My take from this; 1) No excuse to fail. Persistence always pay off. That's needed to become an outlier 2) Mentors are important. 3) We need to develop a burning desire to learn. 4) There is no unattainable dream. Dare to dream big.
Being a medical doctor.. and bring Something for my country for the Glory of God is my dream..i will not give Up. Thank for Sharing your Story. God bless you!
Congratulations my sister! My 15 yo son also dreamt of becoming a neurosurgeon when he was still in primary school after being inspired by Ben Carson’s story in his “Gifted Hands” book. You should meet him one day too, he walked that path many years ago. Komera cyane turakwishimiye!
Wow, She is not only a Neurosurgeon but incredibly good looking too, my sister thank you for inspiring story of achievement. Good for you and your country. Be proud, i am proud to have come across your story. What story, one in the million. Gosh!!!
Claire you are a great lady. I have read about you and hope to meet you. I am a Rwandese nephrologist also also a first nephrologist practicing in Rwanda. We still need many people like you who take personal initiative to make a difference in our country in many fields of medicine. Rwandans will one day be proud to have people like you. One day we shall have people in our health system who value skills.
Congratulations mam, I'm an MBBS student from India and I want to become a neurosurgeon, and make this world a better place ! And i would love to meet you mam n I hope maybe i can assist you in a surgery someday !
Thank you so much ma'am. God bless you. We need more trained specialist in Africa, and that is extremely clear. I am a South African medical student and I feel insecure when I think about European or American qualifications, but you gave me all the reason to believe that I can be the same and still come back home.
Africa needs more of you. More power to you and to those who are defying every obstacle in developing countries and achieving their goals. God bless you
This exceptional!!!! I really like it Claire please come home n inspire more of you then go back to Canada 'Cause rwanda is desperately in need of that light. Thanks so much

Great talk. It's extremely difficult to be an outlier. But the key is having your dream in mind and being persistent and having grit to work your way through difficulties and challenges that lie ahead. Congratulations and I am proud of you

A dream pusher indeed. Nigeria has been training neurosurgeons for almost over 20 years, and the training is led by first class neurosurgeons. The lady could possibly have secured a space for residency rather than waiting for many years pushing. She is definitely a great ambassador of Ruwanda.
