    I would have considered Rahul Dravid as a far better coach than Ravi Shastri even if india had lost this t20 World Cup because then it would have meant no big trophies in his cabinet either just like Shastri but Dravid, the coach brought consistency in player selection as they backed almost every player as much as possible even if failed in 3 or 4 innings completely, despite being a defensive batsman himself, he along with Rohit asked all their batters to play attacking cricket in t20s all the time which was accepted by even Virat Kohli whose natural game is not to play big shots right from start plus every player not just respects Dravid but the way they talk about him, it feels that they genuinely like him whereas Shastri along with Virat never backed players and there was no real process followed six months or 1 year before an icc tournament.Shastri even said that winning icc trophies was not his aim.

      I noticed such backing only in last 2 white ball ICC tournaments in the actual tournament (before these two tournaments there was lot of uncertainty) plus Asia Cup and in test format. In white ball bilaterals they weren't consistent in backing except their favourites.... It was opposite in Kohli shastri era. They used to back all in bilaterals but they used make experiments in final squad . And backing the favourites was constant in both eras

    Dravid has been great. The Shastri and Kohli combo were embarrassing. They lost test series 1-4 to England and then claimed that the scoreline did not reflect the way India played and a draw was more appropriate?? Then the September 2021 Old Trafford test called off because they wanted to rush to IPL . The coach had few days before launched his book in London breaking Covid rules and catching covid. Kohli struggles to play in swinging English conditions and will be remembered as Anderson's bunny as has struggled to know his off stump

      Dravid and Rohit were great however Shastri and Kohli combo was brilliant especially in Test cricket. Kohli was one of the most aggressive test captains I have seen. India won 2 test series in Australia in 2018 and 2021 I was at the game when india were bowled out for 36 and ravi Shastri gave a speech and said india will win the series when Kohli was due to fly back to India for the birth of his daughter. Shastri was one of the best coaches India had. Dravid and Shastri have done brilliant and its not going to be easy for the next coach to do what they did.
      Dravid is one of the greatest cricket minds in the world and also greatest players. What he did for India is very special. Timeless steel is what Dravid is.
      Rohit is one of the best captains india had as well.

    • @shahzadirani
      @shahzadirani 5 дней назад

      @@shreyashnawale1809 yeah but then the same duo also went and screwed it up by breaking the rules and catching Covid. That's part of leadership. The Rohit Dravid tenure brought a no-nonsense approach, much more stability, and professionalism in Indian Cricket and was better than Shastri's and Kohli's era where the only notable achievement was winning the test series vs Australia in 2018 where Smith and Warner were suspended.

    • @shahzadirani
      @shahzadirani 5 дней назад

      @@Nikhilkh24 I'm sorry but I agree with the original post. Shastri and Kohli - their only notable achievement was the test series win vs Australia in 2018 where Smith and Warner were suspended. The 2021 test series win vs Australia in Australia belongs to Rahane's captaincy. Kohli and Shastri showed aggression by just being "loud" lol. True aggression is what Sachin, Dravid, Dhoni, etc. showcased through their eyes. Even Rayudu mentioned this in a podcast how he was ignored for the number 4 spot because he was "quiet" and "shy" and how that was mistaken for NOT being confident, and that blunder by Shastri and Kohli cost us the 2019 ODI World Cup. Shastri was a good coach, but both Kohli and him together caused a lot of turmoil for Indian Cricket internally, especially Kohli when he ousted Anil Kumble as the coach in 2017.
      The Dravid-Rohit era brought more calmness, stability, and professionalism much like the days of Gary Kirsten and Dhoni.

We used to so that because at time of Gavaskar and 90s Sachin our team didn't win games consistently so personal records gave us some sort of satisfaction. But that is long gone, now it's should be about how to won the trophies now.
