him back with time travel. I could go on
