I totally agree with your perspective on the matter. I have a beautiful case for my iPhone 13 but it just feels a lot more weighted than when I first got it out of the box. Every day for about 10 minutes, I take off the case and use my iPhone and then put the case back on. The feeling of the iPhone itself is gratifying and sleek. But nonetheless, I use the case 95% of my day. It’s starting to feel like one of those “I know I shouldn’t but I want to” kind of feeling.
Haha yea that was totally me before, except I didn't really think my case was that beautiful. Every few days I would take my case off just to feel the phone and I would look things up like "Why should I take off my phone case" just because I wanted someone to tell me that it was ok to not use a phone case. But all I found was people telling me that using a phone case was essential and you should always have one on, so I was definitely feeling that "I know I shouldn't but I want to".
I removed the case off my iPhone 11 a few weeks ago, and I agree it takes a few days to get used to the fact that there's no case anymore. But the gains are huge: the general experience with the phone (holding, using, the feel in your pants pocket, ...) is wonderful. And as for scratches, even the most expensive cars also get scratches. The question you should ask yourself is: do you worry about scratches because of what others may think, or because of what you yourself may think? For most, if they're honest, I'm sure it's the former. One final observation: how more satisfying must it be to buy a new phone after a few years to replace a clearly well-used (and thus scratched) phone than to replace a phone that still looks brand new because of the case? Grant yourself a good reason to buy a new phone and the satisfaction that goes along with it.
People always ask my why I out to phone facing down and it’s for that exact reason !!!😂 we don’t want scratches. Highend Phones feel the best without a case. You paid for the comfort anyway so why not enjoy your product ☀️. I also noticed that I was more responsible with my phone without a case than with one 👏🏾
I went caseless a couple of years ago, and haven’t looked back. I am usually very careful with all of my tech. My current iPhone12 has fallen off of a few tables, and knock wood the glass is fine, but there are some tiny dings on the aluminum frame which initially bummed me out…”if I only had a case on it, wouldn’t have those dings “ I thought. But then I realized, it wouldn’t matter, because if I used a case, I wouldn’t see the perfectly non-dinged aluminum case anyway, with the case on it. So I’m happy to go caseless! No better feeling in the world!
Yea that's so true! Living with all of the dents and scratches on my phone is so much better than living with a plastic case! There are a lot of times where I have to be really careful with my phone in certain situations and I wish I had a case, but then I see my phone and forget about those wishes.
@@blakezywicki couldn’t agree more! No logic about a plastic phone being more enjoyable to use than being careful to use the phone the way it was intended to be used…sleek.
I’ve never appreciated a video about going caseless as much as I appreciate this one. I’ve actually documented my little caseless journey when I had the 11 Pro & 12 Pro. There are so many factors but I feel like we’ve had such a similar experience. There definitely is a learning curve that takes time to get over. Once you get over that there was still a certain amount of mental effort constantly required. Also using a case almost makes me lazy to going caseless. It acts as a crutch. Kinda prevents me from getting better at using a nude iPhone. And yes my biggest dilemma was “other people” especially my kids (2 & 4 years old). But man I just love using my caseless iPhone so damn much I’m willing to take the risk. Right now using a 13 Pro and it’s constantly in and out of a case. I can’t seem to last more than 24hrs. Especially the Apple leather cases seem to give me the best comfort & grip. Plus it also depends on the ever changing grip of my palms and where one lives. Im in Canada and during the winter my hands become so dry making the phone slippery. When I moisturize the phone then become greasy and slippery. So it’s just bad every time. During the summer I’ve got much better grip. So I guess I going caseless has to be a seasonal thing for me 😂😂. Thank you for the video though. I really appreciate the thought you put into it.
Thank you so much!!! Back when I was first deciding whether or not I wanted to go caseless, I was trying to look up videos on RUclips like "Should I take the case off my phone?" and I could never really find a video that solved my problem. I think that was because when I was doing that research I wanted someone to tell me that going caseless was fine and not a problem, but the only videos I saw told me that a case was necessary and that I should really use a case if I cared about my phone. But after I decided just to take it off anyway, I realized that a lot of that wasn't completely true. Because of that I think is what made me want to make this video the most, to tell people that cases aren't as necessary as some may make them out to be. If you put a little thought into being careful and put a little bit of time into getting used to using the phone caseless, then you'll have no problem at all. Thank you so much for sharing your own experiences with me! That part about the weather is never really a problem for me because I live in the Southeast United States, and here it is over 70 degrees(Fahrenheit) for 95% of the year.
@@blakezywicki Yes I absolutely agree!!! If anyone really wants to go caseless the only way you’ll know is to just try it and push yourself past the fear. Once you get over that you actually get better at being careful with your phone. It’s just like that video with Neil Degrasse Tyson on Joe Rogan. Rogan saw Neil had no case on his iPhone X and asked if he was a risk taker. Neil answers saying because he’s been using his phone caseless for a while he’s changed his risk. And yes back then there weren’t a lot of informative videos about this topic. It’s an interesting topic I think. The tough part about this process of experiencing using a caseless phone is when it drops and possibly cracks or shatters. But if you’re lucky it doesn’t crack but then you learn you’ll never do that mistake again….ever. Also yes the temperature of where one lives plays a huge role. When it gets cold enough and I’m taking the bus or sitting in the car while it warms up I can’t even feel the phone in my hands. I need a case just to use it Lolzz!!
@HausOfMontague Wow I never knew about that Neil deGrasse Tyson interview! That’s so cool you mentioned that, the things he said are so true. It’s like I’ve changed the way I handle my phone and changed my risk of dropping it.
@@blakezywicki Ya no problem. It was such cool little conversation. But I appreciate Neil’s take on it. Like the more we get better at never dropping our “rifle/iPhone” there will be less unknown factors that will cause us to drop it. 🍻
@@HausOfMontague Yea thats right, the pen thing also made sense, expensive and fragile things make us more careful with them. I would always lose my pencils until I bought like a $8 metal, now its the only one I use
Yeah, you're right about the weight part. Case makes the phone more heavy. This video was helpful! I was thinking to go caseless anyway, but thanks for giving me more reasons to remove the case. Now, I'm fully convinced that Phones without cases are better! Just gotta be more careful with the phone now.
Great insight, love it!!! So true. Used to use a case and treat phone like a toy but now with my new phone every time i handle my 14pro it still gives me this magic feeling that this is an incredible high end creation...like driving a Ferrari or something... so that sensory tactile appreciation/ awareness means I hold my device with intention, presence and connection..
Exactly yes!! It's just such a different mindset you have without a case. Like you know if you dropped it it would break so you start treating it with more care.
Thank you for your video. Some of the dumbest situation happened to me today, I’m also rocking iPhone 11 black completely naked, bought it on December 20 as a Christmas gift for myself and decided to make it the first phone that I’ll go naked with, since I was rocking my past phone naked for a lot of time. And today when I was in a hospital w/ my friend I felt asleep with my head on my knees and phone in my hand, and as you can guess, my phone slipped outta my hand and felt on a floor with a screen down, screen is fine but I got a small dent on the bottom left of my edge, and your video made me just accept it. Thank you!
Oh nooooo! That is such an unfortunate thing to happen. But its just what you sign up for when using no case! Those big dents and scratches always come with a story and make your phone yours!
Cases are not just big ugly and heavy. There is also no guarantee that if you drop your phone with a case on it that there would be no damage. Anything can happen like some part of the phone never functioning correctly again even if the glass is not broken. I even think in that sometimes they can cause a phone to run hotter. That is not good at all since some phones get uncomfortably hot at times.
I carry my phone in my pocket. Even the thinnest of cases make a huge difference in bulk and makes it annoying to pull in and out of my pocket. Plus I like the premium feel of a naked phone, and want to actually enjoy it before I upgrade to the next one. However I have noticed whenever I have to hand my phone to someone that uses a case, they’re so afraid to hold/grip the phone properly that they look like they’re going to drop it. I don’t understand why going case-less makes them so anxious. Just use common sense and be careful.
Lol! Yes that is exactly how I think about it. Like even a tiny case still feels SOOO much bulkier than the naked phone. And yes I see that all the time when I hand my phone to other people. They'll handle it so gently and delicately it makes me nervous!
i never liked cases, they look ugly to me. i love the original feeling.. for not liking a case just like me, you got a new subscriber. thank you for the video
You'll soon find in life my friend that what will matter is that you will have that memory of you mom for the rest of your life, phones are replaceable and when we let go of how much something cost or how much we value something, in the end it's only a thing and letting it control an emotion will slowly go away. Just a thought that popped up at the end, lol thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
Yea that's true man. I've figured that out and in hindsight I did overreact and act like it was more than it really was. Glad you liked the video though!
I've decided to go case-less with my z flip 4, and boy, am I enjoying it. The only time that I would definitely need to put a case on is when i go out camping. There's trees, rocks, waterfalls, etc. This is where you'll need the protection of a phone case. Basically, I pay attention to where I'm going to go and then decide to use a case or not.
Exactly!! That's all you need to do. For everyday tasks like going to work/school you don't need a case. Chances of dropping your phone in those scenarios are next to none if you put a conscious effort into keeping it safe.
I have been wearing my galaxy s8 naked for a long time, at first I was afraid and insecure, especially because of the material that is glass in the back, curved and so thin, but over time and using the phone outside it gave me security, it is the most beautiful phone in design for me, the feeling in hand is amazing
Yea the Galaxy s8 is a beautiful phone. Those are the same steps I went through too, now using any phone with a case feels unnecessary to me because I have the confidence that I won't drop it.
Yeah and plus you can buy a Galaxy S8 for less than a hundred bucks. It's basically the same price as a battery replacement or a screen replacement. So if you drop it you would literally get that, or even upgrade to like a Note 9 or a Note 10 for a couple hundred more.
Great video! I use no case as well, just screen protector. But when I am on holidays I use a case, because in my experience the highest risk of something happening is when you're out of routine...
Using a phone case only protects the back glass, and my phone doesn’t even have a back glass. And most cases make the phone bounce and drop the other way which damages the display a bit, So I use a screen protector and no case.
I've always had the doubt of using a case for my phone or not. Now I'm having my Pixel 6a and I really love the design, the feel in hand, it's just awesome. But any case I put just ruins that feel and look. Now seeing your video I'm gonna try my phone without a case for week or two. And I'm gonna comment on my experience after a week! Thanks man.
Guys, as I said I did use my 6a without any case for a week and I gotta say I'm pretty surprised that I did it. The phone in the hand feels so premium and new. The 6a looks so gorgeous. And yeah, at first I was afraid about the scratches or what if I do drop it. But after a day or two I started enjoying the experience. Like it's said in the video, "I'm holding a phone not a case" and I pretty much felt that. I handled it with care and I don't notice any scratches (maybe I don't see or care about them that much). Also I drop my phone not even a single time. So, the result is - I won't be using a case for my phone anymore. I'm just holding my phone and enjoying its design and looks, that's it. Thank you!
@@steeharanBuy an spigen thin fit case for the 6a. It adds minimal bulk to it ,but makes it sooo much grippier and has an slightly lifted edge on the Front to protect the screen. I have the thin fit on all of my phones and love it! You could also take a look at the original Google case for the 6a since its also pretty slim.
The actual design is why you bought the phone for. In my opinion cover is necessary only when you want to resell the phone, otherwise you can buy a rugged phone. Going caseless is like walking naked at the beach, priceless.
I have an I Phone 13 and I love how my phone feels without a case on it. I liked your video, you gave some good tips on how to keep your phone safe without a case on it. Thank you 😊.
Same experience. I’ve gone case-less for a while now and a few weeks ago with it being summer and being outside more, I decided to put a case on my phone. In those two weeks I’ve dropped my phone twice. Took my case off again and I’ve not dropped it since. I do have Apple Care + so glass replacement is like $29 and express replacement is $99. That’s about what the cost of a MagSafe case and screen protector would run. I choose to go case-less and in the rare event I break the glass, I’ll order an express replacement for $99 and have a replacement shipped to my door.
Yea its a so weird I used to drop my phone all the time when I had a big bulky case on it, but after I took the case off its like I just became more aware and stopped dropping it all together!
Awesome video! My first job was in construction and the only case I ever used was the massive otter box. Now I have a desk job. I love my blue iPhone 12 and I tried to find cases that would look good on it but nothing is better than metal and glass. I also run my Apple Watch 6 case less because it looks so good. But with having my watch I hardly every take my phone out.
Thanks! Yea in a construction job, I think a case is necessary because your phone is at more risk than usual. But if you won't be doing something like that, then there is no case better than no case.
There is a solution for no case people worrying about the back might get scratches: use a PPF film on your phone's back. It's super cheap and it's like the screen protector for the back. And yeah I agree no case is better: better holding experience, no heat trapped in the case. But all of my friends use cases so that kind of makes me a lone wolf 😂
Hmm I haven't ever heard of a PPF film. If it does work like a screen protector on the back then it sounds like a great solution! But I don't actually use a screen protector at all anymore😂. All of my friends and family use cases too! I've been the lone wolf for a long time, and the question of why I do it always comes up every now and then
I have an iPhone 11, when I go out, I always put my case on but at home I like to take it off. The thing about my case is that it is really hard to take off and on but it is a bit easier to pit on. It feels really nice in hand and if I go out with no case, my mum will yell at me. She is really overprotective of my phone. I don’t mind that though because sometimes I am clumsy and fall and drop things. My idea is to take it off at home and put on when going out and about doing things, and considering I love moving around I like to be a bit careful
Haha yea I would do that for a bit! Just use the case when I went out and take it off at home. But eventually I got tired of switching the case on and off so I just took it off all the time. My mom told me "You better not drop that phone!", and I havn't since.
Awesome. What you said about holding the phone with the case on and the feeling makes you think it’s not expensive, it’s plastic compared to without a case and holding the phone knowing the worth through how it feels. I got a 14 pro max and I’m going no case as of now. Cheers brah
You welcome! I think that you should definitely try using it with no case! The design of the new pixels is gorgeous! And if you aren't sure about it you could always buy a cheap case to wear when you know theres risk of dropping it, and that you can take off when you are just sitting around
Buy an spigen thin fit case for the pixel 7. It adds minimal bulk to it ,but makes it sooo much grippier and has an slightly lifted edge on the Front to protect the screen. I have the thin fit on all of my phones and love it!
Hey folks! It’s just a piece of metal , glass and plastics and it depreciate faster over time and you can replace it easily with money . So don’t give too much attention to your phones and go caseless but don’t be careless. Pay attention to your body which is a priceless marvel you have and you cannot replace your health with money. So take a good care of it !
Nice video, Blake! For years I put UAG cases on all my phones because I cannot get over how gorgeous they are. All my friends use it as well now. 😅 I have a UAG Pathfinder White on my iPhone 11 at the moment. Yes, it makes it bigger but my hands are big so I like big things 🤨 I mean it’s easier to hold. Especially because it turns the edges into a square design. There’s nothing like a UAG case to me, they look so good! And they never change, it looks the same after years of use. But I do like the iPhone 14 pro max design, and I will probably not put a case on it when I buy it, because it’s already looking so good and industrial like that, which I obviously like.
Thank you! It is all preference and what you have become accustomed to. Some cases do look and feel good, but I think it's a good idea to try using no case on your next phone. It's a feeling that no case can replicate. And as for the big hands; I wish my hands were bigger😂 but I can barely hold my iPhone 11 with no case!
Main reason why i am not able to get rid of the case is the camera bump, it is like a psychological thing tbh. Every time the my mobile is without a case, my mind keeps thinking what if the camera get scratches what if the back gets scratches. Moving forward i guess mobile companies should aim getting rid of the camera bump and get a titanium back over a glass one at-least for the "pro" phones. I don't remember many people using a case on Iphone 5 or 5S, those things were sturdy AF.
Yes I still worry about scratches, but I’ve actually gotten used to the camera bump. The reason phones have glass on the back is so that they can wirelessly charge. That doesn’t work through titanium.
I’m a person who doesn't use a case. I don’t even have a membrane. I'm currently using IPHONE 13mini . I'm not worried even if there are scratches Because I saw it in the highlights I'm sorry, I don't speak English
Cool! I don't think I could go without a screen protector(if membrane means screen protector) because while I'm not dropping my phone, it still goes through a lot of wear and tear that leaves dents and scratches in my screen protector that would otherwise be on my phone. Don't worry about your English, I understood it fine.
Exactly......Firstly you will get use to how to hold the phone without case. How much pressure is needed to hold the phone automatically....it's really cool without case.
Ever since i got my first phone back in 2016, I've always used a case. Like you, i was young and didn't really care, so I always had one on. Now, currently, im using the s23fe. When I first got it, again, I bought a spigen caseology case for it and used it like that. Then, a while ago, i thought I'd try it without the case cause it is a beautiful phone, but damn, it was so uncomfortable to hold. The edges kept digging into my hands. Im not sure if I'm the only one with that problem, but I had to put the case back on.
My only reason to use phone case is, even a single small scratch on phone will reduce the price when you resell it. Unless you don't wanna resell it and you don't care about the price when you repair the phone after you drop it then you're safe to don't use case
Yea thats certainly happened to my phone. Lots of scratches on its glass, so the resale price is likely much lower now. But in a few years, which is how long I plan on keeping this phone, I don't think resale price is going to be that important to me. Because the phone won't be fetching fantastic prices anyway many years after its release.
First iphone in 2011, iphone 4s. Never used a case and screen protector, never dropped it. And i did that with every new iphone. Now rocking the iphone 11 for almost 4 years. No case, no screen protector. Never dropped it once. I just trust myself, i'm not clumpsy. Tbh since the first iphone i purchased, i never thought of a case or screen protector. It just never came to my mind. Yes, the phone has scratches and all, but idc about that. You will eventually get them.
LOVE THIS! Thats the mindset I wish I had since I first had a phone, because I don't think I'm too clumsy of a person, so a case is just not needed. And yea I would rather look at a couple tiny scratches than a plastic or rubber case around the phone!
I don't mean to say you're wrong, it may make sense for some people to not use their case given their specific circumstances, but I must say, I've had very different experience than you 😅 I've had phones both with and without a case and I can safely say that I've been dropping the phone more when the case of off. I feel like the aluminium or fancy plastic is just more slippery, the phone is smaller so it's a bit more finicky to handle properly with my hands. Also, I've never had a screen crack with a case on, like, ever. The only times it got scratches was from when I had in my pocket. These days, most people around me who don't use a case have constantly cracked screens, while I've been fine for over a decade, with multiple phones. One think to mention is though I've never had my screen crack with a case, I did have my glass screen protector crack. That naturally didn't happen when I was using a film, so I'm inclined to believe that if you're set on using a case, it's better to match with a film screen protector, which is both cheaper and isn't as intrusive.
Yea everyone has different experiences with this. I can only speak from my point of view, but I used a case for years, and once I took it off my mindset completely changed with how I took care of my phone. While physically yes the naked phone is more slippery and easier to drop, the mindset change for me counteracted that even more and, atleast for me, I have'nt dropped my phone nearly as much since I took my case off.
Buy an spigen thin fit case. It adds minimal bulk to it ,but makes it sooo much grippier and has an slightly lifted edge on the Front to protect the screen. I have the thin fit on all of my phones and love it!
I do not actually have a new phone yet😂 still rocking the 11. However, I have ordered a 15 pro that hasn't came yet, and I will be rocking it with no case! I like the square edges, both sides have their appeal and to me personally I would prefer the square edges. Reminds me of the iphone 4, and that was such an iconic phone.
I’m thinking of going no case with my 13 an Apple Watch would go greatly in helping me make that decision tho so im not pulling my phone in and out of my pocket.
I want to use my iphone without a case but i always think about the smudges it'll get and this is the only thing that forces me to keep the case on. I never drop my phone so that is out of the story but these fingerprints are a concern to me.
I don't use phone case Kinda make phone thick and heavy Uncomfortable for holding Heated in summer (more heated in second floor with zinc rooftop) heated while charging Also feeling about phone I can feel the touch of back glass Phone with case can't mount most attachments. Yes I have alittle bump on my phone lower frame I accidentally hit with door while multitasking.
I actually watched this video months ago, but I only started going totally caseless since November. I never drop my phone. But ever since I go caseless, two incidents happened. First, I forgot I put my phone on my thigh. I went out of car, the phone fell on a stoney terrain. Idk how to say it in english but I do hope you know what I mean haha. Scratched a bit on top corner. Hurts so much. Second incident, wardrobe malfunction. I put it in my pocket. But it fell out of it. This time, fell on tar road. Caused a lot more damages. No big dents, but scratches on the corners….. that pains me deeply. Idk. I can live I guess. I truly never drop my phone. But those two incidents… dang it. Either way… caseless ftw.
Ahhh thats unfortunate. But it does happen to everyone. I've had a couple incidents where my phone drops accidentally or I miss putting it in my pocket😅! But thats what we singed up for when we go caseless! 😂
I’m noticing a trend, ever since apple went back to the boxy look. People are going without a case. It’s just a good looking premium phone. Who wants to hide that with cheap plastic and rubber. But I’ll take the glass screen protector.
Hi Blake, do you use a screen protector? I just took mine off and kinda scared of scratches on my iphone 12 pro max but I should be okay, I'm very careful
I don’t actually use one anymore. I was scared of scratches at first, still am, but if your careful you should be good. A screen protector scratches so much easier than an actual screen, so I was worried seeing how scratched my screen protector was. Buts it’s all good after a few monthes.👍
@Toni G. Yea I didn’t think it would be that annoying until i stopped using a case. Then it became such an annoyance to me because I noticed it so much more
I stopped using a case on my SE for a few weeks and go figure it drops out of my pocket onto cement at school and I wasn't thinking, running around with it in my pocket and yeah, but still it would've been fine with a case. I don't much care because I have an iphone 11 now and use a case, but I would never go caseless with an iphone 11. I'd be mad if it broke lmao. I don't drop my phone that often but if it's in my pocket it's out of my control. If you have secure pockets (zippers, velcro) and don't drop your phone tbh I don't see too much of a problem with it. I'd still recommend screen protectors for scratches. Overall tho still recommend a case, but I totally get the feeling of going caseless (like on my SE) and it felt so amazing
Yea I was having trouble keeping my phone in my pocket for the first few weeks of not using a case. I was always worried that it would fall out when I was running or jumping, so I would always have to be really careful doing those things, or just hold my phone in my hand while I did them. I do my best to avoid being in scenarios where I have to run or jump while I have my phone on me(Be it in my pocket or in my hand) but even still, I get into those scenarios sometimes.
You also always clean your phone because some people have dirty ass phones and cases. And I prefer a case because some cases have a design on it and it's more grip
The OCD me will never forgive the real me if I scratch or dent my phone - or in anything I own! I use my phone for years so I don't want to be tortured seeing a scratch every time I look at my phone. So, yeah, case and screen protector since the beginning of my smart phone journey! For those who have money to buy new phone every year then good on you...
Haha that did get on my nerves when I first started using no case. Those first few months I would constantly be checking for scratches or dents in my phone! But eventually that feeling will go away and those scratches will fade in your mind and just become part of YOUR phone. People that can afford a new phone every year obviously don't ever have to worry about that, but I've had my iPhone 11 for 3.5 years and all those accumulated scratches have just become part of my phone, and they don't ever bother me anymore.
I believe it just depends on the owner one like to keep their phone in a case or not because no matter what a naked phone is always at risk of getting dropped and even getting scratches so I believe prevention is better than cure moreover when it is costing you more 😂😂
Yea I guess, even for the most carful people there is always a risk of dropping or scratching. So whenever I slip up and my phone gets really damaged from something preventable with a case, I'll learn my lesson and start using a case again. But until then, I'm staying caseless 😁
I like it without a case I have a iPhone 13 and I have it out of the case and I like it but I also don’t want break it I’ve been thinking about it and it feels good in my hands and I type quicker and I feel the difference
Yea thats exactly the dilemma with me. I LOVE using the phone without anything on it, so I was scared for so long that I would break it without a case, but then once I finally did go caseless everything was fine.
well my reason for using a case is kinda different. here in southeast asia mobile gaming is like the go to platform for playing games, i got a note 20 ultra. yeah, you know about those curved edges, accidental touches is more grueling when u play mobile games, so theres that. and also here in my country, for the more expensive phones we tend to sell our phone when we're getting a new one, so if the phones not in a good shape they cut the price big time or even wont buy our phones.
Hmm cool take on it, I didn’t know mobile gaming was so popular in Southeast Asia and I didn’t even think about those curved edge phones. Thanks for sharing and it’s cool to see viewers from that region!
Tell that to my cats, they see a phone without a case and they know they can break it, I don't believe for a minute they are not planning it, they'll drop it on the floor the moment I drop my guard, let's face it, it doesn't matter how careful you are, the phone will fall on the ground, more than once, if you want to use it without the case try it when you are on the bed, but don't forget it there if you have cats, they are sneaky, get a slim case like a ringke onyx or a spigen liquid air, it looks good, it feels good, and it protects pretty well even from mid height, naked feels better but it ain't safe no matter how careful you are.
Lol yea I don't have any cats, but I do know that they like to push things off of counters, which would be a nightmare for me having no case. The safest place to put my phone is in the middle of counter, but I guess there are no bounds for a cat, so they could move it 4 feet to the edge and drop it on the ground when I wasn't paying attention. I haven't tried a slim case, and I don't think I will for awhile unless something major happens to my phone where it would have been safe with it.
Thats fair. I think the first thing to go is the case, then later on you may find the screen protector too to be too "in the way". Thats what happened to me and now my phone is caseless and screen protectorless.
@@blakezywicki so far I never found screen protectors bothersome. They did safe my phone three times in the last few years. I usually buy the store brand at the local repair shop. 20 bucks and they install it, too. A fair deal.
@@BlueShift24 Ya for the longest time I never had a problem with screen protectors, but then recently I just found them to be "in the way". And that slight irritation of my finger running over its edge every now and then brought me to take it off
@@blakezywicki funny. I recently had to replace my screen protector (because it somehow fell of by it‘s own) and now thought: Why bother with another 20€. Didn’t replace it. 🤷🏼♂️
Haha! Good to hear! Although my iPad is the one thing that I actually use a case on lol! I have one of those magnetic folio cases so that I can use it as a stand when I need it, but when I'm not using the stand, I can easily take it out of the magnet and use it naked.
its like mkbhd said. engineers spend alot of time on the phones design and overall feel. i love how my iphone 13 feels naked but they are so fragile and i wouldnt want to spend 900 dollars again. another great solution to this would be to get apple care
Yea now that I don't have a case anymore, apple care honestly doesn't seem like too bad of a deal. The case that I was using was like $50, and so are a lot of nice cases. With that money you could get apple care for a couple months where you could get used to using the phone and you would be able to avoid dropping it.
Inconvenient without a case : in cafe when you put your phone on the side and watch something it’s slippery and always slips of whatever you put under iPhone for angle view; iPhone 13 Pro in particular is very slippery in hands and sharp as well. So , it’s all cool looking but really inconvenient
Lol it is really inconvenient! That exact scenario has happened to me so many times! I always try to prop my phone on something on a table, then it ends up falling down. But, its a trade off that I've gotten used to over time
@@blakezywicki I found solution for myself- pop socket on magnet on the back side. Works like magic, takes less spade in pocket and iPhone is without a case
I haven't used a screen protector nor a case on my phone for a few weeks. But then my phone ends up scratching a little bit. It annoyed the hell out of me even tho it is just a small scratch. Now I use a screen protector but not with a case because the screen protector seems too big for the case.
Yea those little scratches annoy me too. But I've gotten over them and I use my phone with no case or screen protector everyday, and its been fine so far👍
I have an i 12 now but I had a 7 before and I had a case on it all the 3 years I owned it and it was like new and this year i decided to take off the case and.. it went to E-waste in less then 2 weeks I paid like 200 € to fix it and in 1 week it break again so I just went to 12 and put case and screen protector on it. Eh I agree that the phone feels really good without protective things, but it’s just doesn’t combine with my clumsiness
Yea that sucks. I don't know what I would have done if I got unlucky like that in the first 2 weeks without a case. But For me right now, I'm careful enough to where I won't drop it even without a case, so I go for whatever feels the best.
Some of the newer brands of clear cases work well as keeping the weight down. I saw a guy once with a XS max with no case. Back glass was broken and glass missing with huge cracks across the front. He loved that phone. I had one also but mine was cased with screen protector. Recently I traded it in and the people at the counter said it was in new condition. I got quite a bit for it in trade. Presentation is everything.
I drop my phone all the time but still go caseless because I hate cases. I owned XS and cracked the back maybe 3 times and replaced it myself. Now I have iPhone 13 and still drop it. The only thing what come off is some paint. Once it felt REALLY hard on stone. Only some metal brushed away. That’s the only place which is irritating me. But I polish it with it with matte black nail paint. You see nothing.
Yea it is all up to interpretation and the person looking at the phone. For some people they have cracks in their phone but they still use it without a case for the experience of it. And some people have the care and control to keep it in pristine condition with or without a case
I think it's great that you don't use a case or screen protector but I don't like my phone getting scratches and dents. Looking like crap so I use a screen protector and case not always because I'm clumsy but it's like having insurance. Better safe than sorry!
I got the green iPhone 11 before the 14 came out I have the black silicone case do you think I should just get the official apple clear case because it is pretty slim and shoes the colour of my phone well or do you think I should just go no case
If you think you can avoid dropping your phone or knocking it over or anything, then obviously I would say go with no case. But if you do want some protection then I think those apple clear cases are nice, I’ve seen them and they are pretty slim, so they wouldn’t be a bad choice.
Those first few scratches hurt, but after time u genuinely dont care anymore. I see the “dammage” as personalizing ur phone it really makes it your phone…
Yea I totally agree, I’m feeling that a little now. The scratches suck at the beginning but after awhile you don’t care. Then for the actually noticeable dents on the side, those just make it more my phone because I remember what happened when those dents got there.
@@blakezywicki yess exacly, I also feel like, the more your phone wears and scratches over time, you can use it more ‘comfortably’. This kinda ties in with the “not caring anymore” in a way ig. It has a lot of pros imo, but one big con. That being resell value…
Yea that’s the big problem. But I do agree with the first point. After having no case for a year and a half, I finally don’t have to put my phone on a table so gently, just minor things I don’t have to do anymore because I’m used to the scratches already.
Haha thank you so much! I do think it would be fun to make another video, but I just don't know what I have the knowledge of or experience in to talk about that much😂
My iPhone 14 pro 256GB was $1100.00. Lol there’s no way I wouldn’t use both a screen protector and a case to prevent accidents happening. The screen will wear out over time and begin to not only scratch but bacteria from your fingers eventually eat away at the glass. It will get cloudy where you scroll most. And as far as dropping it can depend what your everyday life is like. I work in the trades. That’s a no brainer that I need a case. It can accidentally fall get banged even in the pocket but with a cheap case on it can save the day. I get clear cases the Mkeke is the one I have now. It’s great protection but not bulky at all and is crystal clear to show the iPhone perfectly. Stay safe all!!!
Yea there are a lot of things that can go wrong without a case, and it is kind of a silly idea to use these expensive phones without protection. But until something does happen to me where I drop my phone and a case could have saved it, I'll be in the no case business! And yea if you are doing something that puts your phone at risk all the time then it most likely is worth it to wear a case all the time. But for me, I'm finishing up high school and about to go to college, so I think that I can and will generally be able to stay out of risky scenarios
@@blakezywicki ya. Best of luck. I dropped mine the other day from about 5ft on tile flooring. Saved me. You seem like you got your head on. Cause when I was in high school there was no smart phone but if there was I would have need a case lol I was a bit wild. We had the Nextel back then. Good times. Lol. Stay safe bro.
It is true without cover the phone look like a Phone the piece of material of technology I can agree I have iPhone 12 mini and I use without cover before that I was using Samsung galaxy S9 in cover and it how many dent and it’s really hard and I have seen that when I put a cover that I am I never think about the phone when it’s fall down and that is a such a big mistake for me so after that I understand in cover also the phone never say never and we not take any feeling about the phone where is the company has make and you’re all points are right
I got some scratches on my screen from placing face down. But then i realized i can just make display icon without message details... then no notification at all on the lock screen... Still put on a case when working out or if i know im going to be doing more than walking.
Hi from Sénégal i hardly ever use a case just once in a while when i get really busy outdoors.... Cases trap so much heat n its actually bad for any phone😊...
Wow! From Senegal thats crazy! Yea I think that just using a case situationally is fine. I won't even use one when I'm going outdoors, maybe a little silly, but so far its been fine!
@@blakezywicki yes that’s right. Awesome cuz really cases are actually really bad for phones as trapping heat will actually destroy it. I doubt in the future anyone will be using cases 😂
Depends on what scratches you are talking about. Big scratches are only going to come from big things, drops or hits. However the backs of the glossy iphones(11,12,13,14) are prone to microscratches. Good thing about these ones though is that they are very small and you can't actually see them in most lighting. You'll only notice them when you are deliberately looking for them
IS IT REALLY OKAY? MY HEART CRYING LOOK THIS VIDEO 😭 i wish I could wear no cases but the world was too scary, even just floor tiles looks will hurt my phone 💔
Haha OMG! Yea my phone is fine, I haven’t dropped it yet. In the part of this when I drop it, I had a cushion off screen that I dropped it on. But yea, hard ground is always scary now😬
I can’t stand a case, I like the phone as it’s meant to be out the box. When you buy a phone it’s not got a case on it in the box, that’s the way I think. Plus cases build up dirt which is more leading to scratches than when you don’t.
Yea I haven't ever tried a skin, so I can't talk about that. But I do think I would like one because they change up the design and don't make the phone thicker!
Idk mane. I got 3 40 dollar cases. I bought iPhone 14 pro. N I just feel like I don’t wanna damage it by not having a case on it. It looks better and feels better without it. But it just cost too much for me not to protect it
Yea thats the only downside here. Even the most careful person can't avoid the tiny scratches and dents that collet after months or years of daily use.
Buy an spigen thin fit case. It adds minimal bulk to it ,but makes it sooo much grippier and has an slightly lifted edge on the Front to protect the screen. I have the thin fit on all of my phones and love it!
I would like to say that I have gotten so used to using my phone without a case that I don't drop it at all anymore, but that would be lying because I have dropped it a few times without a case. I most of the times have been when I was trying to put my phone in my pocket, and it just slid right next to the pocket hole and I let go of the phone so it dropped. Most of these times and these drops have been from like 3 feet at the most, so luckily nothing to major has happened to my phone. It's still crack free on the front and back.
using phone without case literally makes me feel *Minimalistic*
Kudos blake, I too don't use phone case. ✌️
Yea same! It's a great feeling!
Me too, No case on S23
Omg me too 😳🤣
I dropped my iPhone 13 on concrete while it was in the case, now it has a dent on the aluminium.
Straight facts. Everything scratches. Mirrors, windows, expensive trucks/cars,
People always ask my why I out to phone facing down and it’s for that exact reason !!!😂 we don’t want scratches. Highend Phones feel the best without a case. You paid for the comfort anyway so why not enjoy your product ☀️. I also noticed that I was more responsible with my phone without a case than with one 👏🏾
Yea exactly! I just don't get how people feel comfortable putting a $20 rubber/plastic case on a $700+ phone
Yea man go caseless that is why so expensive that desing is fire
Or beter take skin and safe phone gg
@Useful Mess realmente piensa el porque quieres que te dure para siempre si cada año sale uno nuevo o cada dos renuevas contrato con tu proveedor.
@@blakezywicki lol my case is only like 4 dollars but it has a lot of grip so i don’t drop it but idk if i should take it off
I went caseless a couple of years ago, and haven’t looked back.
Exactly!
Na, this just shows the over consumption world we live in , take care of your phones
@@feartheroo42 I like my phone better without the case because it gets over heat I just toke off the case it looks more clean without the case
Thank you! It’s so great to hear that my argument was convincing enough! Good luck with it!👍
Great insight, love it!!!
Haha yea! I totally agree with all of those, wish I had mentioned them!
Yea, some cases can look good, but nothing competes with a naked phone. Thanks for the sub! You're welcome for the video, it was a lot of fun!
Thank you!

The actual design is why you bought the phone for. In my opinion cover is necessary only when you want to resell the phone, otherwise you can buy a rugged phone. Going caseless is like walking naked at the beach, priceless.
Haha lol! Yea, I won't be selling phone for a few more years so preserving the resale value is no that important to me.
I have an I Phone 13 and I love how my phone feels without a case on it. I liked your video, you gave some good tips on how to keep your phone safe without a case on it. Thank you 😊.

It's a great feeling😌
Love your content bro. I’ve been caseless since i bought my first ever cellphone.
I removed the case a week ago. My iphone 11 pro feels thinner and sexier. I'm afraid it might fall and crack, but I'll be more careful.
Awesome. What you said about holding the phone with the case on and the feeling makes you think it’s not expensive, it’s plastic compared to without a case and holding the phone knowing the worth through how it feels. I got a 14 pro max and I’m going no case as of now. Cheers brah
Haha good luck and thanks!!! To me the phone just doesn't feel like the premium device it is when its covered by a layer of plastic or rubber!

I have a UAG Pathfinder White on my iPhone 11 at the moment.
Also, hey i am your 19th subscriber 🙋🏻♂️
Yes I still worry about scratches, but I’ve actually gotten used to the camera bump. The reason phones have glass on the back is so that they can wirelessly charge. That doesn’t work through titanium.
I’m a person who doesn't use a case. I don’t even have a membrane. I'm currently using IPHONE 13mini .
I'm not worried even if there are scratches Because I saw it in the highlights
I'm sorry, I don't speak English
Great video! I was on the fence about going sans case, but after watching your video I’ve decided to give it a try. Thanks!
Wow thats so great to hear! I'm glad I could convince at least one person to give it a try!
Phone without a case makes me feel alive haha
My only reason to use phone case is, even a single small scratch on phone will reduce the price when you resell it. Unless you don't wanna resell it and you don't care about the price when you repair the phone after you drop it then you're safe to don't use case
Yea thats certainly happened to my phone. Lots of scratches on its glass, so the resale price is likely much lower now. But in a few years, which is how long I plan on keeping this phone, I don't think resale price is going to be that important to me. Because the phone won't be fetching fantastic prices anyway many years after its release.
Yes you need a phone case it's better
Otterbox commuter is actually a great case. It’s like the slimmest one otterbox makes
I don't mean to say you're wrong, it may make sense for some people to not use their case given their specific circumstances, but I must say, I've had very different experience than you 😅
I've had phones both with and without a case and I can safely say that I've been dropping the phone more when the case of off.
Great video man, keep it up
Thank you! I've been wanting to make another video, but tbh theres not much that I know enough about to share😂
Do you have a new phone now? What do you think of the squared off edges?
I do not actually have a new phone yet😂 still rocking the 11. However, I have ordered a 15 pro that hasn't came yet, and I will be rocking it with no case! I like the square edges, both sides have their appeal and to me personally I would prefer the square edges. Reminds me of the iphone 4, and that was such an iconic phone.
I’m thinking of going no case with my 13 an Apple Watch would go greatly in helping me make that decision tho so im not pulling my phone in and out of my pocket.
That sounds great! I have an Apple Watch and it does reduce the amount of times I pull my phone in and out of my pocket.
I just went no case, only thing I have is a screen protector.
I want to use my iphone without a case but i always think about the smudges it'll get and this is the only thing that forces me to keep the case on. I never drop my phone so that is out of the story but these fingerprints are a concern to me.
Putting your 1000 dollar phone on a 5 dollar case is like covering up your ferrari with a plastic cover in fear of getting a scratch 😂
Dang this quality is pretty good what camera did you use?
Thanks for that! It was actually on a 2013 canon t5i!
I don't use phone case
Kinda make phone thick and heavy
Uncomfortable for holding
Heated in summer (more heated in second floor with zinc rooftop)
heated while charging
Also feeling about phone
I can feel the touch of back glass
Phone with case can't mount most attachments.
Yes I have alittle bump on my phone lower frame
I accidentally hit with door while multitasking.
That’s exactly how I feel!
without a case, anxiety got pressured
Yea I’m so nervous using my phone over hard surfaces or over large drops. It’s so scary😬
I got a casetify ad before this vid lmao
LOL! Seems like a conflict or interests😂
I’m noticing a trend, ever since apple went back to the boxy look. People are going without a case. It’s just a good looking premium phone. Who wants to hide that with cheap plastic and rubber. But I’ll take the glass screen protector.
Yea those new phones look sooooo good. I wish I waited one more year for the 12. But at least now I have that to look forward to in a couple of years.
Well said 👍 I haven’t had a case on my iPhone 12 in a while and I love it
NICE! Once you take the case off you can't go back!
@@blakezywicki Thank you I hate screen protectors too however I like the protection
@Toni G. Yea I didn’t think it would be that annoying until i stopped using a case. Then it became such an annoyance to me because I noticed it so much more
@@blakezywicki I love cases lol I like protecting my phone and devices because it’s too slippery not to use one
@Toni G. Haha, yea I feel that sometimes
Honestly... Great video
It's true, the iPhone 12 Pro feels so good in the hand without a case.
It really does, I love the matte finishes on a lot of phones. Too bad Apple reserves that for the "Pro" line
Video was great
Thank you!
@@blakezywicki no problem
This feels like a video that was uploaded in 2010
Haha! Is that in a good way or a bad way?😂
well my reason for using a case is kinda different. here in southeast asia mobile gaming is like the go to platform for playing games, i got a note 20 ultra. yeah, you know about those curved edges, accidental touches is more grueling when u play mobile games, so theres that. and also here in my country, for the more expensive phones we tend to sell our phone when we're getting a new one, so if the phones not in a good shape they cut the price big time or even wont buy our phones.
Totally agree. I do use a screen protector though.
@@BlueShift24 Haha ya! That certainly is one way to make that decision! Hope its going great!
Thanks for the advice I will try that with my ipad
@@callmemrdee Yea pop sockets have always been good for that, they're just not my aesthetic so ive never used one
*takes a shot everytime you said "so" ..
Just kidding
good points, good job bro
Haha thank you! I do agree though, my speech was super incoherent and unprepared. But hey, the algorithm clearly liked it more than I expected😊
Friend:- Oh…this is that 700$ phone u bought…drops it while taking it from your hands 📱💔
💔That’s my worst nightmare
I haven't used a screen protector nor a case on my phone for a few weeks. But then my phone ends up scratching a little bit. It annoyed the hell out of me even tho it is just a small scratch. Now I use a screen protector but not with a case because the screen protector seems too big for the case.
Yea those little scratches annoy me too. But I've gotten over them and I use my phone with no case or screen protector everyday, and its been fine so far👍
I have an i 12 now but I had a 7 before and I had a case on it all the 3 years I owned it and it was like new and this year i decided to take off the case and..
it went to E-waste in less then 2 weeks
I paid like 200 € to fix it and in 1 week it break again so I just went to 12 and put case and screen protector on it.
These new iPhones are stronger then ever.
Yea it is all up to interpretation and the person looking at the phone. For some people they have cracks in their phone but they still use it without a case for the experience of it. And some people have the care and control to keep it in pristine condition with or without a case
That’s a nice iPhone 11 he has there. Looks brand spanking new.
Honestly scratches are bound to happen wear and tear is normal after using anything for some time
what a smart kid 😊
Thank you! 😁
I think it's great that you don't use a case or screen protector but I don't like my phone getting scratches and dents. Looking like crap so I use a screen protector and case not always because I'm clumsy but it's like having insurance. Better safe than sorry!
Haha yea the scratches and dents are tough to look at sometimes, but to be its still a good tradeoff for the feeling all the time.
@@blakezywicki alright thanks 🙏
Please make more videos! Your doing great and I would love to see a vlog or something ❤
Yea thanks! That’s what I’m talking about! You never think about dropping your phone when you have a case, so you end up dropping it and breaking it
I got some scratches on my screen from placing face down. But then i realized i can just make display icon without message details... then no notification at all on the lock screen...
Still put on a case when working out or if i know im going to be doing more than walking.
Yea I'll still put on a case too sometimes if I know that ill have to leave my phone in someplace where it could get scratched or damaged

I have the 12 iphone. Is the back really prone to scratches?
Depends on what scratches you are talking about. Big scratches are only going to come from big things, drops or hits. However the backs of the glossy iphones(11,12,13,14) are prone to microscratches. Good thing about these ones though is that they are very small and you can't actually see them in most lighting. You'll only notice them when you are deliberately looking for them
I belong to the group of handy people thankfully; so no case is ever needed 🙂
😁Thats great to hear!
IS IT REALLY OKAY? MY HEART CRYING LOOK THIS VIDEO 😭 i wish I could wear no cases but the world was too scary, even just floor tiles looks will hurt my phone 💔

@@blakezywicki how about your camera? Is it also fine? Bcs i know some people also add extra protection for their camera
Yea my camera is fine. The glass on the camera is stronger than the rest of the glass on the phone.
@@blakezywicki even from scratches?
Yea, it’s a harder glass on the cameras
I can’t stand a case, I like the phone as it’s meant to be out the box. When you buy a phone it’s not got a case on it in the box, that’s the way I think. Plus cases build up dirt which is more leading to scratches than when you don’t.
Yea I agree. I hate that when you get a new phone, you can’t really “use it” until you put a case and screen protector on it.
Yeah i love the feel of my s24 with a case why did samsung make an effort on design and colour for me to slap it in a generic silicone case
Nomad leather SKIN + Screen protector is my go to. If not, just an Apple Leather case without Screen protector.
Yea I haven't ever tried a skin, so I can't talk about that. But I do think I would like one because they change up the design and don't make the phone thicker!
Good video!
Thanks!

Well you win some you lose some. Maybe another time
@@blakezywicki Actually, no matter what I always drop my phone, is in case or not. That's why I always use or like case.

How many times do you dropped your phone without a case?
I would like to say that I have gotten so used to using my phone without a case that I don't drop it at all anymore, but that would be lying because I have dropped it a few times without a case. I most of the times have been when I was trying to put my phone in my pocket, and it just slid right next to the pocket hole and I let go of the phone so it dropped. Most of these times and these drops have been from like 3 feet at the most, so luckily nothing to major has happened to my phone. It's still crack free on the front and back.
