    From the time of 7:00, it can be seen that the inc scale does not show zero but about 2/8 inc at a measured size of 0, while the mm scale does! Carelessness of the drawing maker.

    A bit optimistic about precision of a vernier caliper. Unless you are in a temperature controlled toolroom, I don't rely on a vernier caliper measuring better than 0.1 mm.

    But your scale is wrong, 4inch shud be nearer to 100mm

    The illustration shows incorrect metric/imperial proportions on the main scale and wrong type and zero placement of the vernier scale on the inch side. Quarter inch negative zero error to begin with lol Don't try measuring in inches with these typical import quality calipers and instructions!
