I don’t like how the fandom be wanting Kim and shego to be together knowing that Kim is a teenager and shego is a grown woman and they still do it till this day
Agreed. I came across a lot of fanfictions of those two and it's a bit weird. If Shego was the same age as Kim, I wouldn't mind it at all; but the fact that she's not and she's a full grown adult and Kim was a teenager, that's problematic.
I blame the whole popularization of enemies-to-lovers trope tbh, not only the age gap but also people think that enemies=romantic EVEN if a show itself claims it's not possible.
Yeah that's something I did as a baby gay (I was a kid when this was still coming out with new eps), but adults doing it is horrifying. It's not even just a questionable ship, it's more than just creepy too
I got into the ship when I was 13, so I was too young to understand why they're toxic, but I liked the idea of them being lovers even though they were enemies. That's the unfortunate appeal
Shego is a grown though young, superpowered, martial arts expert who STILL always loses to a normal teenager whose fighting skills are taken from cheerleading routines. yeah Shego is kind of losing LOL
This is a children's cartoon. Shego would literally end Kim if she ever hit her with her powers. Deep down Shego likes Kim and enjoys fighting with her, and one could argue that she does not hit her with her glowing hands on purpose.
I also never got why people shipped Kigo except for shallow reasons. Like, y'all do realize that Shego is a grown woman while Kim is a teenager, right? Second, they're more like enemies. Not all enemy and heroes ships have to be romantic.
Shego was a cool character for me growing up, however, I feel like she deserved better, I feel like Disney didn't give her much development. As I grew older, I realized that most of Disney's characters don't have great representation, or good development. Disney tried making her look like someone cool to look up to. (To me at least) Thanks for addressing all these points, it really needed to be said Also I feel like we all connect better with side characters which is why character development for side characters is extremely important
How did Disney try and make Shego someone to look up to? I never got that vibe. She was definitely supposed to be a cool character and they fleshed her out pretty decently when they told us about how she got her powers and her relationship with her brothers but I don't think she was supposed to be a role model or even admirable.
@@sugarpearl9781 I totally understand your point, but I mean that as a kid growing up, I thought she was pretty cool and I wanted to be like her, I didn't understand the kind of person she was, not until I grew up at least

Its so problematic the kim and shego ships, yeah it does suck because they have no defining features that make them vastly aged by character design, so people who didn't watch the show ship them, and aren't knowledgeable of their ages. But I do say if they are making fanart they should by then know the characters ages at least.
This is one of the reasons people shouldn't be as harsh about OC shipping. Yes, I know, I roll my eyes too sometimes. There's a good chance the OC will just be super awkward, the chemistry won't be there, and in general creating a great character with an interesting personality and fantastic design is really hard, but if you're just not into the main ships for a certain character, or there are no real options canonically, or you want an LGBTQ+ ship that otherwise would a bit concerning because of some power dynamic problems, it's sometimes better to create a new character to fill in the gap (and I'm the kind of person who hardcore tries to shove canon characters together in 90% of all ships instead of inventing OCs.) While I don't think people should necessarily be shamed for just doing their own thing, since it's ALSO entirely possible to age up a teenage character into an adult for shipping purposes and not every age gap is an issue (as long as they're both adults,) a lot of the push back against Mary Sues has really contributed to this IMHO. Also the insistence creative teams have on making the main characters and their friends into teenagers, when they don't have to be that young, is why we're so often put into this conundrum. I mean, yes, in animation there's obviously reasons why, the target audience tends to be in that demographic or younger, but there are plenty of shows that would be just as good with college age characters. YMMV on that especially since shipping wars are frequently a problem in all fandoms and people can sometimes get so uptight even about chastely shipping child characters (without the intent to introduce anything hardcore, just good sweet vibes between loving kiddos.) lol sorry for the rant. I just wanted to get this off my chest because this seems to be an on-going trend without any definite answers. I just felt like throwing me 2 cents in. 😅😊

I love it when people are honest about how the characters they enjoy are losers and failures. No, seriously! You have to understand a character to truly appreciate them and wearing rose-colored glasses isn't it lol. Also, that's how you end up sympathizing with them. Would people love Jesse, James, and Meowth from Team Rocket if they were successful most of the time? NO! I mean, we probably wouldn't hate them but we wouldn't love them nearly as much because they try so hard but they're screw-ups and the people they're usually in conflict with are going to win. Sometimes ya just enjoy rooting for a lovable disaster! Because that's what makes them more human. And for real, most villains would be annoying as sh it if you knew them as real people lol. That's definitely important to keep in mind! The reason you LIKE these jerks is because you know them well enough to feel like they could be a friend or they're just so entertaining from a distance... otherwise you'd be less accepting of their antics and tell them to get out of your face. This is why I really hate the way some fans when deciding to re-orient the camera on their nasty faves forget that these people have serious behavior issues and tend to be anti-social; you don't need to sanitize them or excuse what they do. Explain it? Maybe. Wash them clean of all their sins? HELL NAH! Don't scrub the failures off either although you can be proud whenever they don't f'ck up and help them stand up after they fall down. So thank you for this video! I actually never really watched Kim Possible back in the day for some reason (it just never clicked with me and I was in a phase of my young adult life where I wasn't watching as many cartoons as when I was a kid and now that I'm older and streaming exists) but this has stood out to me for a long time with the way people regard villains from all over the place. I think some of it is because of how LGBTQA+ traits used to only ever appear in villains and very few protagonists were female and/or other ethnicities too, so finding someone to root for that felt closer to your heart was harder even when it came to side characters, let alone the hero, but things are changing slowly for the better in that regard. Now I feel like people are constantly taking that attitude to just every character indiscriminately and they think they have to excuse the character and apologize for them or wipe them clean before they can be appreciated since it implies bad taste or perhaps that they themselves are morally reprehensible (which isn't necessarily true but we all have our bad side and things we've done in the past that we may regret doing now.) Anyway, sorry to ramble! Have a good one!

The hatred that harryiana has for attractive females is very profound and pretty concerning. She only bashes the prettiest characters in these cartoons and then tries to gaslight the fans who like them as "only liking them because they are pretty". Shego is literally one of the best female villians in cartoon history, and shes one of the best examples of a positive "feminist" character. Shes "strong and independent" without losing her femineity. She took no crap from any man on that show, she constantly shaded draken and when he over step his boundaries she put him in his place. There was one episode where Draken's cousin Motor Ed was making grossly sexist comments to Shego and she almost deleted him and she read him for filth. Shego is no where near a "girlfailiure" (these bs terms that you wokes come up with are getting more and more lame). In the A Stitch In Time trilogy, it was proven that Shego is the most powerful and competent villain in that universe, and if she really wanted to she could take over the world. The thing is Shego doesnt WANT to be the most powerful villian. She is perfectly fine with being a henchman, and that doesnt make her "weak" for not wanting anything further. If Shego really wanted to be a more successful villain, she would have ditched Draken years ago due to the fact that he always fails. She stayed with him bc she actually likes him., which is proven on the last episode of the show. Feminists claim to uplift and support all women, but shes constantly dragging the best looking female characters on these show and is literally bashing one of the most unproblematic female cartoon characters. Just because a woman does not fit you mold of what a ""girlboss" (who even still uses this term???) does not make her a failure. Her not wanting to climb the corporate latter of evil, doesnt make her a failiure, shes getting the bag and is comfortable in her skin and position. This just like bashing someone for not applying for a managerial position even though they are capable. There's a lot of stress that comes with higher positions and people are entitled to their peace. The term "girlboss" is corny and outdated and its extremely subjective. One might say that a grown woman that makes videos about made up problems in 20 year old cartoons is a failure. But again, this is subjective Ive notice this trend that Harryiana has for dragging pretty girls in shows, from Totally Spies to PowerPuff girls. She literally said that we only like TS because the show was cute, which is complete BS. We liked the show because of the cool gadgets and the fact that teenage girls were spies and beating up grown men. And then she made this comment stating that shes "tired of these mean girls" making PPG edits and that "they didnt even understand the show". GIrl, everyone watched the PPG in when we were young, regardless of social status or gender. IT was the same thing with a Azula, "we only liked her bc shes pretty" blah blah blah. Not all pretty girls are just mean with no substance, that's a stereotype that is put on women by people that had bad experiences with a few of them in high school. Them being pretty is a small factor into why they are liked, Shego was cool with a great sense of humor and Azula was a very complex and well written character. Honestly i think that Harryiana is projecting her feeling that she has on people into these cartoons, and this is way for her to vent her feelings without obviously coming off as a hater, but i see right through it. So many nerds have this victim mentality that stems from high school, when in fact a lot of the nerds are actually the most toxic people on this earth. Being pretty will only get you but so far, if you are a bad person on the inside you will end up all alone in the long run. Look what happened to Azula. If you feel the need to constantly bring down attractive females you have a deep rooted hatred, and girls need to watch out for girls like Harryiana, they are nice to your face but really hate you just off of looks. Its not pretty girls fault that you are not content with yourself.
You typed an entire essay to be loud and wrong. You are projecting so much and its honestly sad. Shego is not a girl boss. While yes Shego is beautiful and a strong woman. She was getting her ass handed to her by a 16 yo with ZERO powers. Shego could have ended Kim and her whole family with one flame but for some reason her powers magically stop working then and there? Also, you can like a character AND accept criticism about said character btw.

There's a lot of stress that comes with higher positions and people are entitled to their peace. The term "girlboss" is corny and outdated and its extremely subjective. One might say that a grown woman that makes videos about made up problems in 20 year old cartoons is a failure. But again, this is subjective
Ive notice this trend that Harryiana has for dragging pretty girls in shows, from Totally Spies to PowerPuff girls.
