Greetings Tiff, thank you for another informative video. I have been on several cruises, mostly RCL, and I have purchased a the Voom for one device. On occasion I have had to use my laptop and I would just switch between the laptop and the iPhone. These days, if I am not using my laptop, I just would like to be able to text and check my email and sometimes current events. In September I am doing some B2Bs on Carnival and I am torn between purchasing the social package for each cruise or just purchase it on some of the sea days. Will be on the ship for 20 days in September. For the sake of simplicity, I will probably just bite the bullet and purchase the social package. If that does not cover what I need, I am sure, for a nominal charge, they will let me upgrade to the next level of service. Writing you helped walk me through this thought process!!! Woo Hoo! Thanks again! 😎😎😎

I am glad that helped you work through the process. Yes, you can always upgrade while on your cruise. They are never going to tell you they don't want more money from you. LOL. I probably would only purchase the social package if that is all you are wanting to do. Yep, I will switch back and forth between my laptop and phone with one device plan.

Thanks for breakdown! I've never bought as its creamy prices. My last cruise it would have been $335! That's almost 8 months of internet at my house!! For 1 device! Just nuts! I just disconnect! Although we were on a cruise in March 2020 and that proved to be a bad decision!!!! We had NO IDEA what was going down in U.S. when we got off!!! We were one of the last ships back in US!

@@tduck828 LOL I got what you meant. Oh my goodness. I can only imagine what you thought getting off the ship in 2020 after being disconnected from the world. Yea, it is super crazy expensive, which is why I try and find ways to cut corners at all possible.

you didn’t mention. how carnival is so different- they block wifi calls and text

Yes, I have noticed this. While I didn't make calls I was able to text on the wi-fi plan from iPhone to iPhone as imessage appears to work on the wi-fi plan. If wanting to do a lot of texting and/or calling on a Carnival ship it is best to check with your cell provider on a cruise plan.

Are the costs per day or per cruise?

The Wi-fi packages can be purchased for the entire cruise sailing or you can purchase it by the day. The prices I showed for Carnvial were by the day. The prices I showed for Royal were by the sailing, but I believe I mentioned if I purchased it by the day, it would be $23 with the discount they offered me. Let me know if I didn't answer your question.

I went on RC last year. You can buy for a 24 HR period. You can only buy once you board. I'm not elite or anything and it was $29.99 per 24 hour period.

I’m confused…..using Princess wifi at sea on packages, I’ve sent & received messages without charge. 😀

Oh that’s good to know with Princess. Yea, I have experienced a few times on Carnival I could send and receive texts iPhone to iPhone without paying extra or paying for the WiFi. But, it doesn’t it happen all the time which is why I didn’t mention it in this video. But, thanks for letting me know about Princess.

    How about princess?

I didn't mention Princess since I wanted to give my experience and have not cruised with them yet. I am looking into cruising with them soon and their wifi package looks to be around $10 - $25 a day if you purchase by the day. They also offer plans such as the Princess Plus and Princess Premier where you can get the wifi package included in your cruise along with gratuities and drink package.
