I agree, frequently revisit the part of the documentary where she is singing. At only 13 she sounded like a grown ass woman and her voice was so full and silky smooth. You get glimpses of her singing, mostly in choruses and small parts of a verse, but I want her to have a couple verses in an R&B song. They are all amazing, been following for close to 2 years now and I am still blown away at how insanely talented they all are, not to mention the stellar production staff, lead by Simon (best CEO you could ask for).

For Woke Up, Cocona did in fact shave her head on camera. They released a behind the scenes vid where they showed she practiced doing it while rapping with her claws on, then she shaved off some bits on camera, and afterwards she/her hairstylist finished it up. She'd had her head shaved as a kid and Simon gave her the green light to do it again in this video. Iconic! As for Hinata looking creepy in the hook, in the BTS she specifically said that's what she was going for, so she definitely nailed it. 😂😈 Honestly it may be my favorite look from her, and considering how hard their stylists go that's saying a lot.

I also appreciate how you notice the vocals, most people get bowled over with the rap line in XG (understandable!) but they are so vocally amazing too. Juria is my bias, I don't know how her voice can be gentle but strong all at the same time but it is, so soothing. Chisa is our power vocal queen and Hinata's tone is pretty and nice for the ears. Then there's our ace Maya who has both rap and vocal pipes lol. Can't wait to see more!!
Cocona actually shaved it IN the video. Their CEO Simon is sitting off camera shitting bullets lol. He's both proud and worried but and Maya immediately comes running up to Cocona and is thrilled. Cocona admitted to shaking with nerves both while she did it and after but she had wanted to do this since apparently their trainee days so this song finally gave everyone the opportunity to pull the trigger. But yeah even Simon looked like a dad that was just thinking... "What is she doing? What am I letting her do? This is so scary!" And then he just shouts out "Cocona FIGHTING!" it's a delight to watch the entire crew was talking about how bad ass Cocona was there.
ALPHAZ on DECK! 🐺🐺 Harvey's mardi gras scene looks like a refernce to the OG 1997 Final Fantasy VII scene of the Sorceress Eden when she's in the parade in Deling City. That's the first thing that came to the mind soon as the scene came up...float, outfit, and all. It's before your time and I'm kind of dating myself....LOL. HESONOO is pronounced as (Heh-Son-No-Oh)...meaning umbilical cord. This is the word the girls use to hype and get themselves ready before all their performances. Fun Fact: The ending pose of X-GENE have the girls lined up (from right to left) in age order (oldest to youngest) starting with Chisa, then Hinata, Jurin, Harvey, Juria, Maya, and Cocona.

I’m new to XG aswell so this was my first time listening to a few of these songs too and there even better than I thought tbh, even tho there not kpop there definitely the best group out in the same format since they do promote in Korea, I think as a group in general there just amazing and even rival a lot of the western industry

yesss woke up is my fave song for them next to grl gvng and their cyphers i dont like many girl groups cause a lot especially in kpop/jpop are very cutesy and i dont like that kind often if once in a while sure but not every song. these are my top girl groups (globally) Mamamoo XG Le Sserafim Little Mix (with and without jessi the old and newer songs are all great ignoring the drama) Flo all of these groups are so great in their own ways i wish little mix and mamamoo got more exposure and recognition before their hiatus's im not sure if mamamoo will make group music again but i think little mix would be very unlikely but always possible. but both of their discography's are worth listening to if you havent before. XG is going places like i think theyll rival the top gg in korea rn while getting more of a foothold globally woke up showed theyre a problem for these girl groups lol le sserafim is just so sweet idk theyre just great vibes i think they have a lot of potential to get bigger but im not sure what they want yet both xg and le sserafim are still pretty new like 2 years old. Flo debut in 2019 mamamoo debut in 2014 and little mix in 2011 Flo deserves to be way bigger than they are. their collab with missy elliot is so good. i hope they keep getting bigger especially in the states.

I'm sure you will get to it, but these ladies trained and competed for five years under the direction of Simon (2017 - 2022) when they debuted with Tippy Toes in March. AMAZING STORY. Simon (JAKOPS), was in a KPOP group called Dalmations or DMTN. They had a dew great songs like E.R. Simon had frosted hair in that video. He was the one walking in at the beginning of Woke Up. I love and respect Jurin, Maya, Chisa, Hinata, Harvey, Juria and last but not least Cocona. They post their everyday life and they are so humble, fun and human!!!

Hey Tov1n ... I just read your community post and wanted to add a brief comment. I hope posting my perspectives here is ok and doesn't violate your guidelines. Like many, my introduction to K-pop was through BTS around 2014/2015, about 1 year or so after they debuted. BTS is still the gold standard in my book for their mix of lyrics construction, musical range, stage showmanship, vocal & rap skills, music with a social message that all combined into a sound and dance presentation that made an R&B OG fan like me take notice. While still being loyal Army, I subsequently discovered Exo and soon realized there was a real place for me in K-pop fandom. Like with BTS, I found Exo's sound and showmanship to really be outstanding! From that point I was hooked on select 3rd gen groups like BTS, Exo, GOT7 and NCT and their music was/ is on regular rotation in my playlist. But for whatever reason I never really became a fan of the reigning 3rd gen girl groups. (No shade, just being honest). I began with the above as context to explain I think 4th gen K-pop/ X-pop/global music group category) can in many ways be defined by the ascendance of really talented female groups like XG. (Again, I know XG isn't Kpop and instead is X-pop/ global music.) I've been an Alphaz almost from Day 1 (my daughter introduced me to them right after Tippy Toes was released in 2022). XG is far and away my #1 bias girl group! But I also like New Jeans, Le Sserafim (live performance drama aside) and I'm keeping my eyes on 5th gen groups like Illit (I know the whole Hybe/ ADOR drama), Natty of Kiss of Life (what a dancer!), & Young Posse. It just feels like the today's ladies K-pop/ X-pop/ global music groups are really strong and the K-pop/ X-pop/ global band scene is in a really exciting period. I think XG, is defining themselves in ways that mirror BTS,... vocal talent, rap deliver, dance, stage presence, message music and overall live performance skill that reflects they have and continue to "put in the work"! Just as importantly, I really respect that despite their rapidly building success, they have remained humble and thankful to their fans, collaborators and management which makes it easy to go from liking and rooting for them to loving them individually and as a group! I also appreciate how they are pushing traditional boundaries on what K-pop, (X-pop/ global music) especially from female group can look and sound like in ways that are truly exciting! They are pioneers and innovators in the best way and I join my fellow Alphaz in looking forward to the long and successful ride with XG! Like Alphaz globally, I'm always happy when someone new, as you did @Tov1n, discovers XG and can immediately see and respect their talent. * Girls crying - they surprise each of them with a video message from their family who they really have not seen for 5+ years during their training.

Love your reaction. I am spinning Winter Without You even in Summer too so I get it. You're going to love that First Take version, it might even be better than the recorded to be honest! I also appreciate how you notice the vocals, most people get bowled over with the rap line in XG (understandable!) but they are so vocally amazing too. Juria is my bias, I don't know how her voice can be gentle but strong all at the same time but it is, so soothing. Chisa is our power vocal queen and Hinata's tone is pretty and nice for the ears. Then there's our ace Maya who has both rap and vocal pipes lol. Can't wait to see more!!
Cocona actually shaved it IN the video. Their CEO Simon is sitting off camera shitting bullets lol. He's both proud and worried but and Maya immediately comes running up to Cocona and is thrilled. Cocona admitted to shaking with nerves both while she did it and after but she had wanted to do this since apparently their trainee days so this song finally gave everyone the opportunity to pull the trigger. But yeah even Simon looked like a dad that was just thinking... "What is she doing? What am I letting her do? This is so scary!" And then he just shouts out "Cocona FIGHTING!" it's a delight to watch the entire crew was talking about how bad ass Cocona was there.

That's the first thing that came to the mind soon as the scene came up...float, outfit, and all. It's before your time and I'm kind of dating myself....LOL.
HESONOO is pronounced as (Heh-Son-No-Oh)...meaning umbilical cord. This is the word the girls use to hype and get themselves ready before all their performances.
Fun Fact: The ending pose of X-GENE have the girls lined up (from right to left) in age order (oldest to youngest) starting with Chisa, then Hinata, Jurin, Harvey, Juria, Maya, and Cocona.

I’m new to XG aswell so this was my first time listening to a few of these songs too and there even better than I thought tbh, even tho there not kpop there definitely the best group out in the same format since they do promote in Korea, I think as a group in general there just amazing and even rival a lot of the western industry

Yes 🙌🏽 XG is an ELITE Xpop Group. I love WWY and it reminds me of where I use to live with the snow ❄️ in the Winter. I now live in a Sunny ☀️ City but this song when it was released I loved it so much. If you notice the tree in the center is Sakura 🌸✨the Cherry Blossoms the Japanese Tradition so the Xtraordinary Girls were of course are in S. Xgene was the intro to their mini album last year so it was short. Love the artistic music video for it. There is also videos of them performing it in Japan last year and China last month.

XG is going places like i think theyll rival the top gg in korea rn while getting more of a foothold globally woke up showed theyre a problem for these girl groups lol
le sserafim is just so sweet idk theyre just great vibes i think they have a lot of potential to get bigger but im not sure what they want yet both xg and le sserafim are still pretty new like 2 years old.

New sub here. I appreciate your appreciation to the young, strong, talented ladies of XG. THEY ARE TRULY XTRAORDINARY. I'm sure you will get to it, but these ladies trained and competed for five years under the direction of Simon (2017 - 2022) when they debuted with Tippy Toes in March. AMAZING STORY. Simon (JAKOPS), was in a KPOP group called Dalmations or DMTN. They had a dew great songs like E.R. Simon had frosted hair in that video. He was the one walking in at the beginning of Woke Up. I love and respect Jurin, Maya, Chisa, Hinata, Harvey, Juria and last but not least Cocona. They post their everyday life and they are so humble, fun and human!!!
For vocals... Winter without you first take version - is by far their best vocal output out of all their songs (low-key sounds better then the MV, especially Mayas part).

Winter Without You was the first XG song I heard (the First Take live version). Became a fan instantly...and that was earlier this year. After that, had to watch every video and tv show they did as well as the documentary. These ladies had to endure a lot to get where they are. Blood, sweat and tears.....actually, not metaphorical!! Hey Tov1n ... I just read your community post and wanted to add a brief comment. I hope posting my perspectives here is ok and doesn't violate your guidelines.
Like many, my introduction to K-pop was through BTS around 2014/2015, about 1 year or so after they debuted. BTS is still the gold standard in my book for their mix of lyrics construction, musical range, stage showmanship, vocal & rap skills, music with a social message that all combined into a sound and dance presentation that made an R&B OG fan like me take notice. While still being loyal Army, I subsequently discovered Exo and soon realized there was a real place for me in K-pop fandom. Like with BTS, I found Exo's sound and showmanship to really be outstanding! From that point I was hooked on select 3rd gen groups like BTS, Exo, GOT7 and NCT and their music was/ is on regular rotation in my playlist.
But for whatever reason I never really became a fan of the reigning 3rd gen girl groups. (No shade, just being honest).
I began with the above as context to explain I think 4th gen K-pop/ X-pop/global music group category) can in many ways be defined by the ascendance of really talented female groups like XG. (Again, I know XG isn't Kpop and instead is X-pop/ global music.) I've been an Alphaz almost from Day 1 (my daughter introduced me to them right after Tippy Toes was released in 2022). XG is far and away my #1 bias girl group! But I also like New Jeans, Le Sserafim (live performance drama aside) and I'm keeping my eyes on 5th gen groups like Illit (I know the whole Hybe/ ADOR drama), Natty of Kiss of Life (what a dancer!), & Young Posse.
It just feels like the today's ladies K-pop/ X-pop/ global music groups are really strong and the K-pop/ X-pop/ global band scene is in a really exciting period. I think XG, is defining themselves in ways that mirror BTS,... vocal talent, rap deliver, dance, stage presence, message music and overall live performance skill that reflects they have and continue to "put in the work"! Just as importantly, I really respect that despite their rapidly building success, they have remained humble and thankful to their fans, collaborators and management which makes it easy to go from liking and rooting for them to loving them individually and as a group! I also appreciate how they are pushing traditional boundaries on what K-pop, (X-pop/ global music) especially from female group can look and sound like in ways that are truly exciting! They are pioneers and innovators in the best way and I join my fellow Alphaz in looking forward to the long and successful ride with XG!
Like Alphaz globally, I'm always happy when someone new, as you did @Tov1n, discovers XG and can immediately see and respect their talent. I'd say you are quickly becoming an Alphaz as you are impressively understanding the multi-layer approach XG delivers in their music from a lyrical and over all presentation perspective. LOL .. no surprise regarding your reaction... I was pretty sure you would enjoy "Winter Without You!" The First Take vids underscore they don't sound great because they have an awesome sound engineer who layers in multiple takes to create a finished product they could never replicate.. naw not XG ...these ladies have skilz and are all legit singers and rappers! The thing that is really impressive is that when you check out their dance practice videos, you'll also be able to fully appreciate their dance skills. They go hard!! You've seen a little of Jurin and Cocona going off but you will be amazed by the sophistication of their choreo... trust you'll definitely enjoy the dance practice for Grl Gving!
FYI they will be on an 8 city US tour in October. Most of the shows sold out within an hour or two of tickets going on sale... lots of vids on the Tube of their live show which is really good.
