The voice acting is kinda hammy in my opinion, but the atmosphere, dialogue, and soundtrack blend to make this, not exactly a nightmare but not exactly a pleasant dream-like atmosphere.
Best story in the entire Silent Hill series!!! Based on betrayal, actual human reactions and genuinely an emotional backing of a man coming to terms with his crime.... If only the movies recreated this story!
@@dickrichardjohnson6931 I never played The Silent Hill Videogame Series but I have seen the Movie Versions of it Silent Hill 2 has the best intro we need more Videogames with intros like this.
Hollywood would SURE fuck the story SO BAD that we would have nightmares about wishing the corruption of a story and atmosphere that could not be replicated in a movie.
The first film was originally gonna be about Silent Hill 2 but the director thought the town should have an origin before making that film so that’s why the first film is like an origin story for the town somewhat. The reason he didn’t go through with the sequel was because of the negative reviews of the first one and Silent Hill Revalations was made by someone else which is why it’s a bad sequel. Supposedly the original director wants to make the Silent Hill 2 film but that’s just rumors
I love how in the sentence "The name of the envelope said... Mary" he takes a short pause to pronounce "Mary", showing that only remembering his wife hurts him. This game may have questionable voice acting but some lines are very emotional, at least for me.
I thought Angela’s voice acting when referring to the trauma James unintentionally provoked in her was so brutal to hear. In fact much of the voice acting has a lot of subtle nuance to its delivery.
The game doesn't waste ANY time. No introduction of who this man is, no unnecessary flashbacks, just immediately starting on his journey and establishing his motivations.
Because It dosent try to expand on the lore but has its own unique tale. Which makes it great for newcomers as well who don't want to play the first game. They can just jump into silent hill 2.@@fowreeeeeeeel
The atmosphere and music , mixed with all the design and elements. After long time this game still captivating all my attention. I feel it in my stomach as soon as I listen the music again... in one second took me to silent hill ...
In case anyone like me wonder why does James run his hands over his face like that, apparently it’s a lucid dream technique people use to see if they are awake or not. So James is trying to see if he’s dreaming or not by looking in that mirror.
Great job with this upload. This is one of the higher quality uploads of this scene which is great as I wanted to use it as part of project for school, so thanks!
You actually aren’t far from where the background image here was taken. It was taken at Derwentwater in the Lake District, North of England- the town you see in the distance that is supposed to be Silent Hill is actually the town of Keswick.
I am addicted to this place, Silent Hill since 20 years, even if there is no new content related to Silent Hill I am going back to this place every year since 20 years. What a place, I will never forget it.
One of my favorite games of all time. My only regret is that I had the "twist" spoiled for me years a few years before I actually played through it. I often wonder what my experience with it would have been like had it not been in the context of knowing the spoiler.
The line when she say " You promised " you'd take me there has this very subtle and sad like the way the voice actor delivers it like she have gone thru this problem before it feels so real everytime i played it the voice is just soo genuine feeling we can feel it too

@@thesourstation636 Understandable though. If you didn’t grow up with them, it’s extremely unintuitive to pick up. @@KitFoxboy thanks for that. I'm thinking that I'm ready to try to take my time and learn the controls now. It's definitely gonna feel unnatural at first but hey, maybe that'll make for some comedic/interesting moments.
I think it’s also called “Promise” but I could be wrong. It’s also not in the available soundtrack, it’s only in the game sadly. They have a similar version in the actual soundtrack but it’s not ‘this’ exact acoustic version. Sad.
"Mary could you really be in this town? " - proceeds to spaz out on the movement controls
Well if she is, he's too drunk to find out. 🤣
the controls are drunk, not James.
Right??? I like to think James is still drunk to make sense of the awful controls
