They forget the part where six years later they release a cult-classic sequel set in a contemporary satire of our zeitgeist with social experiment elements
I thin it would have been funny, and maybe even genuinely helped the game if they took even one moment aside to attempt to dissect the character, figure out what went wrong in his life or whatever, and all you find out is that "He's just an angry guy". Like maybe he had a really normal life with a normal, loving, supportive family, but he's always just been a piece of shit who hated everyone and everything. Just the line "I'm just an angry guy" is just genuinely funny to me, and I think it can be funny when the audience comes to the realization that there's no rhyme or reason to anything.
@@graymads agreed, but I think the idea of a guy having no specific greivance or inciting incident fueling his destructive rampage is kind of funny. A subversion of the expectation of a tragic backstory or some kind of maniacal master plan. Where this game chooses to simply sidestep the idea that this character even HAS a past, I think the comedy would come from specifically attempting to address it, and coming away with the conclusion "Oh he's just an asshole." I dunno,, maybe it's only funny in my head.
I wouldn’t surprised if I heard this in game “I am the harbinger of death the verge of destruction this world shall know pain as they feast upon my edge, and lead!” I remember this being everywhere, but then nobody talked about it when it released.
The game was always intended to be black and white, even concept art of the game depicts this, also the game isn't suppose to be funny, though admittedly some of "not important"s lines are pretty funny ironically, the game had a lot of cut content as well. I don't think the game is terrible. though they dropped the ball on not including multiplayer considering the viewpoint of the game. we need a sequel, this edgelord deserves another chance.
@@graymads it was one of the first games to feature large amounts of NCPs reacting independently. Story mode had you fighting The Corporation in quests, while arcade mode let you run amok in five levels, with bonuses for various targets. Made by Rockstar Games, not even they want to remind anyone it exists.
BRO YES!!! State of Emergency and GTA were the only games that my mom singled out by name that I wasn’t allowed to play growing up. I’m glad someone else has finally said what I’ve been thinking whenever controversial early-mid 2000s video games get brought up. I’ve always found it odd how slept on it is being that it’s a Rockstar release.
Potshot at Razorfist was funny, thought he was neat up until he had a circle jerk with Mage Leader, which is perhaps the most cringe neocon figure in the Battletech community.
Did any inteligent person actually take the game seriusly even after the first trailer? Seemed pretty obvius the game was supposed to be edgy and campy on purpose. Decent mindless fun. Would play again
The dev team also made warmongrels which managed to tackle the atrocities of ww2 with way more nuance and tact than most ww2 media. It doesent play along with the old trope of "nazi bad therefor everyone else automatically good" so to call devs edgy is a bit unfair i think. They are also Polish, and eastern europeans have different sensibities from westerners, so i dont think they should be judged too harshly trough a western lens
2 minutes in, and you are by far THE CINGIEST THING about this video! your commentary is cringe itself. i'm not finishing this. i played the game and loved it. you didn't, it's your problem. also "it's not a phase mom" is actually a parody over "304 it's not a phase mom"
Well there are mods to fix the game it’s not terrible but it isn’t the best game ever the best part about that game was the Noir art style purely because it reminds me of sin city.
Mr. Hatred is definitely very hammy and edgy teenager angst type.
They forget the part where six years later they release a cult-classic sequel set in a contemporary satire of our zeitgeist with social experiment elements
Hatred is the "Eat Pant" is Postal 1's "Eat My Shorts"

Edge for edge's sake is kinda boring imo.

Very wholesome game (btw will you ever make a vid on sludge metal, acid bath, or the Louisiana sludge scene?)
I definitly plan on covering Acid Bath because I have heard nothing but praise for them. But I need to sit with them more before I do so.
