- It's good to have my scanner on during the day, I've trained myself to listen for FRED while sleeping. ELS 501 was coming back south Friday for a short train of freight. Nothing too fancy.

Happy Easter! Praise Jesus!!!
As it tiptoes on the Soggy spot and eases out of town the service cycle is pretty much where it should be. One item they were fortunate about was they didn't need to move many storage cars. The three cars of siding could reflect a partial plant shut down for the holiday. With 5 days of off and on rain it's a good time to be around the homefront. Wishing all of our viewers a blessed Easter which in some respects is starting to become another forgotten holiday
Tell that to the retailers that are still making $$$$$ from Easter Candy🍬🐇 and other related Easter👚👗👠🥿 items.
And it's not forgotten in the Christian✝️🎵🎶🛐 Religions either!
I think this was the train that derailed too..
Just heard from Southern Railfan that Hobo Shoestring, aka Mark Nichols, has been reported missing by his family in Johnson City. Hope he is found soon.
Great video of a small combo locomotive 🚂.thanks for sharing this video. Thanks Jason.
They really need to change that sick horn, it sounds like a sick cow 😂😂😂😂
😂 Happy Resurrection Sunday to you and your family Jason, thanks for the video, and There is a derailment coming soon
He is risen indeed!
Happy easter and good train video
Church and then Cracker Barrel.
Hi Jason, good video
I hope hoboshoestring comes home soon safely to Johnson city Tennessee
Have A happy and safe Easter holiday weekend .
Thanks for posting about Shoestring Jason.
ELS 501, 502, & 503 are all SD40-2s with 3000 Horsepower and should theoretically all be putting out the same horsepower and tractive effort. If there is any difference in their horsepower or tractive effort it would be due to different degrees of wear and tear on the locomotives. They should all be rated to pull over 7,000 tons on flat ground. A little over 3,000 tons on a 1.25 % grade.
Jason thanks for video, Hope you and your family a very great Easter Sunday.
super video 😍😍❤❤
Have a wonderful Easter
Happy Easter Jason again enjoy your videos alot
Happy Easter!!!
Nice! Happy Easter!
Once they get into Wisconsin they can open the throttle and get rolling
Happy Easter! Jason
Happy Easter and April fools day
Saw you between Sagola and channing on Thursday
Wishing you and family a blessed Easter tomorrow!
23 cars today.
You mean 501 is a little less worn out than 502...all of E&LS power is ancient, my favorite was the SD9s
Maybe 501 has a 4 barrel carburetor !
Looks like ELS has a slow order for this section of track...
Good morning Jason I have a little concerning news mark Nicole's a.k.a. Hobo shoe string is missing no details as to where he went where he is if everybody can download the app WJHL that is the local Bristol Johnson City and Kingsport news they have a silver alert for hobo shoe string on that
Need to get a drone for a Ariel view of train in the future that would be oil
i suggested that, lets take a vote if he should get one.....i wouldnt mind myself
or put a gopro on one of his parrots
Jason, Was wondering if you have ever video taped logs being loaded onto rail cars?
Jason asselin hobo shoe string is missing can you ask people in America if they have seen him
Happy Easter to you. Catch you next time. Greg. 😊.
The engines for the train are they from General Motors I was always wondering what the GM in the front of the engine means.
As stenciled on the side of the cab, this unit was once part of the EMD locomotive leasing fleet. It was originally built as Milwaukee Road #22 in 1973
GM sold its Electro-Motive Division, and no longer is in the locomotive manufacturing business.
What ever happened to #503, the BNSF painted one? And the GP38? Seems like they are relieing on SD40's too much!
I counted 23 cars on the train.
501 & 502 are both rated at 3,000 hp, the only reason one could be more powerful than the other would be the gear ratio in the power trucks.
Both locos have standard freight 62:15 gear ratio. The condition of the AR10 alternator windings & traction motors play a role as well as prime mover performance in power delivered for tractive effort. We all know internal combustion engines grow weaker as they age, until refreshed with new parts. But not all wear the same, as noted by unit 500 dead. 501 is 51 yrs old. 502 is 44 yrs old.
Have either gone through any rebuilds? One might have had hp reduced.
Wishing your parrots a happy Easter.
Happy Easter Jason !
going to the dump today to get rid of rubbish......so a truck can pick it up and haul it to the train yard and dump it in a trash train......not really, they haul it to an incinerator to get burnt
Happy Easter. any news on 503 and 402?
Or 600?
ever hear or see a GP20 Locomotive?
Yes. I ran one a number of years ago on the Indiana Transportation Museum's FairTrain. The engine was borrowed from Indiana Rail Road.
Being a former worker for the central Illinois line TP&W, I saw
plenty of Santa Fe GP20’s. Then, when Santa Fe GP20’s
were sold to the “new” TP&W,
I was no longer employed by
them, but still got to see them!
@@TPW900GP35 i have the tyco ho scale version of the santa fe gp20 and i think its really cool looking......it has that slanted down hood that makes it look like a tractor trailer.......sorry about your job with them
@@Joe-pb3lx Yeah, I started with the
TP&W (we called it the Tip-Up, don’t
ask me why) right out of high school
as a clerk and had to take severance
pay in 1985. That was the original
TP&W that was owned half and half
by Pennsylvania Co. (it still existed in
1982 or 83, the exact year escapes me) and Santa Fe. The Penn. Co. sold
their half to Santa Fe in 1982-83. From
then on, I was employed by Santa Fe.
I took severance from them in 1985.
Any train coming out of the UP is, or should be considered a monster train considering! A hundred years ago there were hundreds of carloads of lumber and ore coming south daily, with two MAJOR railroads running through Iron Mountain. It seems that the state of Michigan has forgotten about it's northern half somewhat. They didn't replant the forests, they gave up on iron ore and the other metals still presant. The place seems like it is a wasteland compared to some other states.... the loss of Detroit $$$$ killed Upper Michigan in my opinion
what cam do you use
Whats up with the dirt roads? ......i actually like dirt roads, keeps people going slower and easier to fill in the pot holes
Alot of roads when they go bad are ground up and left as is. No money to repair or replace. No sure on this road.
This has always been a side road for access to the alley...
having homemade meat lasagna sunday.......
just another day at my place at easter time.......pagan holiday
Pagans never use Easter, in their religion it is known as Ostera [pronounced: Ah stair uh] And, no, I'm not pagan, but was in that circle for 6+ years, Christmas = Yule, and Halloween = Samhain [pronounced: Sow when, NOT Sam Hain.]
@@HolidayDecorator ......yeah im not into any kind of holiday.....just a money grab.....im not of this world.......just down here for a long vacation of study and suffering......lol
@@Joe-pb3lx Neither am I. But I know the Holidays have become quite commercialized, and not celebrated as they should be.
I make most Holidays [mainly Christian ones] a celebration of, and a reflection on Jesus and God.
I do Holiday lightshows, and I do decorate with specialized computerized controllers and RGB lights[every bulb is independantly contolled] set to music.
I use old classics, and new upbeat music, it's a mix of both Christian and Secular music.
But I don't use any of that vulgar music some folks listen too, no cursing or anything that promotes assasinating law enforcement officers, nothing like that garbage!
I use clean, resepectable music so anyone of any age can enjoy it.
So, it's not commercialized so-to-speak, as what I use in my Holiday displays may have been purchased, but what I use isn't found in your everyday retail store either, not even on Amazon[lights and controllers I use].
But I do buy some items from Amazon for my Holiday displays and modify them by adding my specialized lights for my musical lightshow displays. But I don't advertise anything or make any money from my displays.
So in that sense, my Holiday displays are not monetized or commercialized at all.
@@HolidayDecorator ......sounds really nice, id like to see it but living where i live its not possible but im sure it puts a smile on peoples faces
Can they go any slower???
They could the tracks are that bad that they have to go slow
yes.....and should
Sure. On the line on which I ran, there was a 6 mph street-running speed restriction. If the head brake man had to flag a crossing, we wouldn't go faster than 4 mph until he climbed back on.
