  • 6 years ago a guy named Andrew Jones drove across the United States, some 3000 miles, just to share with me his maiden voyage experience on a boat he built by hand. Andrew had no boat building experience but he didn't let that stop him. Thru research, trial and error he came up with this remarkable boat that he later gave away.

The thing about Andrew is he had unwaivering drive to achieve his goalls. As many will remember, he had HUNDEREDS of comments about him building his boat wrong. He didnt even know how he was going to do it but he proved them all wrong one by one! I had the pleasure of cruising his boat and it was just as strong and amazing as he was. Dude was larger than life and a real inspiration. R.I.P Captain Jones

Andrew certainly left his mark on the mini boat community. His build was inspirational for many (myself included) and his build-videos will continue to inspire others even in his passing. RIP dude.

Thank you for sharing this. I really appreciate his vision and agree with his design principles. For me, personally, I understand the "it works, okay?" appeal of just using a petrol motor, but I think designers should be challenging themselves to move away from that. I've only seen them on video, but the serenity of near-silent electric boats just makes so much more sense to me, and it's worth the design headache. And I've just seen one too many oil slicks in my life (Mauritius was the last straw) not to look at petrol with a certain disgust.

How did you create the steering for this sweet boat. I want to do the same style of steering for my dinghy and I can’t figure it out.

hey paul. im 23 and cant drive due to disability. however I've always wanted to have an RV. more and more lately I look at videos of people making bike pulled homes and I want some advice. I want to make something similar to your corrugated plastic home, but I weigh closer to 300lbs and I want it to be a bit bigger. would you recommend I buy a lightweight aluminum trailer as the base or should I make it from scratch? I plan on using an electric trike as I cant ride a normal one due to balance issues
