what if mr jefferson was trying to get revenge?? crazy theory but imagine. he escapes prison to finish the job with max, but ends up accidentally killing safi.
What if it was someone who somehow found out abt Max's powers and blames her for causing the storm in Arcadia Bay(maybe someone close to them died because of it??)
Holy shit haven’t watched you in years!! (Since my last Life is Strange obsession phase) Glad you’re still as excited about Max being back as the rest of us!
Seeing this video in my feed was almost like a feeling of closure. So glad you're back man, and if you don't mind, stick around and don't be so quick to leave again please 😂
Life is Strange holds a special place in my heart, as does its prequel, Before the Storm. Playing the original Life is Strange felt like enjoying a perfect steak cooked by a master chef at a unique restaurant. When that chef left to pursue something new with Life is Strange 2, the remaining staff (Square Enix) and a different studio (Deck Nine) tried to replicate the success by turning the restaurant into a chain. While Before the Storm, the first chain product, was still very close to the original and captured much of its authenticity, the subsequent entries in the series, though maintaining good quality and some of the original charm, never quite reach the same heights or capture the same magic as that first, unforgettable steak.
Therefore, Max just feels like they're saying, 'Look, we're bringing back the original spice that we used to use for the steak in our very first restaurant.' But it's just an excuse to lure in fans, I feel like. Because the power is completely different, they just destroy the already established and much better system of entering a different world, which was through the photos, and make it just like Marvel's style, where she just opens a new reality mid-air or something, by T-posing.
The Think is,the first game wasn't just special because of its story; it was the vibe and the nostalgic feelings it evoked. Subsequent entries try to replicate the story, but they miss what truly made the original special. Scenes where you could just sit down in Chloe's backyard, listen to music, and talk about random things like Tomb Raider or homework created a feeling of relatability and nostalgia. It felt like being with that one friend, going to their house after school, meeting their parents-these little moments were what made the game special. The new games focus too much on the story and odd elements like Typhon, the mining firm. The towns in the newer games often feel artificial, looking more like stylized theme parks or tourist towns rather than real, lived-in places. While Nathan and the Prescotts were the antagonistic force in Life is Strange 1, similar to Typhon in concept, it just doesn’t capture the same feeling. Life is Strange 1 had a crafted feel but was much more authentic. The new entries make you feel like you're walking through a set rather than a real world, losing the genuine, relatable charm of the original.
@@lucalbrecht1477 Took the words right out of my mouth, I made a post on reddit when the trailer for DE came out and I called it more of a TC sequel than a Lis1 sequel as both TC and DE have this Disney town feel where the townsfolk are actors playing a role for the player.
If there’s two versions of everybody else, who’s to say there isn’t two maxes, and the other max is the killer. The whole time you’re looking for somebody you would never suspect it’s yourself. We’ve already seen multiple versions of max once before. It’s not that far fetched.
Good to see you back! I severely recommend reading the entirety of the comics. If Double Exposure was never a thing, i would have been content based on the comics alone. They truly stand up to the quality of the games in my opinion. I really loved True Colors as well. I kept hoping they were telling all of these independent stories to eventually entwine them, even Incorporating Captain Spirit into a bigger narrative about the nature of those that assume a power in this universe to use for ill will.
William! Lovely to watch a video of yours again, I hope you're keeping well. I have quite a few worries about the direction in which LiS games have been heading. But as a friend told me, "I'm just happy to get the chance to live in that world with those characters again." It's interesting that the owl represented Jefferson in LiS 1, and would appear whenever Jefferson or his evil doings were nearby. The owl being so prominent in the trailer (and around at the time of the murder) is interesting as it paints a darker picture of the game. I'm not sure my soul can take a darker story :( I'm limiting how much promo content I'll watch because they spoiled so much from True Colors imo. I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts on TC, should you get around to playing it! Finally, a couple of narrative game recommendations for you. I really enjoyed Dontnod's "Gerda: A Flame in Winter". There's also a game I discovered a little while ago called "Lost Words: Beyond the Page", which has a heartfelt style and story. Best wishes!!
Okay, so What i think about the line showed at 10:10, is that no matter if you have played or not, they will show you the easter eggs of chloe before when she was alive, and it would be in this way that they will not confirm that shes alive or that shes dead, they just have to play their cards right with this one, since using this way will also ensure they are not makin a choice for the playerbase
Awesome video and nice to see you back! The news also hit me out of nowhere, and I'm realy excited to see what it brings... But also scared, the bar is set immensely high for this game as it has to be as good as the first one to deliver, making the story watertight seems impossible... Especially for a game held so dearly by many. Looking at the last games by big publishers doesn't give me much faith (the remasters were rather rushed for example). But I hope DeckNine will deliver and not make a flop like so many other anticipated games.
Great video and always love your take on things and also its great to have another video from you. I can't wait to hear what they have planned and will be tuning in to see where they will take things. Just thinking of how they might approch the first game in the new one they might give you a choice at the beginning to see if you A played the first game and B what choice you made and then make diffrent voice lines for Max and any other character from the first game that might appear. What do you think?
I loved the first Life is Strange, and Before the Storm (including Farewell) was also pretty good. The Captain Spirit DLC, and the character of Lyla, were a promising start for Life is Strange 2, but the rest of the game felt lacking. I also have more or less ignored True Colors and the comics up until now. So, I really hope that Double Exposure will have a heartfelt story that fits into the world. I could really need a grown-up Max right now.
You are 100% correct about your thoughts of remastered. they even remove the beautiful credits from each episode with the Beautiful credit music they make characters look more generic and they add in a streamer mode which just makes all the Cinematic scenes go silent which basically makes all new let's plays of this game unwatchable.
This is an interesting video, but I would maybe recommend watching the full reveal livestream. A lot of the speculations in this video are directly answered there.
Crazy theory: What if Max killed Safi because, similarly to LiS 1, she realizes Safi has to die to prevent other bad things from happening. And the reason the crime seems so unexplainable is because Max used her portal powers to do it. And the final choice is whether or not to kill Safi
In case you missed it, there was a curious IGN report on Deck Nine's work culture recently. On Double Exposure, I was hoping for a more interesting direction for the series from Square Enix.
I think it's best to call my feelings on this one a bit mixed. The premise and the story do sound interesting, and I would expect it to be a more engaging mechanic than that of True Colours (which I did overall enjoy regardless), however the use of Max concerns and excites me in equal measure. A great deal of what made the first game so memorable was the emotional power of their friendship/romance and (as it looks at least) to have that history brushed off with a couple of dialogue lines would very much suck, and if that is what happens I would imagine that is way more likely to cheese off the fandom (even if you weren't a shipper) than canonising one of the endings. A point made in another video I watched on the subject, which I broadly agree with is that Dontnod always stated they wanted the story of Max and Chloe to be complete with the first game so that fans can enjoy their own head canon and that D9G and Square Enix are breaking that rule to cash in on her popularity when its possible you could tell the same story with a different character. Overall it's still a title I'm excited to see and play, but I do have deep concerns over how it's going to treat the legacy it is trying to add to.
I've already paid for the Ultimate Edition and I can honestly say, I don't care how the timelines work, I don't care if they make one choice "canon" (in fact it would make replaying the series a bit easier for me), I do hope they merge both timelines by the end of this game, but above all I just hope Chloe is in this game. I don't care whether it's Ashley or Rhianna, but if Chloe the character is not in this game, I will be refunding it. lol. I sound petty as hell, but it's just not good enough. If they wanted to do a direct follow-up to the original then use different characters, not Max on her own. I knew any kind of Max story would require the utmost care and probably DontNod rather than Decknine if I'm being honest, but I am cautiously optimistic.
There was a Reddit post which There's Max age in Japanese website she's 28 yrs old so that's like 10 years past. Sad thing for me is im exciting and concerning in the same time cuz im huge fans of Chloe but now that it's totally new developer idk where DeckNine will take us to. Story is waaaay bigger than Lis1
What a timeline. Hannah is back, William is back. What happened to Dontnod? Didn't they were adamant to not continuing Max's story? Either someone kidnapped one of their wifes or something like a patent expired. Thanks Deck Nine, I know Max is in good hands! Can't wait!
Well, clearly [and I say this with sarcasm but also hopefulness that my theories from early 2019 will prove right] the asteroid in the sky is a sign that Captain Spirit and Life is Strange 2 were truly foreshadowing a disaster where an Asteroid is headed toward impact with Earth's mantle & only through Daniel's power can we stop it. Perhaps Max caused the disaster by messing with timelines once more, like how she may have caused the Storm in LiS1. However, it's funny that you draw a comparison to Your Name, since there is a popular LiS1/LiS2 fanfic by Riona on AO3 called Double Exposure which is also inspired by Your Name. I had been planning (with permission of Riona) to write a follow-up fic to that one because I had some interesting ideas for how it could be continued.

Handling the IP is one level of difficulty, but doing that in a misogynistic, grindy, work place with branding and profits being driven by Nazi edge-lords is kinda where we’re at now. At least, that’s the news coming from people laid-off or forced to leave. Yay?
You should continue and we missed you so much. Please don't take a break again. I have concerns and I have hopes for this game. I'm still so excited. Deck Nine can make it rigth life LIS: BTS and LIS: TC. They did good job. I just want this game so beautiful like The original. I think and this is my opinion. If they choose one canon ending from the first game that won't good for Deck Nine because lots of the fan not going to like this. This is a huge risk. Even I don't know ıf like it or not. But I can accept when 2 endings are both canons in LIS: DE. You mentioned that. Think of this; In the one timeline Chloe is alive and in the other Chloe is dead. This can be more intresting for all of us. The other concern of mine is; it seem like Chloe won't the main subject. even if she has a cameo. Most of the fan like me want to see Max and Chloe togather. The other thing is if Chloe is alive then why they are separate? Wan't Chloe so impoertent for Max? Un fortunatley I won't know these questions until the game out. I don't think Deck Nine let us know in their stream. Like I said I'm so excited and I have hopes. but I'm cautious And you should play Life Is Strange True Colors. Its a really good game better than Before The Storm
I think the moons are coloured not only to represent the alternate timelines but the Red represent Safi (she wears red throughout the trailer and has a red necklace on) and the Blue Moon represents Chloe. Her two friends that were murdered and she had to use her powers to save them.
The graphics look great. Not sure what trailer you watched, but i watched the trailer in 4k and it looks great. The footage won’t be final either, game trailers usually just take a mix of footage they already have recorded from different game builds
its not the same mann idk if its a good idea to milk the series it ended really good and the new aesthetic and graphics just dont work with the first one and before the storm. I will not count this game as canon bcs i have a feeling that it will be a big disappointment. Idk why people hype it that much. The first one and before the storm ended perfectly and the best way for me to put max and chloe in the story is by adding them as secondary characters. Like in lis2 with david.
Ngl, I got more excited for this comeback than the game itself.
And honestly, I'm more concerned about the fact that it's max because there won't be a chloe
Crazy Theory: What if Safi wasn’t the intended target? She was killed by accident and Max was the intended target for murder!?
That's a super interesting theory!! Didn't think about that.
what if mr jefferson was trying to get revenge?? crazy theory but imagine. he escapes prison to finish the job with max, but ends up accidentally killing safi.
What if it was someone who somehow found out abt Max's powers and blames her for causing the storm in Arcadia Bay(maybe someone close to them died because of it??)
Now THAT would make for a sad ending

I will not count this game as canon bcs i have a feeling that it will be a big disappointment. Idk why people hype it that much. The first one and before the storm ended perfectly and the best way for me to put max and chloe in the story is by adding them as secondary characters. Like in lis2 with david.
