Please consider excavating your (building your) berm as soon as possible. Rain and snow melt (on fall warm and cool days) will run where gravity takes them, you need to divert the water from the building site. Once the berm is in, gravel, french, and natural drains will not be required, since you;ve provided a clear path for the water to flow around your building site. Additionally, it will eliminate ice forming on driveways and walkways to the boiler and tiny house power center. Love the journey, thanks for taking me along. FYI: Wild flowers and day lilies hold berms in place beautifully, and makes bees happy!
Agreed! This should be a priority!
I am blown away about how valuable the mini excavator and tractor have become to get this project done you, made a great choice in equipment. Am also finding it fascinating in the amount of layers you had to put down for a base for the boiler, it all makes sense now after watching this video. Take care of that back, sending healing vibes your way, God Bless

I also wanted to commend you and Ken's Karpentry on the cross-over to build your tiny house. I watch both channels and appreciate the effort to do the cross-over both as youtube channels, but also in the tiny house build process. Well done!
Yes, you need to cut a swail around your tiny home to direct water away from it. Sometimes creating a burm traps water & gets washed away. Al you & Gina have come SO far! Nice job!
Al, I know you are so thankful for all your equipment choices my favorite is that little compactor. I'm excited about about Ken and you working together.
I like watching farmers, etc grease their equipment because it reminds me where all the grease points are.
For all the work you did to get the place for your boiler, prayers are with you that you don't have to move it.
You should take some of those rocks and form a small cottage type garden area to grow herbs and flowers near the tiny house. Is so cool watching how all this is coming together. Peace and blessings to you and your family. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💕👩🏻🌾

Looking great Al, I seen the builder working on your material for the tiny house, and I never realize that OSB had a shelf life until I watched several videos on it. Ken’s Karpentry is really cranking up those videos for your new Tiny house. Just remember don’t over do your back because it can take weeks to heal up.
OSB? I wouldn't give you 10 cents for a sheet of OSB. If it ever gets wet it falls apart. You have no idea how many floors and roof decks I've replaced because of spilled pops and leaking shingles. A can of Pepsi will melt a hole right through that stuff. I've actually had to repair the holes.
@@rickster9993 Yeah, the people before us build a garage and put OSB up for all the walls and some of it is powder at the bottom because of the rain moisture rotting through it. They didn't paint it and they didn't put tar paper behind it. The whole lower foot section above the concrete blocks is powder. it has cedar siding and that is what is holding it together. If you bump it it crumbles.
Your equipment skills are really getting better. I had my doubts when you first got the excavator but that’s all in the past. Looking good!
Guys I am loving the way you do things. So looking forward to the tiny house build which I have been following over on Kens channel.
You need to put in a rain gauge at the OGP to compare rainfall amounts between there and the current homestead.

Funny shadow lady! Did the foot stomp grate at front door fill up with water? You do such nice work on the grade. Thanks for sharing
The outdoor boiler is a great buy. My friend lives in the country and has a boiler heating his house and large garage. His heating costs are very low because he works for a logging company and gets his wood at very low cost. Since you have so much bush around you finding good quality fire wood is going to be easy and not cost you much.
Just the work up front to harvest the trees and get them into pieces small enough to go into the wood boiler. Plus, seasoning them for about a year.
You guys sure have the hook ups when you need help. That confirms for us what great people you must be to have such friends who are willing to lend words of advice and a helping hand. You guys take your time. Some of us live with hefty spine illness in our “golden years.” You need to be good to your back, Al.
I've only been watching for a few years (since clearing and building the driveway to where the barn/garage/workshop is). It is great to see your confidence and skill improving on every video. You and Gina's can do attitude is very inspiring.
Wow! Things are really moving
An outside boiler wow! We looked into one to heat our garage and house. We gave up quick. Our house burns through 16 cords of wood and the garage between 5-6 depending on what kind of projects we need to do in there. We were told for our size of heating needed the outside boilers would not make much of a difference. We would still have to go heat at night. It's looking great! Congrats on 300k
Can you say FREE TESLA ELECTRIC ENERGY?
@@jono1941 We have very cheap electric bills here thankfully. Hydro Electric and wind turbine energy. Even though we don't have wind turbines yet the hydro company has been paying the owners here for over 20 years every year to possibly have some on our mountain range. Pays for almost all our electric.
If he keeps the distance down to under 50 ft and insulates well, the heat loss will be nil. There's really no good reason to go more because you can always raise the chimney a bit to diffuse any smoke condition. Of course placement down wind of the house is a good idea too.
@@HerEcolife That's great!
@@StoneKathryn The world has Free Tesla wireless electric power now. God wants all windmills, solar panels, etc removed from HIS planet Earth. What don’t you understand about this. Get to know God before you GO ANY FARTHER. MAY GOD BLESS YOU. Please wake up to the fact that solar panels and boilers are a complete waste of money when you can heat with FREE Tesla wireless energy.!!!! WAKE UP!!!!
A lot of fun what a great video. You never stop and it is wonderful to see. Please take care of yourself and your home. Thank you so much
Looking forward to seeing the outside boiler put in. Have friends in West Va. that heat their big Victorian house with it and it works great. I know y'all will be toasty warm. Have a Blessed weekend everyone.
Hey AL have you ever considered using your bucket to raise your tracks off the ground to take the pressure off of them, once the track is off the ground you can swivel your track to the position that you need,I see other home steaders do it with their excavators all the time. That way it saves a lot of wear and tear on all of the rollers and the tracks.
An excellent suggestion! ruclips.net/video/tU3AijTTgJ4/видео.html

It is good that you gave credit to your father-in-law for telling you an easy way to correct that track. Many others might have just not mentioned that their father-in-law said how to correct the track.
I was down for quite a while with back issues. The best thing to get me going was a $15 foam roller. I use it every day now just to keep everything stretched. Best investment of my life.

I know the rocks are a pain to deal with but to me they seem like a blessing in disguise. I love the stone fences , use them as features, maybe with your views on the property a mini castle turret in the woods- could double as a deer stand , around your pond, so many possibilities 🙂
Being a diesel and equipment tech for 35 years they can still through us a curve every now and then, Those tracks can be a stinker sometimes especially on a high track sked steer. Looking good Al and Gina.
Have you though about fabricating a soil screen to separate the rock.
An angle iron frame and some rebar mesh.
