Much of the world has cicadas of some kind. In the U.S., they go as far north as Wisconsin and New York, and at least as far west as Oklahoma, depending on the brood year. Australia and Siberia even have cicadas. :) Yeah, we definitely would NOT want them actual volume in the game. That would be awful.

At least one more big snapshot for sheep variants! I'm still hoping for desert fox, tropical jungle plants, tree mushrooms, and more ambient sounds! Hopefully the old biome votes will also come in a future update!

Like others have said, maybe the cold sheep would have thicker wool, maybe the warm sheep would have less wool; maybe their skin color would be changed in each variant since that doesn't change with dying them.

These smaller update drops were one of the best decisions they made. They’ve been extremely quick with pumping out new content and it’s all pretty good content
I would love it if we could make a nest or shift right click on the ground to place chicken eggs. It could even make it so that if/when they hatch they have a higher chance of producing a baby.
It would be so cool if they would make the passive mobs able to eat the players crops. It would give them even more life to the game other than just generating food.

They should really add a craftable nest that you can place up to 5 eggs in. They also guarantee a safe spawn of chicklets so you don’t have to throw the eggs and pray. Could also add parrot eggs while you are at it
Wattles looks at temperate chicken “what’s that red thing?” It’s called a Wattle/Woddle. There are a couple other names for it but that’s what I grew up calling it on the farm.
The animal variants just keep getting better & better! The pig warm & cold variants I didn't like at first (they've grown on me but I still prefer the original) the cow variants I liked (even at first) & think all 3 (new & old) are equal. But these chickens, Maan their good I love them all!
One feature I really wanna see with Leaf Litter, is being able to combing them into a full block, called Peat. Peat is a kind of groundcover made up of dead vegetation found in areas of the world that are too cold for the vegetation to decompose. Would look similar to Podzol, but as a full block, that is also flammable, as real life peat is quite flammable (with global warming peat fires are becoming a bit of a hazard) Peat would be naturally generated as part of the ground cover in particularly cold biomes.
I love what they’re doing with the overworld now. And the updates. These are small but big at the same time. Now if only fireflies were everywhere and not the swamp
The cold chickens really remind me of silkie chickens. The new variants thus far have all been based on existing breeds of those same animals so it would make sense. Not sure what the warm chicken is supposed to be though.
So this update is shaping up to be all about variance and ambience: we get cow, chicken and pig variants after already having gotten dog variants in the winter drop, and also grass variants, along with bush swamp variants, with a sprinkle of fireflies. Additionally, we have cactus flowers(sort of a variant to spore blossoms but cacti), dry leaves and the yellow flowers as a variant to the ones in the cherry biomes, falling leaf animations and biome sounds. This is the biggest overworld biome+mobs update since 1.18!

It's not the 'only' breed, but yes. They do lay blue and green eggs. They do not, however, have crested feathers on their heads. They have beards~

I HAVE WANTED SAND GRASS FOR SO LONG!!! Also a butterfly bush, generating in plains and flower forests would be AMAZING!
The cold chickens really remind me of silkie chickens. The new variants thus far have all been based on existing breeds of those same animals so it would make sense. Not sure what the warm chicken is supposed to be though.
I feel like we need new dyes for all the new flowers, like all new flowers starting from the sniffer stuff could TOTALLY have unique dye!
So this update is shaping up to be all about variance and ambience: we get cow, chicken and pig variants after already having gotten dog variants in the winter drop, and also grass variants, along with bush swamp variants, with a sprinkle of fireflies. Additionally, we have cactus flowers(sort of a variant to spore blossoms but cacti), dry leaves and the yellow flowers as a variant to the ones in the cherry biomes, falling leaf animations and biome sounds.
This is the biggest overworld biome+mobs update since 1.18!

11:18 i think this chicken is based on a polish chicken. Poliah chickens are balck, and have hair like that. It just doesn't have white feathers
