Mr. Joe is a real jewel. He is an old school "can do" kind of guy who doesn't shy away from big jobs. He knows the only way to get them done is to dig in and do it. I really admire his work ethic. God bless you, Joe! You are a winner. 👍
😮 wow that is a little more rude than you needed to be. Jason does a great job and Joe is definitely a great guy as well. Everyone who appears on this channel is respectful.
@@lesterawilson3 here is just a thought, if you have a problem watching, don't ! It's that easy 🤔
@@lesterawilson3, wings, tail and engines are not new.
Yes totally agree! He is Awesome!
Joe that is
Mr Jason plans may change but when the time comes when that beautiful 401 is pulled onto the runway for takeoff you can look back at all the good memories of rebuilding her and all the good people met and friends you made alone the way and be proud of the goals you achieved.
Couldn't agree more! Glad to have amazing supporters like you here for every step of the way! Thank you for watching!!

Joe knows his stuff. Very fortunate to have him. Well thought we were going to see paint job. But, guess next time. Thanks for sharing!
Can't wait to see this plane in the air! I've been confident since day one that you'll accomplish this. Great job Jason and team! And Joe is an amazing friend and employee!
Thank you for believing in the 401 Brandon ! It's good to see you here again, I hope you enjoyed the episode !
Hey Jason, when you get that pilot's certificate, consider it, as my instructor said, "a license to learn"! It was indeed true. I couldn't believe how much I didn't know once I actually began flying my own airplane.
The amount of work being done to the 401 is astounding. The quality of the work you are all doing is also amazing. Your pursuit of making something so pristine speaks volumes to the level of detail, hard work, and commitment you all have to the cause. You are all appreciated and supported by your viewers. Keep up the great work!
this guys a millionaire and people send him money, he should run for congress
Thank you so much, we truly appreciate your support and dedication to the 401. We won't let you down👍🏻
Joe is the BOMB!!! That man does some big time work! Looking really good, and I bet you are all getting excited seeing this old bird starting to come together! Give Joe a raise!
How much fun it is to see the 401 finally being built together again. I hope that you will also include a video for us “sparky’s” on the avionics work that will be done on the 401. As an avionics engineer, it always excites me to install new avionics. Take care guys and can’t wait to see the next video!
"We're gonna fix an engine and take off!!"
Ten.Thousand.Years.Later
*plane is down to it's bare frame "And in one more week we'll get that engine fixed!!"
its just amazing how not only are you rebuilding this old aircraft but at the same time you got the old owner a revived sense of passion and purpose for this project that he lost 20 yrs ago
I love what you have done with this whole project, Screw all the haters!
That cradle under the fuselage needs cross beams between the set of wheels for it to be sturdy
Kinda what I was thinking
Please reinforce it asap.
Hi again from the UK. It's so great to see the progress you have made! I can see how dedicated you are and I can't wait to see the new paint scheme. I really think you are going to see your dream come true and you will bee flying the 401 into Oshkosh. Congratulations on passing your written Jason. All the best.
Thank you for watching and supporting Andy, none of this would be possible without the support of amazing viewers like you
Hats off to Sir Joe, for his dedication, and hard work
It’s incredible. Seems like only yesterday we were trying to get her started. Look where we are now. New videos can’t come soon enough. The excitement is in the air (pun intended). What a wonderful team.
Thank you Steve for your encouragement and positivity! We are lucky to have you apart of this journey
Great work! It might be a good idea to run a brace or two between the bases of the left and right supports to prevent them from flexing in or out when it is being rolled.
Yes, you must do this!
Man Joe is a good guy to have on you’re Team. Hard-working good at what he does and you can trust him.
I'm calling this plane Rescue One from now on. It just feels right.
You need a stretcher between those supports. Lot of torque on those stands
Yes.
I remember watching the first ever episodes. Its been a long journey, i cant wait to see it fly! I am really excited, Good luck Rebuild Rescue!
That means the world to us, thank you for being a day one supporter ! We are so glad you're apart of the Rescue Crew, thank you for everything !
Respect to guys who can do welding. I am glad he's getting his teeth fixed too 😄 Cheers from Denmark
Watching Joe is watching an artist at work. 💪 🎨
Maybe think about putting a brace across the bottom of the 401 carriage. I'd hat to see it get pushed sideways and legs fold and it hits the deck.
Yep! Asap.
Guys. Add triangle bracing on the bottom to keep the two sides stable. No splits! :)
Yep!
Y'all continue to have our greatest respect for how you are tackling this project. If something is worth doing, it is worth doing right, even if it takes more time and effort than originally thought. Great job everyone!
We appreciate your overwhelming support Keith, thank you for allowing us to do what we love
Sincere Congratulations on earning the wings! Takes guts to put the time and energy into that outside of the 401 restoration and running a business.
Thank you very much !
Hey Jason, im glad to see You and the team are human and have set-backs like everyone. it makes the story so much more interesting and believable, as I said before and will say again, awesome job and I’m enjoying the process..
I cant wait till that 401 hits the sky well done Jason and the team for getting this far and im really excited to see what colour it is 👍
Thank you for your support, she'll be flying very soon!!
WOW I would put a couple cross members on bottom of main fuselage carriage. To stop them from spreading
Much as I love Jimmy's world right now you guy's are knocking it out of the park!
The 401 is coming along nicely Jason. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the base color is going to be white? LOL Can't wait to see her in all her glory with her new paint job soaring in the clouds. Gonna be EPIC! #401FOREVER
I'm glad y'all are getting paint on that bird!! Mr Joe is kicking but and making stuff happen!! Y'all have done an amazing job!! I'm waiting for the next video!!
Thanks so much for watching Eric !
I am messaging you from my native island of Cyprus. What an awesome and refreshing project this has been from the very beginning. The whole team is pulling together towards the finish line. Thank you so much guys, every weekend it's a step closer to the 401 getting to the skies. Am absolutely sure you, the whole team will nail it. Its been a lot of work, but, oh man, "Phoenix" will help so many people and will do it in real style. Hooked, can't wait. Awesome. Full stop.
Thank you so much for the overwhelming support, we wouldn't be here without you guys ❤️
Γεια σου άρχοντα! 🙂
Good old Joe with his endless heap of patience!👍 worth his weight in gold for the project. Nice progress again guys, thanks for the episode! Best regards from holland; Arjan
Your crew is killing it! This is going to be the most immaculate GA aircraft ever. Impressive work
Love to see it getting to paint, you should put a few braces from caster to caster that run under the plane, I know you want to keep it open but that’s a lot of stress on that one inch square tubing coming down from the wing spars especially when you spin the fuselage.
Please add cross bracing asap.
I love watching the work on the 401. When you talk about little setbacks, it reminds me of something my dad said to me... "If you don't have time to do right, now, when do you think you'll have time to do it over."
most of the 'setbacks' could have been avoided had the plane been properly inspected at the beginning.
@@buckmurdock2500 yep, I said that from the start.
Painting the door jamb first is like building a house and putting the carpet down as soon as the slab is poured. The framers, roofer, plumbers, electricians, drywall crew, finish carpenters, painters will all have to trample on the carpet so by the time the house is finished, carpet is trashed. The door jamb will be trash before the plane is finished. That's why manufacturers paint last. Doing things out of order makes more work and delays as these videos continue to demonstrate.
@@buckmurdock2500, yep get the anti corrosion and airframe repairs done and get the wiring and interior done, then paint. Isn’t it going by road for interior and avionics? Like you say, it’s gonna be ruined.
Love you and the crew! MUCH RESPECT TO YOU ALL!
Thank you !
Very nice progress on the 401 there Jason. Its really coming along nicely. Theres an old saying, if the plan don't work, change the plan. After everything is all said and done and you see the plane taxiing out onrto the runway for the first time for its test flight, then you will realize all the struggles and challenges were well worth it.
100%
Jason you and the team are doing a great job keep up the great work your doing on the 401 well done guys.
Hey guys, I can’t wait each week for the vids to be posted. Show us around the hanger a bit! Would love to see the layout and what els is stored in there. It looks HUGE
Great progress Jason and Joe! If I might suggest a couple of cross braces might be an idea for the stand now that it has wheels and is mobile? I'd hate to think of the thing collapsing sideways. In other words connect the left and right hand sides of the stand together where the wheels are, and then diagonally too, what do you think? It just struck me as looking a little bit flimsy when you moved it. Best wishes with the project, I've been following since the first episode!
I was thinking same it only needs a bar you can pin to each side for tension or compression, one for and aft best
Yeah, you gotta do this!
Guys like Joe are a treasure. Congrats on passing your written!
Jason, it is amazing how far y’all have come in a year! Can’t wait to see the new paint and eventually seeing the 401 fly again. Just take one step at a time and get it done right.
Thank you for your positivity Johnathan, glad you're here with us on this journey 👍🏻
Love it when a plan comes together. Onwards and Upwards
Thanks for stopping by the channel Dennis 👍🏻
Hi Jason and Joe, another great video. You really are a great teacher even though you don't know it. Problem-solving and taking us through the process of the creation is priceless. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Linda, we are so glad you think so !
I like the way you talk to volunteers who are working with you. You are compassionate, kind and are complimentary. about their work. Great fan of you confident, never give up approach. Verbalize you emotions about the written. Chris from Thailand, retired Airline pilot, 26500 flying hours. Got the experience T shirt. Thanks for your videos, Well done.
Thank you for your constant support Chris, it's a pleasure to have you here apart of the Rescue Crew
Good day. I accidentally witnessed the restoration of this aircraft ✈️ and became your fan, although I don’t speak English, but for some reason Jason’s energy allows you to understand all the work without knowing the language. I live on a distant island. Sakhalin and I really envy you that you can do such a favorite thing. I would love to work with you...
Спасибо ❤️ We are so happy to have you here on the channel
That Joe is a savage as my sons would say, can’t stop him. Can’t wait to see the paint job you decided on.
Jason - get the shop a few of those re-usable plastic click-on spray triggers. They're cheap and they really help you lay on a good, consistent coat when you're shooting anything!
Watching the ice shield removal reminds me of when I used to crew Saab 340B's across to Tasmania. I had a passenger jump in fright when ice hit the fuselage. I said "don't worry it's only ice" to which the passenger said "that's what the captain of the Titanic said".. LOL.
@@lesterawilson3 Rex in Australia still fly them.
So much more work to be done. Such a huge project.
I think it's going to take 2 years from where you are now unless you have teams that can work fay and night 24/7
This plane is going to be looking so sleek and sexy when its all done.
Great job Joe and Jason!!!! One step and one day at a time. Keep up the great work Jason!!!
Thank you Adam, good to see you here again!
Man what a project can’t wait to see it evolve back into a new airplane good you have all stuck with it.
The fruits of your labors are about to shine
a little trick to applying bonderite is scuff the whole surface up with sheets of scotchbrite and it allows it to penetrate into the metal and give it a good protective layer, also if your doing it in awkward areas place some paper towel's onto the surface and apply it to the towel and it'll stick to the metal
You cannot do a proper job quickly, very good to see that you are taking your time and doing it well Jason and team. Thanks for the insight into your project.
I’m sad now cause it is over can’t wait to see what you chose for the paint
Joe is the man everyone wishes they had when a job whether big or small needs done. Great fabrication Joe. 👍 Ronnie
Nice work on that cradle! Can't wait to see the paint job, looking forward to the coming weeks.
You and me both! Stay tuned Brother 👍🏻
Thanks god someone mentioned the gusstes!. Those wheels were sliding all over in that bracket.
Nice , also you should put in some cross bracing from the left side to right side plane cradle. To keep it from swaying from side to side
Yeah, it could fold any minute. Scary. Brace it with diagonals.
Hi there! What a committed crew you got Jason! It’s amazing how adapt to the changes and there in no stone in the road that could stop you. Hope to see soon the 401 in the air!
I couldn't ask for a better team ! Thank you for being apart of it !
Looking forward to the completion of your project soon 👍
I'm not entirely sure if this makes me want to repaint my Cessna 150 more, or less... Keep up the great work and congrats on the written.
Well worth the wait for this new update about Paint, Priming the 401 and Sam coming back to help keep the Wings in the Air ~ You guys are Great again ! Thanks again to Jason and Joe Craftyman for a superb operations photo finish ~
Nice to see the edging taking place ! One thing that concerns me is on the cradle. IMHO some cross bracing between the two sides should be considered . Front and back movements have been covered but not the "side to side" . For a comparison inspect the landing gear on a semi trailer. I would rather be over built than under built in this scenario. Keep up the great work on the Wichita born 401! KUDOS
Yeah, you gotta add diagonal bracing.
Hey!!! Congratulations on passing your knowledge test!!!🎉
I was wondering when you were going to get that done.
Just don’t wait as long to call for a DPE!
Well done 🏁
Another great segment, thanks guys 👍🏾❤️
Glad you enjoyed it Thomas !
I am so impressed by the determination to do this right despite all the set backs, obstacles and unexpected disappointments and the great amount of tedious hard work involved. What a massive project this has turned out to be, but no give up in these guys!
Thank you for your positivity !
Expenses for this "free" airplane is quickly adding up.
Oh man!!! I didn't see you get a water break free surface before you applied the alodine!!!
Love it can't wait to see you guys putting all the paint on it. You guys are doing a great job keep it up like I know you will.
It's going to be so amazing, thanks for supporting us throughout this journey ❤️
Some day maybe in the sky - we all hope🎉
Not only do you have to make sure everything is done right before painting, it is important that you do attend to the "quality of life" issues inside the hanger. That will make getting this done correctly easier to accomplish and HOPEFULLY quicker.
Must feel great to see some color on the 401!
If I was you I would put some diagonal brace on the frame that you are using to move the 401 around the shop. I have seen that setup collapse to many times.
Looking good Jason👍Joe you’re one hell of a guy.Bet your one good friend to have. You and Jason are the A team.
Fantastic work and plans change but in the end it’s gonna look gorgeous going down the runway and flying into the sky looking great, can’t wait to see it all painted and being put back together. Thanks for the video take care

On today's episode of rebuild rescue we build a swing set for Sam! 😂 Good work Guys, coming along nicely!
I use to own a line-x shop and we always had to use etching primer on all aluminum for the product to stick....it is a tricky process
I wonder how many businesses Jason owns? He seams like a ocd type of guy. But the work his team does is about perfection. But i am sure Jason doesn't want another visit from the FAA either. Have a great week. Love from the big sky state of Montana.
Jason once told me that the youtube gig was to make his way into cutting back. I just laughed at him.

You could have just welded the caster plate right to the square tubing. Time saved. 2 weeks instead of 6.
@@eagle2019 I've done it before in my shop when building a cart. Saves the time of cutting and drilling those brackets. The only benefit to having those brackets, is that you can remove the casters later if you wish.
Hi Jason - I really enjoy your videos, but I can't believe I've just seen you use AEROSOL primer on a plane. So non OEM that it's probably criminal. Good luck.
