oh man, you were not kidding when you said you'd react to them in a onesie next time, and that's glorious. there's a short video of byul wearing multiple animal onesies that is beyond adorable. if i could even remember what it was called or where i saw it, i'd dig it up... but do remember segments being used in tweets or various crack videos... hopefully another commenter will know where to find it, as my google-fu is obviously lacking i know you mentioned hearing about her photography in another video, but yeah... she's a big tech geek, loves gadgets and someone gave her a camera a while back and she just fell in love with it (and shooting videos).she's actually gotten extremely good as a photographer and some of the photos they use in promotions were actually her work. i absolutely adore how they managed to incorporate that into this video byul likes to do things for the fans on her birthday, though they're most often based around seoul. this past birthday, she held a 3 part celebration, the first two were seoul-only, including a display in a photo gallery both of her work and work of other artists that photographed her. this song is the third part of that gift, since she took a page from hwasa, who releases a song for the fans on her birthday every year, though hwasa's are usually covers as for byul's singing... she originally trained to be a vocalist, but wound up getting teamed up with three exceptionally talented vocalists in mamamoo... like, each one is a once in a lifetime voice... and while byul is also a fantastic singer, especially early on, she was just kind of outclassed by the other three. so, her agency suggested she become a rapper, instead (according to her story in 'idol drama operation team', it was not a polite suggestion...). because of that and because she constantly tried to compare herself to the other three, she lost all confidence in her vocal abilities... even as the others constantly tried to get her to sing with them. i'm so glad that she's finally regaining that confidence, because we've all been missing out on such a beautiful voice the forcing her to rap thing is one of the few things rbw has done that actually gets me angry, but at the same time, i have to acknowledge that we got one of the top rappers in 3rd gen kpop out of it, esp considering she had no clue how to rap when she was told to learn. (as an aside, solar and hwasa helped her learn)
I think having her as a rapper was a smart decision in terms of the sound of the group tbh. I really dislike that she was forced into it, but her voice works so well for it. She doesn't seem to have the belting power that everyone else has, which puts her in an awkward spot since everyone else in the group does. Her voice really works well for ballads like this with the super light and breathy head voice. I do think that if she worked really heavily with a vocal coach she could learn to belt like the others, but I've yet to hear her belt anything (if she does somewhere I'd appreciate a link).
moonbyul actually likes a lot of the more 'boyish' things... she prefers suits or just pants to dresses or skirts, she loves baseball caps, she prefers being called 'handsome' over 'pretty'... quite a few people try to use this to say 'she's gay', but that doesn't have to be the case. she just likes what she likes, and she dislikes traditional gender roles, which includes what people should wear in one of her concert solos, she wanted to pay homage to traditional korean music and dress, but she insisted on wearing male hanbok instead of female because, while she wanted to honor the traditions, she still wanted to wear what she's comfortable with, what's generally classified as menswear. and man did she look fantastic in it i do suggest the concert solo stages get added to your ever-expanding list, btw. the solo stages get longer and longer each year, though, so be aware. last year's 4 seasons f/w stages were about 20 minutes long each. before that, they had the moosical concert, moosical: curtain call as the second and 4 seasons s/s (spring/summer) as the third. and solar had a solo concert and guested each of the other members on different nights (editing because i left the 'b' out of 'hanbok'. she dressed in traditional clothing, not like a traditional house. oops)
