    It'd be worth it to get you some cones, maybe a men working slow down sign. Way to many people looking at cell phones these days. At the minimum you need to wear some bright safety colors being on the berm like that, from 100 feet back you blend right into the forest in those dark cloths.

    Beautiful load, looks like white oak on video. White oak has a very distinct scent when cut, smells good to me. Chestnut oak has very distinct leaves with serrated edges unlike the other oaks. Sometimes you can tell just from what is laying around the ground from last year, and sometimes that just cornfuses everything. :)
    On another note......... I smoked for not quite 40 years, really enjoyed it. If I was nagged about it, I lit up another just to say I'll do what I want! :) Yet I always knew it was trying to kill me and had that daily battle in my brain the whole time of I need to quit and maybe I will........ after this next pack. I guess once I got old and feeble enough to really feel my lungs shriveling up I managed to work up the willpower to finally quit for good. (The patch worked for me) All I can say is the difference you will FEEL every day is gonna be worth it, not even considering the long term benefits. Plus it's kinda nice to have a few extra bucks in the pocket to spend on something else. I am not going to minimize what a royal pain in the brain it is to actually do it, but the end result is absolutely worth it. I am no Karen when it comes to smoking even as an ex-smoker(sometimes those are the worst!)....... smoke em if ya got em. You're a likeable dude, so I give you my heartfelt encouragement because it WILL be better for YOU.

    Well done Scheib, another very entertaining video. Got to say I like your style! Why not take your trailer down, with the Gator. You can then buck, noodle and load the ‘big, bad boy’ straight on to the Gator, taking all of the rounds down to the truck. If you are going to carry on with road-side maybe look for a wheeled skid-loader to carry the heavy wood to your truck. In any event would be nice to see episode 2 as soon as. Keep up the good work. Interesting. Here in NY, the property owner pays taxes on property to the center of the road, giving the owner rights title and interest on all included assets, including them trees. For trees and other obstacles within the right of way, the state, county or township managing the right of way has the authority to remove trees like this. They will generally set the trees back to the edge of the right of way for the land owner to remove or will take them away but in no case arbitrarily give them away. Anyone roadside logging could find themselves handcuffed to a barbedwire fence for the afternoon.

    • @OutsidewithScheib
      @OutsidewithScheib  2 месяца назад

      Here the state owns the highway with a 15' buffer on each side.

    • @danaschmidt4417
      @danaschmidt4417 2 месяца назад +2

      Yup, Same here in Ohio as Russ said for NY. your viewers better know the law before they just start taking trees. Here right of ways are 20 from center on rural roads and state are 30' from center, but that is not ownership, it's only a right of way for traffic and road maintenance. If the road is abandoned the land reverts to the property owner. Right of ways are not ownership. after watching I would bet the butt log was off the 15' state land and on private. Fifteen feet is 10 rounds at 16", more than that and you may well be on private. Also is that 15' counted from road center or edge....everyone better know the law as I said. As a forest landowner, I would have issues with someone cutting up my high dollar white oak log. NOt trying to be a smart arse, just suggesting everyone knows for sure it's ok to take road side trees. At least ask the landowner. I came back after asking for legal opinion on this and was told the landowner retains all property rights on those trees in almost every state. The only people who can freely remove them are government officials and workers maintaining the roadway. So take at your own risk is what I say....

    I do the same thing for free firewood. Every year we get blowdowns along the side of the roads. Many times, the township just pushes them off to the side. As long as it is on easmemt property, it's basically no man's land, so I grab it. I'll leave it alone if it's in someone's front yard, but if it's like the one in your video, I come back with the chainsaw.
    Get yourself a cant hook, some l9g tongs, and a hookaroon. Makes it easy to move the rounds.
