  • The concert performed by Elton John and his band at New York City's A&R Studios on 11-17-70 was made into a live album and released in the United States simply titled "11-17-70". Not all tracks were used in the album and Country Comfort is a missing track from the evening's show.

I too commemorate this day by wearing my 11-17-70 t-shirt (that I made from the album cover) and playing the ALBUM. I loved EJ when he was writing some of the most beautiful music on this planet. I wish he would start again!

I like this a bit better than the album version also! Never heard it before.Been an Elton fan for a long time- I was there at MSG (my first concert) when John Lennon came onstage to sing "Whatever Gets You through the Night"

    44 years ago tonight....
used to hear this tune all the time on my local NY Top 40 station back then....
and yet it was apparently never released as a single...... (scratches head)

i love that he performed a Rod Stewart track. Rod and him used to play together in Long John Baldry's band, so they were friends. Baldry also used to swap records with a guy named Paul McCartney from up north.
Thanks for posting this vid :)

Yes, it's N&D. The rhythm section on the album, especially "Sixty Years On", is amazing!

@musicguy1987 Um ... Country Comfort is an Elton John tune. Rod Stewart's version is a cover.

They should have used this! Elton sounds great! I HATE the mix on the remastered CD, with all that stupid echo from Gus Dudgeon. I wish I had a copy with the original US mix. Anyway, thanks for the upload!

For the life of me, why wasn't this video recorded? I would kill to see this live concert

Who's on backing? Nigel Olsson and Dee Murray? Those two were the unsung (sorry) heroes of Elton John's success. Think of all the soaring backing vocals on Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Those two kicked Elton out and did all the backing vocals.
Incidentally, this version lacks the instrumental break, either steel guitar or regular guitar.

    Nigel and Dee, yes.
