People think you split wood no big deal, have had that happen more than once, definitely gets your attention, glad no one got seriously hurt, be safe
Sam, glad you weren't hurt. Don't stand down range anymore.
Don, might be time to pin down the wedges. Back to the fabrication table
Wow, that thing did explode off there! Glade Sam and you are ok! Could have been a lot worse! Great splitting Action Don!
nice video. i've just have a 27 ton single wedge craftsman. i like the lift and table on your splitter. i use my little John Deere and bucket to move mine around. works ok, but a lift and table would be nice. that exploding round got my attention. i have some maple that has some limbs taken off and it moans and groans and pops when it comes to one of those but never exploded jumped that way. Thanks for showing. glad no one was hurt. stay safe
Sheib your the mechanic wizard you'll get it sorted great looking woodyard tell Sam no pain no gain ha ha
Good to see the "handler" again. Hi Sam. Good vid boys. Cheers.
Good one Scheib!! Len (Devon 🇬🇧)
I am surprised the splitter is not held down somehow. That it nuts!
Remember Sam, Chick's dig scars, LOL
Glad it was not worse.
That’s is some great 6 way action ! Nice catch Scheib 😂😂😂
That was crazy! Glad no one was hurt! Another reason I like the design of my All Wood splitter, it takes a little longer to change but no way the wedge is hopping off like that. Definitely a great clip to make a short out of!
I noticed no safety glasses were worn. That could have been worse if a piece came flying up and hit one of you in the eye. Hope Sam is ok I bet he will be sore for a couple of days. I wear prescription safety glasses all the time and saved my eyes a few times.
Dam! That could taken some teeth out guys, Great catch and great come back from Sam!, A Double F U!😂 Take Care,🚜🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Nice job fellas! Sam you can take a heck of a punch! Lol 👍
The size of those pieces are just as I like ‘em, that six way was perfect, even with the explosion. Woodyard looking good, empty, but good. Chris
hi there well done . didn't dan have a problem with the head coming off also john
Whoa there! That was downright exciting! Sorry Sam got hit, but it definitely could have been worse.
Best to shoot for the jewels, the folks at Funniest Home Videos seem to thrive on that stuff🤦🏻♂️🤣
Bless’ns to ya, Tedd
Snap crackle POP! Wow that was crazy. That six way definitely is a time saver. One push👍👍
place is looking good, love the oak...
That was some good looking red oak.
The 6-way wedge looked like the old Rock'em Sock'em robot boxers when the head popped off.
Wow. That wedge and wood explosion was amazing.
I like your new video this was really cool video good jpp you guys did a good on this friwood good job buddy 🍺🍺
Glad you enjoyed it
Hell of a set up!
Thanks
Nice catch💪💪
Had many explosions over the years. Be safe my friend.
Idk why this is so satisfying to watch! Nice work
Whoever owns that wood spliter needs to fix it so the 6 way can't jump off like that. Someone could been seriously hurt. No job is so important that we can't do our job safely. Needs to be red tag until fix. Have a great day be safe.
Wow that was dangerous! Good thing it didn't catch Sam in the face!
I’ve had more than a few rounds explode like that on my Wolfe Ridge. It’s always on a knot or twisted section of trunk. Maple is notorious for it but oak crotches build energy like that also.
this was a first for me i have had them pop but not explode like that.
@@OutsidewithScheib my best guess is that part of it may be that your 4 way is free floating. At least for me it’s usually the chunks that go over the 4 way that go flying since my 4way is pinned. Just a guess though, might unpin it and see if I get the same result
Folks don't realize all the ways a splitter can mess you up. That happened so fast there was no way to know it was coming. Glad it wasn't much worse. Have a beer! 🍺
At least it was his shoulder and not below the belt.
That's a good 30 minutes of work! Even with the shoulder situation it was very efficient. I personally have founs ash to be the most explosive wood whils splitting.
I don't have the 6 way for my splitter don't even like using the 4 way but that wood looked to nice for boiler wood. 🏴👍🤘 Do u sharpen or get your knives sharpened on splitter or doing anything to them?
I heard you tried to split a new type of wood species: "dynamite wood".
Suggestion:
Send Chris (In The Woodyard) a whole cord of that stuff to split, it might wake up his viewers with something new. Thereafter, he'd be wearing a shirt that says:
---cut
---buck
---split/explode
---pile
---repeat
Close call, I thought it hit his face at first. I found a picture of you in a google search and I put it in my oak tree ID species video
I had some wood that kept exploding like that, so I put my full cage hockey helmet on!
If I can lift it... ain't no need to split it. I usually split a year ahead so its fairly dry by the time I use it.
Looking at the 6 way wedge, the lower part of the X appears to be welded on incorrectly. The result is the wood passing through lifts the wedge as the attack angle is reversed...
Damn Schieb
At least turn around and pet the dog for a second.
Dogs are better people than most people
I had that happened to me when my buddy and me were splitting and it split my forehead opened pretty good I was sore for about a week after that..
Red oak is known to pop like that. Got hit with a few pieces in the past.
Hey Chuck, it gets real pretty quickly. It’s only funny when JPF takes it in the jewels😬🤣
Bless’ns to ya, Tedd
Haha, you’re so bad Saw Surgeon 🤣🤣🤣
@@colleensfarmadventures4176 : Oops, did I type that out loud? 🤭😉
Hi Scheib, that was explosive. Did that because the round/knot is really dry?
It looks like Sam should be feeding more logs when it gets down to the last one instead of throwing logs. Looks like there was too much down time in between logs. That is if you want to make the best of your time.
There's a shot of the pile near the end of the video. Should of moved the machine back a few feet and let the machine push the wood off the end of the table into a pile. What was the purpose of all that tearing and tossing?
Just habit
looking good Scheib, def think Sam's yard is coming along, just a question about the 6 way, I saw on a few logs the 6 way needed to go higher on the fixed single wedge to center on the log, but instead you lowered it so the top of the 6 way was flush with the fixed single wedge, was that for stability to nothing got damaged?
I hope Sam is Okay.
Glad nobody got seriously hurt. Why don't you use the next round to push the previous pieces out of the wedge rather than pulling every split out of the wedge?
Just habit I guess
I can understand that. I do a lot of things out of habit that aren't necessarily the most efficient, but work for me.
Poor Sam, he’s always getting hurt!!🤪 But seriously glad it didn’t get you guys worse!!
I dont use my 6 way much, what size rounds do it work on best?? Hope Sams ok. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Turn up the pressure? So it totally takes Sam out?
Curious to see what you end up adjusting it to, I’ve played with mine a bunch even with a gauge, and got it pretty good but still find that once the oil gets nice and warm it doesn’t want to kick back every time for some reason
We shall see
BOOM SMASH CRACK .LOOK OUT SAM, watch them fings
Can you carve a bear out of a giant log, have a stack freshly cut? Or know anyone that could do it? I’m looking atleast 10 to 12 foot tall, 5 foot diameter
How many cords do you sell at your roadside stand per year
Last year it was roughly 11 cord
That's a good amount
Ha! Thumbs down button, twice. I got it. 🤣
Haywire design
Yeah it’s kind of my design but it works great 99% of the time.
At 4:41, Schieb mistook that log for a Miller Lite can.🪵🪵🇺🇸🇺🇸🪓🪓🍻🍻🍻🍻🪵🪵🇺🇸🪓🪓🍻🪵
