When asked to put hands behind his back he refused you can hear the request multiple times over the course of multiple seconds and they literally had to pry his hands behind his back before getting to the point of handcuffing him.
Title 18 sections 241 and 242 of the US Code. Every officer involved needs to be charged. They committed felonies and need to see a federal judge and when found guilty should be doing time in the federal pen.
I suspect you are half right. This will cost the taxpayers money but the bullies with badges are probably in no trouble whatever. Their fellow cops will circle the wagons in their defense out of professional courtesy and the local prosecutor will suck up to the cops by declining to prosecute.

They do it to anyone who has a camera in public space anymore. This is Really Disappointing to see since the Governor in Question is Mike Dewine who is a Respectable Republican. This Reporter will be the Next Ohio Millionaire.
He wasn't being disruptive. And he finished his live broadcast when the Governor went to speak. This arrest protected nothing, and now there will be a number of officers having their jobs questioned over an arrest that didn't need to happen. Not one of those officers showed the slightest amount restraint or thought about how bad this will look in the current media environment. And unfortunately a number of them will pay, but for sure the civilians and citizens of the state of Ohio will pay dearly for it. When someone could have just appreciated he stopped talking when the Governor started. And kept cooler heads.
@@Chris-ku1gz He complied, you can google it. He never resisted, passively or actively. And now the media outlets can continue to run the narrative of police abuse of power. All because an officer couldn't keep his cool, and use discretion. This is another story that erases all the good law enforce does. And it's very likely to affect the careers of a few of those officers, because of a bad arrest, at a terrible time to do so.
Why do they have multiple cops on top of him on the ground face down? I’d like to see the full transpiring of events leading up to this because that seems like an unjustified use of force. You don’t need to be pinning down/on top of someone who’s facedown in the ground to execute an arrest for trespassing. And I don’t believe he was posing any threat or exhibiting non-compliance or aggression to LE as you can damn well bet that’d be reflected in his charges too
In the one cell camera footage when they walked around the door it looked like he was struggling prior to being pinned to the ground. Everything is going to depend on what was said and done. If he was asked to leave and refused trying to use his journalism as an excuse then it shifts the narrative as at that point he was trespassing.
Actually found the full video. Looks like he was asked to leave, tried walking around the cops, then refused to put his hands behind his back. At the point where an officer says put your hands behind your back and you physical refuse to comply you are going to get pinned.
Wow! This is sooo awful, pathetic!!! So many criminals out there, and just focused in this hard working man, just doing what he supposed to do, keep the community informated, I to start to believe the P. lost they mind!!!!
The Governor is doing such a great job for Ohioan and saving them some extra $$$, so the Feelings Enforcement Officers figured out how to spend some of that $$$ by future lawsuit settlement.
This is ridiculous. Does anyone doubt now we are living in a de facto police state? Why do these individual LEO’s believe they can abuse their empowerment under color of law with impunity? Ask yourself? The SCOTUS needs to fix this - it’s called “Qualified Immunity” - It has to go.

Was he asked to leave? If not, the trespass and disorderly conduct charges will be dropped. Hopefully they'll release more details instead of saying it was a misunderstanding between the cops and journalist. What the news anchor doesn't get is this happens regularly to independent journalists who go out and record public officials in the course of their duties.
I’m pretty sure you can’t be trespassed if you have legal ground to be there and as the Governor made clear it’s standard practise for the media to report from there.
This right here is what we had to look forward to. We need to file lawsuits on every single corrupt bad public official so that the insurance companies cancel their policies qualified immunity disappears and this stuff will stop happening
Look up Susan Collins case in May of 2018! I went to jail innocent trying to protect my grand baby’s! There is many more cases! My prayers go out to NewsNation & Evan 🙏
The missing piece here is that a National Guard member triggered all this. The National Guard member got extremely hostile with the reporter then the reporter finished and went to the National Guard member to ask what he did wrong and then bam police were all over the reporter. The National Guard triggered this.
The missing piece is that it looks like he was asked to leave, he tried walking around the officer back towards the conference, at that point multiple cameras were being pointed at him (so disrupting an important conference), and then when told to put his hands behind his back he clearly refused to do it. It doesn't matter if you think an arrest is unjustified, at the stage of being told to put your hands behind your back you do not actively refuse.

@@ScalzoPhoto It's a simple fact, if you are told you are under arrest and to put your hands behind your back...guess what you put your hands behind your back. It doesn't matter if you think it was unjust, you put your hands behind your back. Let me say that again, if an officer says to put your hands behind your back, you put your hands behind your back. It's literally in the law, if you struggle or refuse to do so (by intentionally planting your hands to prevent it) you get any manhandling they do to get you put your hands behind your back. It's clear that they were trying to get him to leave peacefully and he refused. I don't care that he is a reporter, if you are asked to leave for a reason then anything after that is trespassing (and it's clear that he was refusing to leave). Guess what as well, the trooper tried gently guiding him out of the gym and the guys response was get your hands off me. The "journalist" is the one who escalated everything and then they post only the clips that make them look like they are the good guys. They conveniently left out the bit where he tried walking around the officer, and the bits where he was instructed to put his hands behind his back and he refused (which if you go trolling around you can find the video that does show it)
@@notspm9157 The reporter was ASSAULTED physically by the national guard member, FIRST. Why do you leave that part out? That is what escalated it, NOT the reporter... It is sad, when the man in the uniform was the AGGRESSOR and the victim gets physically man handled and removed. The beginning of your statement says it all," even without knowing what happened I can tell you what happened." Wow, you must work for the California psychics lol! You're wasting your talent, you should be selling winning lotto numbers.
Fire and sue ALL OFFICERS INVOLVED!!!
The department better have a good reason for this. Harassing the press there to help your town? Someone gave the call on this and they need to be identified.
Shameful.
"There is no crueler tyranny than that which is perpetuated under the shield of law and in the name of justice!"
~Montesquieu
Sounds like a few cops are about to be unemployed and the city is about to be several million dollars in debt once the lawsuit hits.
Those Police need to be terminated and sued. But the rest of Law Enforcement in Ohio needs to wake up and see how the Governor threw them under the bus.
That's sad I hope he hires a Lawyer, poor guy .
Huge Civil Rights lawsuit should be followed up with this one. Very ridiculous. Law Enforcement in this country seems to hate transparency and being held accountable.
Hold these tyrannical oath breakers accountable for this egregious civil rights violation!
Fire the cops!
The police are obviously out of control. It's amazing that people still back the blue
Because they haven't had one come down on them.....YET. But it will happened to some, of them, as should happened. It's always interesting when they are so shocked, and in disbelief when comes down hard on them. Changes their whole perspective right then and there.
...till it happens to you :-(
Devils in the details though.
Looks like he was asked to leave in the full unclipped footage. He tried also going around the trooper. When asked to put hands behind his back he refused you can hear the request multiple times over the course of multiple seconds and they literally had to pry his hands behind his back before getting to the point of handcuffing him.
@@notspm9157 they have no right to ask him to leave. Clearly a first amendment violation.
@@notspm9157 they solicited a trespass and trespassed him from public....allegedly
It's called POWER TRIP.
The LEO that arrested the reporter used & abused his/her power, hence POWER TRIP.
Title 18 sections 241 and 242 of the US Code. Every officer involved needs to be charged. They committed felonies and need to see a federal judge and when found guilty should be doing time in the federal pen.
This happens all the time to the press📸
The Govenor needs to instruct his Attorney General's office seeks prosecution of the police involved.
I think these "officers" are in big trouble and it's going to cost the taxpayers a bunch of money.
I suspect you are half right. This will cost the taxpayers money but the bullies with badges are probably
in no trouble whatever. Their fellow cops will circle the wagons in their defense out of professional
courtesy and the local prosecutor will suck up to the cops by declining to prosecute.
@@bwtv147 I agree but you too are only partially right. There is nothing "courteous" about their behavior, it's purely disgusting.
@@VisualizeHealing Their "courtesy" is to each other. They hold the public in contempt..
A police state at it's best or worst depending on the myopic behavior.
Wow!!! Sue them
Glad to see that Governor Dewine sided with the reporter and said what the deputies did was wrong. Hopefully, they will be fired and sued.
The gov should have sent a couple of state troopers with a writ to get him out of jail immediately.
So many journalists have been getting arrested and harassed by police in this country
I'M GLAD IT'S BEING REPORTED LIKE THIS, IT WAS APPALLING TREATMENT AGAINST HIM.
THAT OFFICER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE, HE STOOD OVER HIM LIKE IF HE'D JUST COMMITTED AN HEINOUS CRIME FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.
THE DEPUTIES AGGRESSIVE TREATMENT WAS SO UNNECESSARY IN EVERY SENSE.
I'VE SAID THIS EARLIER, BUT I HOPE THESE CHARGES & THIS CASE IS THROWN OUT BEFORE IT EVEN GETS TO COURT, IT'S AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THE LEGAL SYSTEM IF THEY ALLOW THIS TO PROCEED.
I'M AS SHOCKED & APPALLED AS EVERYBODY IS.
MY HEART GOES OUT TO EVAN,
I HOPE HE'S DOING OK. 🙏🏼

When is the news media gonna start standing up for our right to free press.
Just imagine if there had been no cameras. Look at that trooper just standing there watching. These are just thugs with badges.
The footage just gets more and more terrifying the more I see of what happened. This is some bullshit. We need accountability. We need transparency. We need answers. This is not okay.
i met evan, he has interviewed me, is very good at his job. what happened here is police dont know the law themselves to propely uphold. as they say... only in ohio
WHY DID THEY SLAM HIM TO THE GROUND??? WHY NOT JUST SAY "TURN AROUND AND PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK"
They do it to anyone who has a camera in public space anymore.
From the first amendment rights auditors who are arrested in public places for filming cops and government officials, to the independent investigations reporter, and now the actual corporate media…
This is wrong, in every sense and instance…
“Disorderly” is usually translated to, “I had no real reason to arrest”.
This is probably one of those cases where you can say back the blue until it happens to you!
That’s exactly right, people are back the blue until it’s THEIR rights that are violated!
Further proof that *it could happen to anyone, at any time. We could all be the next victim of these badge-wearing criminals.*
They fukked up!
Listen, those animals do that to citizen journalists all day every day. I'm glad a mainstream media guy can experience it to report it. Also, don't forget to sue the hell outta the arresting officers under a 42USC1983 lawsuit. File today!
"Freedom "
This is Really Disappointing to see since the Governor in Question is Mike Dewine who is a Respectable Republican. This Reporter will be the Next Ohio Millionaire.
Goes to show that politics don't matter
Prime example of out of control LE.
Law enforcement have been using "criminal trespass and disorderly" too often when they get upset with someone.
The only time a reporter may be arrested for reporting is when that reporter violates a court order whilst doing so.
@@Chris-ku1gz did he do something interruptive? Doesn't seem like it, but perhaps there's something we don't yet know.
It’s called the constitution …
Transparency baby gotta love it good or bad
Happens all the time to citizens. Glad the police don’t discriminate and are showing their true colors.
This is abuse of power.
Yes from the reporter because he didn't comply to a State Trooper and talked over a US governor 🙄
@@kathrinedressal but they’re still gunna say it’s cause he looks like he’s 1/16th black
Gov. Mike should have went to the police station and told them to release the reporter
Unlawful arrest kidnapping Unlawful confinement
This is ridiculous. Does anyone doubt now we are living in a de facto police state? Why do these individual LEO’s believe they can abuse their empowerment under color of law with impunity? Ask yourself? The SCOTUS needs to fix this - it’s called “Qualified Immunity” - It has to go.
“When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves, in the course of time, a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.” - Frederic Bastiat
I still don't understand why he's being held overnight. Their county is soon going to know what it means to be broke.

The law enforcement in and around here has just exposed this bustling metropolis to what could be a substantial US Code violation...We will have to see how significant the reporter's legal response gets ...
It make’s perfect sense if you assign a proper motive to this assault and kidnapping
It does make sense There's a lot to the story that they don't want the people to know OPEN YOUR EYES IT'S IN FRONT OF YOU
Well, now you see what the rest of us go through. Can’t believe you think media is immune from police corruption. Welcome to America guys. Hope this opens at least one of your eyes.
Lawsuit!!
not shocking it happens all the time to independent reporters
I hope they fire these cops doing your job, don’t cut it no more Who the hell you think you are? Make sure file a lawsuit against these cops too take everything what they have today
I’m sure all the charges will be dropped and he’ll be getting a nice gift basket delivered, too!
This right here is what we had to look forward to. We need to file lawsuits on every single corrupt bad public official so that the insurance companies cancel their policies qualified immunity disappears and this stuff will stop happening
Back the blue until it happens to you.
Look up Susan Collins case in May of 2018! I went to jail innocent trying to protect my grand baby’s! There is many more cases! My prayers go out to NewsNation & Evan 🙏
So what does the Sheriff, Police Chief and Head of the Highway Patrol have to say?
The missing piece here is that a National Guard member triggered all this. The National Guard member got extremely hostile with the reporter then the reporter finished and went to the National Guard member to ask what he did wrong and then bam police were all over the reporter. The National Guard triggered this.
Where is the proof of this? None of that was mentioned in this report.
@@notspm9157 What? The low quality deputies caused the disturbance, THAT is what caused the cameras to film them.
These deputies would never be employed at a high quality law enforcement agency, look at them the female deputy has PINK handcuffs, completely immature. The male deputy looks like a weak twig that drinks mountain dew and plays videos games All day. Yet for some reason notspm9257 defends these low standards deputies?
What is the point of "back the blue" if the standards are low.
High standards are not anti-police
The reporter was trying to explain that.
They have a similar attitude, like you notspm, to "worship government" and they immediately side with the man in a uniform.
It is sad, when the man in the uniform was the AGGRESSOR and the victim gets physically man handled and removed.
I understand your point, but it is based on law enforcement acting like animals instead of using intelligence and de-escalation skills.
Perhaps we are not going to agree, based on our different point of view.
Newsnation - please don’t let this unconstitutional action go. Pursue charges against all involved and hold them accountable, otherwise, these types of illegal incidents will continue unabated.
