Wow! Just wow... To Momma Poppen... what a masterpiece. You are a true artist. I can definitely see where your daughter gets her talent. You make it seem effortless and yet I know there are few people who could create something like that in any scale, let alone for a doll this size. Again... wow!

As someone who used to make historical bustle gowns from this era, it’s really cool to see it all done miniature sized! You and your mom always make such beautiful dolls together, and this dress really shows off your mom’s amazing skills! And your work on that tiny intricate hairstyle: wow!
I was super worried when you said she was going to make a hoop skirt. I was like, Nooo, that dress is a bustle dress, not a hooped dress, but then you mom made an amazing little bustle petticoat. They also used "lobster tails" in that era, that were like a separate set of hoops that tied around the waist.
They could have used a lot of tricks to mimic the style of clothing in GWTW, but David Selznick insisted that they have all the correct underpinnings, corsets, petticoats, shifts, etc. that were appropriate to the time. It was a huge undertaking and the costuming department did really amazing job. If costuming had been a category in 1940, it surely would have won the Oscar for it.

This was one of my mom’s most favorite movies, and I’ve been missing her sooo much lately. This popped up on my main page today, and I just love it! I know my mom would too if she were here.
I ❤ it! It wasn't the dress I imagined you'd pick, but I ❤what you & your amazing mother have created. It's so cool that you all get to share a similar passion & work together. I'm definitely envious as my mother passed 17yrs ago. I never enjoyed the same hobbies she did while she was alive. She loved to draw & I hated art. I only decided to learn to draw after she passed because I was too sick to leave home & I wanted to honor her memory. To my surprise, I found a new passion in art, I just wish I had discovered my love for it while she was alive.
I really enjoyed the Hollywood legends. I'm so impressed with your skill for realism. I'd love to see some African-American legends from Hollywood's golden era would be excellent candidates. Dorothy Dandridge in Carmen & Lena Horne in Stormy Weather, Earth Kitt as Catwoman or just as herself & Josephine Baker in her famous banana skirt would be incredible

That doll dress looks gorgeous! Your mom did a fabulous job. as for the dowel it's done along with miniature color pencils, I used toothpicks and paint to make them. the dowel I only used card stock paper only make three shaped dowel, use box cutter knife to cut the hole & used scissors to cut out three dowel then glue one by one. paint over it then made the paint from Rapunzel's
paint's. The paintbrush, me and my art teach will have to work together to make it I also want to make a magical staff that looks like a paintbrush.

Lovely work, both of you! I was enamored with the hair. You nailed it. The shoes were quite close, she wears modern 30’s looking lumps with the gown in the film. She also has jewels in her hair, same as the ones on the gown. I run a group on gwtw costumes and this was shared, we really enjoyed it. Thank you! 👒🥰
