It's a real shame that Venezuela's only chance for a peaceful and democratic change had to be curbed stomped by greed for power by an unpopular asshole who so many people still defend for some reason.

if you wait long enough, they will come and defend him in these very comments. But yes, Venezuela is just one disappointment after another lately.
because you are lying, the fact that the only other "option" is an american asset doesnt really work either for venezuelans. They will do better chosing the nationalists opressor over the very obvious CIA puppet.
Ed Mundo and that lady were USA puppets listen I don't like Maduro either he's a dictator but Venezuelans had no hope at all you either get a dictator or a puppet of the gringos not only that but Mundo has been seen with the PAN party members in Spain ruining his credibility and chances of ever winning any election cause the PRIAN are extremely hated in Mexico and they are known to be affiliate with the cartels some of them have been executed by set cartels cause they are losing all their power so I'm glad Maduro won sucks yes extremely but the hope would come and hopefully a better more socialist candidate a Lopez Obrador maybe
I started watching your videos this year as I took a course in Latin-American history and I have been very impressed thus far👍 Thank you for those and great yearly overview
Hello, very nice video, I just would have preferred you mentioned something of all the rest of the countries, for example, Costa Rica achieving the global tilde for smallest inflation in the globe, record employment, and the highest salaries, and more. Meaning, not focusing only on the bad stuff. But great video!!

that's a fair point. I tried very hard to include more positive stories. The main reason that I did not include stories like that of Costa Rica is these were not date specific events. I'll consider those for next year.
If I remember correctly, there were a very large amount of the Puerto Rican population who refused to vote out of protest and most Boricuans didn’t vote. So I don’t think Puerto Ricans want statehood outside of the metropolitan area.

The turnout was 57%. The one you're thinking of was in 2017 when the referendum was boycotted and only around 23% voted. Recent developments seem to have moved people that previously wanted the status quo to continue to move towards statehood.
How do people live in such violence?! Arent people tired of it?

I've wondered this many times. It's not that people are not tired of it. It's that there's very little they can do because most of the violence is systematic.
Chile basically forgotten about, like always, even though we also won a medal, thanks.

Sorry. I didn't mention Ecuador or Argentina, who also won gold medals and more than Chile. And I didn't mention Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Puerto Rico and Peru who won medals as well. The only reason I mentioned Guatemala and the DR is because of their historical nature.

The only ones defending them are idiots who are abroad, Venezuelans
I spent sometime traveling through South America this year. Your channel helped me to understand what I saw a bit more. Thanks for that
Awesome. I'm glad that it was useful!
An excellent rundown of the region! I look forward to your future work.

Feliz por piedad que no descanse en paz
Latin America is good for 3 things:
1. Food
2. Beach
3. Beautiful women
this info was very biased. there are way more good interesting things that are happening in the region, and you decided not to mention them at all.
Such as?
