im not sure if this is linked to double exposure or not, but in the original life is strange there is an owl in the barn where the dark room is… i wonder if the owl is linked to any trauma from the first game. you can also take a photo of it in the first game.

It reminds me very much of myself, because I was also the shy kid in school, but a confident adult years later. :) However, I do wonder how much of her happy exposure is just an act … I love your theory about the owl, the moon and the Atlas statue :) We obviously don’t know if the owl will be a guiding spirit or not, but I really love the idea! Seeing the four important characters (Max, Safi, Moses and Amanda) makes me wonder what the role of the other characters will be, particularly Gwen and Lucas. So far, they all seem like very nice characters and I’m excited to meet them :) Your theory about Max shifting without realizing it makes a lot of sense, and raises the question which Safi actually died. But it also makes me wonder if someone else could’ve shifted the timelines and Max shifted with them by accident? At least I think that’s a possibility … Excited for the Chloe video! :D

I have a feeling that it'll play a major role in this new game! Max's relationships are a priority, so the other characters that we've seen are likely to assist us on our mission in some way. Love your Owl & Atlas comments. You've earned a sub. Have you compared the brief clips during the Hannah Telle interview that appear to show some really rough or dangerous environment outside? I think in that scene the asteroid has already hit the planet, and it's caused dust to block out the sunlight. That, along with Max's comment to Moses that she would love to photograph an empty planet because she already photographs a lot of empty places, really really reminds me of the Captain Spirit quote "The planet is so dark... and the sky is so red... like blood! No wonder Mantroid lives here... But how could anyone live here? It's kind of sad and lonely..." I think that to some extent this Double Exposure game has been planned for a really long time. I had an Asteroid Theory back when LiS2 was still being released and everyone called me crazy (let's be honest, they still do), but the presence of the asteroid in the Double Exposure gameplay we saw and even in the background of the cover art for the game really makes me feel vindicated in my theory. But I guess I won't know for sure until the game releases, and there are still details to iron out of course.

At first I thought it was odd that Max was adopting the owl (going by her lapel pin) given its association with Jefferson in LiS1, but it makes me think the owl might be somehow related to power/responsibility. Jefferson’s abuse of his, and Max’s belief (or fear) that hers (and her past) will only bring death and destruction to everyone. Power/responsibility being used for good vs. being used for evil, which Max is concerned with in LiS1 frequently, telling Chloe it’s not to be taken lightly, etc. The owl sitting on top of the globe-being just one more weight to add to that silently shouldered burden--seems apt imagery in that light, anyway. Also very curious about the Sandberg quote about the moon and loneliness, since it seems like the double moons from LiS1 might be relevant again to whatever’s going on with the reality shifting. Moses studying space, references to gemini(?), and the moon being the trigger for Max’s powers again definitely seems to me like they might be setting up imagery for something in that ballpark.

To me it looks like the Story could be okay as its own, but bringing back Max in this way seems just a cash grab. It feels like any other new character could have filled the same role. And now thinking about it, it might have been pretty awesome if the main character would have been Max's student. This would have left a lot of leeway for the inclusion of both LiS1 endings on the side. So, while you've put so much care in crafting and observing the part of the game we saw, I feel, the developers did not. A comment I read on youtube pointed out that for that introductory game-play, the developers just copied the beats of the beginning of LiS1: Max leaves the first scene, she puts on her earbuds and takes a walk introducing the school, stops to take a picture of a the official spirit animal of the game, and then her friend gets shot. But in Double Exposure the first scene doesn't introduce striking characters and putting on the earbuds is "just because", the path she walks is deserted and the death is really not surprising. True Colors faced a similar critique, as if they thought that superficially mimicking the same structure of LiS1 (Death, Murderer Twist, Dream Sequence) is what makes LiS1 poignant. Or maybe it's just me being too simplistic... Anyway I subscribed, I love hearing interesting thoughts and deep analyses :)
I think the devs not picking a proper canon ending to LiS1 is going to come back around and bite them because we don't know if any fan favorites will be able to return. And never mind the elephant that is Chloe. If Chloe is alive then that means Kate, Victoria and even Nathan and Joyce are dead. And if Chloe is dead...shippers won't be happy.
If Chloe is alive (Bae ending), the only person confirmed dead by LiS2 is Joyce. Well, Nathan too coz he got killed by Jefferson. While Victoria and David are confirmed alive because they were in the Bunker.

Well done with this video analysis and theories of Double Exposure. Really excited for this next chapter of the LIS franchise and a new adventure with Max to release this year. Also to add to the Owl theory; I looked into what the Owl symbolizes a month ago. So apparently in many cultures, the owl is seen as a bad omen. For the Native Americans, they say the owl as the embodiment of the dead. A spirit of death. Which is quite fitting since Max keeps taking photos of animals which leads to her best friends’ death. That and I do believe that maybe her own passion for photography is what triggering her powers leading to those closest to her to tragically day.
The owl has to have something to do with Jefferson. Almost every time Max was in danger from Jefferson the owl was right there. The Junkyard, the Bunker etc etc...
Hear me out. Objectively, time-travel as depicted in lis1 is a conventionality of what matter actually travels, meaning something around Max's body such as air also teleports with her or rewinded with her in her vicinity (in inventory). What brings us to the storm, what if this was just a natural consequence of matter moving back and forth that lead to the storm. Now then, note those specific rifts between the worlds in lis4, I believe this will be all about preventing the new "storm" all over again but it will be not just a storm but two worlds colliding entirely since those rifts are appearing all over, and potentially with ability for normal people (not Max) to interact between realities on those spots if they grow bigger, so, could be that there is a way to save the world, and tadaaam it could be in form of Safi's sacrifice, or could be entirely opposite - just simply a quest onto traveling back in time and preventing specific interactions and actions that lead to the start of the world's collision (preventing Safi's incident by time travel, but then an icy storm may happen - save the world with university in storm or something else). BTW what if Max time travels when in the alternate reality? Imagine if the second world is where Chloe is saved, she finds a photo on the Internet, travels, asks Chloe for help, travels back, other Max knows either nothing or bits of info Chloe gave to her, from time to time our Max travels between the worlds and they try to help our Max...
Lovely video. I knew the Owl represented Wisdom but I did not know about the Moon. It totally makes sense too. One of the most ignored things I noticed about LIS is the lack of explanation of double moons. Is is possible Max's power was causing this from the beginning even in LIS1 or Maybe related to her Jumping back in time to a previous w reality for Chloe slowly manifesting her jump power? There is a storm when she is with Amanda. Amanda looks SOOOO worried, and Max is all chill & confident 🥺. Talking about the 🦉! In LiS the owl appears when Max is on the abandoned place (super close where the enemie's basement is). So, I bet the owl guides Max where the enemy could be
