- Reviewing the most influential car of the decade... I also reviewed the facelifted version as well.
Cliff notes, styling is gorgeous, interior holds up pretty well, interior space is cavernous, quality is just ok, technology is very good still, sad to say no 4G connection so no RUclips or Netflix while you wait to charge. The charger only goes up to 100 KW/HR so not too fast, but many chargers still only charge up to 150 KW/HR so not a huge miss. Acceleration is still a forte and is still very quick.
Used ones are going at a great price, problem is still range if you do a lot of road trips and don't want to spend a lot of time waiting around for the battery to recharge. Even if you optimize and only charge when the battery is at its optimum percentage for charge and is preconditioned.
Hard to beat for the looks, acceleration and eco friendliness, but know many other cars in the price range that drive subjectively better.

ts.la/derrick7...
No RUclips is not because of the 4G connection, it’s because of the MCU1. All cars built after June 2015 have 4G and no RUclips.
The 2015 S85D does use the front video camera to read lane lines!
My 2015 85D has 4g (built in Aug) and I still don't get youtube. It has to do with the old MCU.
0-60 in 4.2 (updated)
My draggy shows mine does it on 4 flate

Thank you so much for your review!! Does it worth it to buy it as a second hand in 2021?
Pros and Cons? Thank you so much!!
Secondhand in my honest opinion is the best way to buy cars. It’s a little tougher for electric cars to evaluate wear and tear but get a good pre purchase inspection and check for all wear components like brakes, range on the car versus initial estimate of range, all the underbody suspension components etc. in 2021 used cars are expensive so the market isn’t great for buyers though so if you can wait I’d wait until chip shortages are of the past and you can get some fair deals.
@@DerrickMoy Thank you so much mate!! :)
I bought a 2015 S85D from Tesla in April 2019, with 12,004 miles. It was a returned 3 year lease and felt like a brand new car. At that time, it came with a 4 year/50,000 mile warranty starting from my delivery date, free supercharging and free premium connectivity. 19” wheels, Technology Upgrade with Autopilot 1.0, all heated seats, premium sound system with subwoofer, and panoramic sunroof. Best part was the price, about 60% of the sticker price. I LOVE it.
Great video. So just to verify all 2015 Model S can’t get Spotify and RUclips on the dash?
They have Spotify but not RUclips
Derrick Moy Right on. Thank you for the quick response 🙏🏼
yes it is true but there is another way to getting those things in your 2015, you can buy teslas infotainment system upgrade, i know its a good amount for $2,500 but in another point of view you are basically turning your tesla into a 2020 tesla with the upgraded infotainment system (faster loading times faster screen, more responsive while enabling youtube, netflix and other things through tesla theater that the new teslas have
@@MattR32 It’s now $1,500 for the Infotainment upgrade, so even better
@@KareemSandy its lower now too eh? thats great
Great review.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
It was a little odd that the voiceover was discussing the steering wheel while the video with showing the backseat.
Jacob P I hope I don’t get coronas watching this☠️☠️☠️
is there some way around not having youtube like mirroring your phone or connecting your phone to the tesla to play youtube? because not having youtube is a big thing for me because id want to watch youtube while charging to pass time.
Not that I know of. If your car doesn't have RUclips built in I don't believe it will be able to play it in anyway. I haven't looked up being able to mirror your phone. My assumption would be even if it was able to do this there would be lag in audio and probably wouldn't be worth it.
You can try using the web browser.
@@DerrickMoy i actually did a little research myself and i found out that you can buy your old tesla model s a new infotainment system straight from tesla for $2,500 plus tax, honeslty thats a great deal considering they are changing the whole computer to the new teslas computer and it makes the touch screen faster and more responsive while enabling youtube, netflix and other things through tesla theater, honestly good job to tesla because in my eyes you can buy a cheap model s and transform it into basically a 2020 model s for only $2,500. thank you for the fast response and a lot of people might want to know the same thing as i did so if you want you can mention it if you ever come across another older tesla model s
@@MattR32 actual upgrade cost is $1,500 without FM radio. Add $500 for FM & XM satellite radio (needs subscription). Now the support Tidal which allows you to download music to the car in case you are driving in the middle and there is no LTE reception. BTW, it also uogades 3G teslas to LTE.
How much did you pay for it?
It's not his
As of now. The value is 30k if u want a 2022/2023 one like 90-160 (160 cuz plaid) but of not then depends on the seller
