Incredible how distopic their vision of Kaitain is compared to the book one. They never show aerial views of Kaitain in the movie.

Great - wish they had gone with image on the front of the book when the Harkonnen's are landing; in the film the ships lights are not visible.
What is depicted on the acknowledgements page? Is it Bene Gesserit on Giedi Prime?
It's an early concept art of the Wallach IX School of the Bene Gesserit.
This is a beautiful book, and amazing film...but I'm happy I didn't buy this book, I was hoping for more concept art like "The Art of" Star Wars books.

Any way you could tell me what that page about the board game Cheops says? Been interested in that game since the second trailer and was bummed it didn’t appear in the final film.
Turns out it does appear in the film at the very beginning. I just arrived to the theater later!
It says that the Emperor is introduced at the beginning of Part 2 with Princess Irulan playing a board game in a lush outdoor setting.
The game is inspired by the one originally imagined by Frank Herbert. What we see in the movie is Deni's interpretation of it. This intellectual game is played w/ a combination of flat discs and larger chess pieces that they designed.

The original DUNE is underrated, I liked the original cast. This New DUNE Part 2 is a good movie. Looking forward to some Space Wars when they make DUNE Part 3.
I wonder why the release of this book has been delayed. You cannot buy it anywhere currently….

There will be reprints, and at a lower price. It's a waiting game. Same thing happened with the book for Part One.

Thanks for sharing this. Now I know not to buy it. Don't get me wrong, everyone. I loved the movies and these images are gorgeous but I also like process sketches, storyboards, etc in my movie concept art books. This is becoming a rarity.
But you do see concept arts and sketches in this book right?
@@sammm141 I mean rough process sketches that eventually lead to the final, well-polished design. There’s also a lot of filler with on set stuff and stills from this movie.

I love the series of books they produced for Bladerunner 2049; you have the concept art book, the full storyboarding book and then the final Art and Soul of BR2049 with all the movie shots. A fantastic way to show the whole process. It's a shame they didn't do the same with Dune.
Having said that, I've still got this one on order as I love the photography in it.

I wish today’s art books had hardcover and softcover editions. The SW prequel trilogy did that for their books and of course I vacuum packed the hardcover ones and my softcover versions…have seen better days.

Just a common photo book. Nothing special
doubt those who made the book really know what people wants to see. Even you just put bunch of screen shot of sculpting or turntable of the model still will be more interesting than it looks right now. There must be trillions of pre-render image while making this kind of movie but there's none. Those businessmen only greedily milking from fans.

Beautiful art, terrible movie. (Sorry, but I love good cinema and Frank Herbert's novels, and Villeneuve's abysmal films have nothing to do with either.)

@GabiN64 -- Not sure why you'd make that assumption, but I do love me some Marvel comics (and some of the MCU movies, though I've missed several over the years). But I also love sci-fi and cyberpunk -- Herbert, Sturgeon, Vonnegut, Bradbury, Chalker, Ellison, Le Guin, Gibson, Stephenson, Rucker, Butler, Simon Jimenez, et al... and American/English/European/Russian lit -- Twain, Falkner, Hemingway, Walker, Morrison, Pynchon, Atwood, Dickens, Charlotte Bronte, Thomas Mann, Christa Wolf, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, et al.
To be honest, if I'd never read Frank Herbert's Dune novels, I might think the Villeneuve films weren't half bad. But I have read them. Appreciation for literature (any remotely literate art form) is surely an impediment to enjoying DV's overlong, "Dune"-themed music videos. But that's just one man's opinion. Over the course of my adult life, I've seen my compatriots lining up in droves for Rob Schneider and Adam Sandler films -- including many people I love and respect. That doesn't mean I have to share their tastes (or yours).
