Sounds like the Dad who grounded his daughter needs a lesson on communication. His daughter was wrong for causing a scene (but I wouldn’t have grounded her.) However she only did so because there was a misunderstanding of what was going on. I would have assumed the gf was being rude too.

She was rude for point ing out the fact that she was coming across as rude to the wait staff, but then he jumps on her about coming across as rude to his gf. Totally agree about the rude, entitled wait staff. Every time I go to a restaurant, they have the nerve to ask me if I'm ready to order! Shouldn't they know this, and what I want...they are SERVANTS!!! And the absolute worst, they always, always, expect ME to pay! The nerve of some people! Don't ground your daughter, that's far too lenient. Put her up for adoption NOW! She's only going to get worse as she gets older. Your 17 years younger girlfriend will appreciate having the brats room for the kid she's going to have with someone her age. You have your whole life ahead of you. Im of the opposite opinion, she is 12, whether she knew the difference between good manners or not, she should not have yelled and caused a commotion in the store. She should have talked to her dad about it afterwards. I would not have grounded her for why she did it, but specifically for how she did it. And make sure to inform her that when someone does something wrong, it can still be wrong to confront them poorly. Also, the dad is right about how she should learn that people are taught to do things different and that doesn't mean they are wrong, just different. If she were to go to a place outside of america, tipping might be considered rude and i have personally seen some people get kicked out for insisting (thankfully ive only seen that twice, but ive also seen a waiter leave the store to return money left on the table on a few occasions. I feel bad for the waiter who has to go locate them, but i cant help but giggle every time ive seen it)

OK the story with the father and daughter. If your girlfriend is so insecure she can’t order at a restaurant, then you know what that was a bad place for a first meeting. The 12-year-old doesn’t know about your girlfriends problem. All she saw which anybody else in the restaurant would see is it this woman is acting like it’s beneath her to talk to the staff. You should’ve ground her you should’ve explained it to her., You also should’ve told all this to your daughter a head of time. And she’s right she couldn’t ask for the fork when the bus boy was there. I think before you get mad at your daughter, you should realize that this woman has some serious issues. And not only is your daughter going to notice it but anybody and everybody you go around with, I’m sure the people at the restaurant notices it. Maybe you guys should skip restaurants!

I worked at a grocery store for years that rhymes with Droger. I hated the grazers. Sorry, but I have too many other things to do than worry about your ability to make a free meal out of samples. And no, I know you're not going to actually buy the product. The worst was when I was in their cheese department. We were supposed to do samples yes (the stuff was spendy so you should know what you're getting) but there were regulars that started calling us the "sample department".
There might be a day where we're short staffed and I could prepare any samples. People would come up: "Oh, the sample department isn't open today?" "Sorry no, but the cheese shop is. If there's anything you're looking for, let me know and I can make suggestions." I did actually say that a couple times. Probably not smart, but it felt good.

The father who grounded his daughter who commented in public, on how the father's girlfriend wouldn't talk to waiters.
For me, he is in the wrong in how he dealt with his daughter. The way he described his girlfriend, and the reason why she doesn't want to talk to waiters. Makes me think she has a form of "Karen-ism", it may not be the "I want to see your n manager" (not yet at least). But I see her, as someone who sees herself as above them or better then them (whichever way you want to call it). And maybe even beyond waiters, that she sees herself at the top and the rest of us below her.
To the daughter.... "You called it right kid. You keep calling out any form of Karen-ism you come across".

Why would there be a rule against a phlebotomist being able to wear a face mask for performing a blood draw? (obviously pre-Corona) This is just really bugging me, so I’m hoping someone who reads comments and works in this field may know. All I can come up with is that the company wouldn’t want them to be seen as sick, or want them to seem as reassuring/human as possible to help people relax when getting blood drawn? Or is it a cost concern; like how many boxes of latex gloves they must go through? Or is it a cross-contamination issue? I’m really curious.
Edit: obviously the people running this place won’t speak for legitimate labs given the story, I’m just wondering if there were any theoretically logical reason to deny face protection to workers in a medical field?

The dad in the restaurant was wrong. Even if the gf has a reason it doesn't mean her actions aren't rude. Why are they in a restaurant anyway without explaining the gf issues? Does the gf have trouble talking with all people or just waitstaff? If it's just the waitstaff it kinda shows your gf is entitled and thinks they aren't people. What traumatic incident could have occurred that she can't even say thank you? You could go to self serve restaurants if you don't want to be waited on. Did she even give them nods and smiles of acknowledgement?
