- In this tutorial, step by step guide is explained for migrating Kaspersky Security Center (administration Server). I have used Windows 2012 R2 as old and Server 2019 as new server.

I have followed this video and it displays "Generic db error. 3201 cannot open backup device." it have a problem connecting with the database because the instance is different. how do i fix that?

i have tried the same procedure but after waiting few seconds at SCM.... it gives me error " Database servers are incompatible" though i have tried from 2008R2 to 2008R2 (32bit) OS version from old 2012R2 new 2019. and also tried with latest SQL version on the new machine. still it gives me same error of database servers are incompatible. i am tired on KSC 14.

Plz review the system requirements and verify if you database version and OS version are as per the requirements along with update version and service packs

As I stated, check the system requirements.
What happens with the SQL database? is it possible to change the instance name? Apparently it is no longer the same if it is migrated

Instance name can be changed, depends what are you trying to do. You can have central db or you may have db on same servers as Kaspersky Security Center.
what if i install a new server, create policies etc on new server and on old server just change the administration server and point it to new the server, will it work ?

Yes, it will work. But you have to do all efforts. To avoid, restore the database and create change administration server task. That will help you to get all settings and new server.

Please review system requirements for supported OS for the version you are trying to install. Migration from one OS to another OS is possible in general
hi, is it the same version of the softwarer? can we upgrade a version 10 to 12 from a host to another? or should we upgrade the version from 10 top 12 then migrate the version 12 to a new server with the same version?

Please note either migrate and upgrade. But you should first migrate to same version then upgrade. Else upgrade and migrate. But version 10 sp1 should be there.

I use disk encryption on my old server, will I have a problem when I migrate to the new server?

Migration won't require any spc steps.. just make sure the connection parameters remains same (IP address/ Domain name) n backup n restore..
Upgrade on clients will require additional steps of decryption ( if FDE)

Hi,
I opened a case for this issue. Support team advised me to update from version 12.2 to version 13.2 after decrypting all agents.
Actually, I'll be migrating to server 2019 with the same features, same hostname and ip. Decryption seemed unnecessary to me.

Yes, you can migrate. Better use Server 2012 R2 at least

Rather 2008 express install 2014 or 2017 express both are free with limit of 10 gb of database size limit
