  • Filmed, edited, and directed by Alex Koppelman, AICP. Produced by Petra Geiger. The Moakley Park Resilience Plan represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a modern, 21st-century community park that addresses pressing climate change needs while prioritizing social, cultural, economic, and environmental equity. The planning/design team, along with the client, Boston Parks & Recreation, and key stakeholders explore the process, goals, constraints, and opportunities that inform the transformation of this 60-acre waterfront park. By protecting vulnerable communities from flood risk, compelling new opportunities have emerged to embed solutions for other known risks: extreme heat, obesity, safety, education, environmental, and social injustice.
    Learning Objectives:
    1. Learn how to prioritize inclusion, diversity and equity in the resilience plan.
    2. Understand how to manage ever-evolving engineering constraints, diverse community input, and competing stakeholder interests.
    3. Explore a design approach example.
