I am not a guy listening to the show I am a woman almost 70 years old, but I read this book wild at heart more than once when I was in my 40s ! as a woman it changed my life.spirit of God all over that book .even as a child in an alcoholic home in a small Montana town where my father was a logging truck driver when season allowed I was taught to be a certain way because women don’t do this or that …in my generation I wasn’t allowed to do many of the things the boys were allowed to do. I never could understand why I couldn’t be wild at heart, the lively inquisitive friendly girl I was & still a woman,Feminine and beautiful & smart .seems to me this message ,crosses many lines as far as gender healing and I just thank you John Eldredge for your contribution in healing not only men’s lives but womens hearts as well…for your sensitivity to the spirit of God and reflecting and how he really did create us to be like him and all these ways. Thanks Chris always for having great guests and for being the man that you are as well. Blessings to all !

I would be interested in knowing what John’s take is, on MGTOW, the men’s Red Pill movement, and the current “Manosphere” community.
Definitley anti-biblical. Focus on ego and self. As Ben Shapiro says, (Red Pill - Manosphere) has the right diagnoses of today's problem of masculinity but offers the wrong prescription of medicine to the answer.
Quit Iiving in the cultures narrative- live in Gods narrative!

That needs wisdom now. Okay. First, I see the sincere attempt to position in a moderate way and I appreciate it. Truly. Doubtlessly. Bless you.
And so I only give you some questions to ponder about. Only spiritual food. Sometimes we must step back to see the whole picture. Lets say: I add the Ezer keneg'do perspective.
First of all:
If you use Jesus as a role model for men, you automatically exclude women. If you claim Jesus' whole being as a masculine ideal, theres nothing, like nothing left for women. Christlikeness therefore is totally closed for...women. Thats toxic, guys. Isnt it? There's something not quite compatible with the gospel, even not with Paul's teachings. Its proclaiming such a superior role that we automatically run into Genesis 3,16. Now, the point is: This is a curse, as we all know. Oh, that fall of mankind, how I long to be back in Eden! But wait, wait. Its a CURSE, spoken by God, that men rule over women, not the godly order of the beginning! And its Jesus who paid it all, how Ortega sings and we all declare. So, when it comes to restoration ( and I do believe in restoration indeed), then, the main issue with the teachings is the missing ...eye level of women.
Chavvah, the hebrew name of Eve, it has three meanings: The life giver ( we know that one), but furthermore: The giver of meaning, and- the speaker. Indeed its women who bring conflicts on the table often "Hun, we must talk", meaning: Theres a disbalance. Indeed its women who have a deep sense of the "for", who see what is needed to make life worth living, who fill that space in a beautiful way! But. Because of the supposed lower position its devalued. As chattiness, as being complicated, as being ..oh, with a grin, too much or dominating. Well. But what if it is both dearly needed, in a symbiotic way? Not in a somehow we come along way, men right, women left? What about the relational in between sphere, in which something new and wonderful is created out of two complementary elements? Only giving food to ponder about.
See, what if..the message, the hope, the beauty, the capacity of emotional intelligence, all of it, has a deeper meaning than flowers on the table and decorating the advents wreath? What if women carry an equal part of God instead of being the weaker, the more complicated, the more fear driven ones? Not superior to men, dont get me wrong, Oh, no. But on eye level, and as iron sharpens iron women sharpen men and the other way around? Thats not in your teachings at all, as you know. Furthermore, I'd appreciate if you would use examples like: "Rather the gym than the confrontation with his wife conc supporting her profession instead of her anxiety disorder. We are not a total failure, guys, who are beautiful to be perceived. We are not as weak as we are declared to be by Aquin and Aristoteles. We earn respect and value for sure. Thats the main topic of the "toxic masculinity" debate, not the question whether men shall be more like William Wallace or Shakespeare.
Its a beautiful picture to take the emotional intelligence, the empathy, the wisdom, the knowledge, the perception, the experiences, the skills and the deep inner sense of meaning, beauty, values, work-life-balance, simplicity, awareness, tenderness, care, justice, digging deep and revealing of women, to honor it, to think about it, and to fight for it. We can fight FOR and AGAINST. (Romans 8, 38 ff) God...is FOR us. He puts all His longing and striving and love to fight FOR us. FOR rescue, FOR value, FOR salvation, FOR healing.
We are image bearers...
therefore- what if the godly perspective on life and gospel women carry meet Jesus' essence, his heart? As his actions, outward experience, ways to offer strength, confrontation and mercy meet....men?
Balance is only possible when men realize that without it, women staying in an oppressed position, slightly devalued, declared as "awkwardly feminine"- men become so progressive and hardened, overshooting the goal, so exponential expanding without borders, that the whole system collaps in distress and disbalance. And this relates not only to relationships and marriages, but generally for communities and societies, social networks etc.
And it makes me almost cry in awe- its another level, John. Another dimension of: We have to get the heart back. Dont you see it? Its another, wider perspective and dimension of Ezer kenegd'o, the help of God, the complementary counterpart. It doesnt deny your teachings, John. Its setting it in higher principles. And commands equality.
Lets be honest: How amazing is it to see a curse of God written in the very beginning working out over the whole world and ANY society for generations? Second: What does it touch within you if he NOW lifts the curse and brings back into balance the weight and worth of men and women, saying: Nope, guys, thats the curse. You dont serve the curse. You are a new creation, not in the bloodline of Adam anymore? Doesnt that sound like...bringing all ruling under HIS feet? Doesnt it smell like early summer, friend????? it does, be honest. It should be not threatening, but the most hopeful place to be in.
To cut it short- its not the gender role in itself that does harm or is toxic, I totally agree with you. Theres a feminine and a masculine heart, I agree. Men must hear that they have what it takes, even bringing the trash out only, I agree. Women long to hear that what they offer is beautiful, yes, John. We want to be seen, yes, John. Its only the relational disbalance. Again, its the AND. The bridge. The gate.
Because Jesus is in the intermediate sphere of relation. Where one or two... As long as women are not truly seen in their equal worth, dudes, as long as men think they are to rule over women, there will be domestic violence and degraduation and depression from being "shown their place to submit to". Is there a true longing to do things right? To heal? I hope so. I hope so. I always will do. Wanna meet you one day there, John Eldredge. Because of the good seeds I see. Bless you.
