What is the collectors market looking like for Turbo Buicks right now? 01:03 You mean Regal Limited turbo. No T. Just Regal Limited turbo. "Turbo T" was name reserved for turbo Regals with the WE4 package. You may have heard other turbo Regals called a Turbo T, but this is incorrect.
Back in my street racing days with my notch back 5.0 mustang, everyone was scared of the Grand Nation and Regal T-type. Even guys with Vettes were intimidated. A Grand Nation or T-type with a chip, exhaust and sticky tires was hard to beat.
Didn't check the vinyl top and wire wheel cover options though. Yes I've seen a turbo Regal equipped like that, it was that light metallic baby blue with blue velour interior like the car in the video.
*Yep, an absolute sleeper car and these gems are becoming harder to find unmolested. It's the very rare D-84 (2 tone) gray over silver paint with chrome trim AND with the optional stainless rocker panel. The original owner purposely ordered a street sleeper killer and specifically optioned it to look like a Grandpa car and put nearly $20k into the drivetrain. Other than the aftermarket dual stainless exhaust, factory bubble 3.8 SFI TURBO and turbine wheels it looks like a basic old man's GM G body, slow and sluggish smogger car. Unbeknownst to the casual observer it sports 487 HP and well over 558 lb./ft. of torque.*
Did the '87 T type come with the trans to diff rail like the GNXs had, and also, what other improvements? Did they come from McLaren with some mods? Just interested to know...
One of my high school girlfriends, her mom had a 2 tone burgundy 87 GN. That car was insanely quick and would roast the rear tires with 4 people in it.

@@imschlodes 86...235/330...87...245/355. I owned an 87 GN from 1995-2000 that was pretty well modded but had the stock trans and tired valve springs, still ran a 12.6@109 mph w/ 1.91 60 ft time and got 27 mpg 9n the freeway. Atleast I owned one ICON in my life😁
Back in the day,,,,two older brothers would come up to a local cruising spot near Midway Airport in Chicago. One guy with a silver ‘87 T-Type,,,his brother with a super rare T-type that was a light pinkisk champagne color. It had a bench seat and the shifter on the column. That had to be a rare configuration. We would drag race off every light! Those were the days.
Those Bench T Types were built for law enforcement. They call them FBI specials.
I'd be happy to have a regular Regal. But this would be great. I love 80s cars. Especially the velour interiors
Yes that motor was born of the high bank ovals , but yes it ruled the straight 1320
How was it born on the high banked ovals exactly?
@@DrewLSsix the motor was developed for gms indy program originally
is that the same as the 3800 v6s in the buick park avenues ? just no turbo
@@randomrazr yes it's the exact same internals and compression as a 1980 3.8 century, hell yes just slap a turbo on and its fast. Now give your mom her phone back
@@randomrazr Don't forget the LeSabres too. My buddy had a '94 LeSabre Custom with the 3800, and another buddy has a '91 Regal with the 3800. Great engines! Absolutely unbreakable.
"makes 245 HP" my ass. That was literally a lie to keep insurance rates down. You don't get a 3500lb car to 60 in around 5 seconds with 245hp of an 80s engine.
I know my OCD is a bit weird here, but the third brake light is out lol
not required in 1987
cs292 but it’s there and it’s out, and if it’s there and it’s out it is actually a ticketable offense.
Same thing goes for all those Pontiacs in the 90s and early 2Ks with their driving lights, not required here like they are in some countries but if they are out it’s still a violation.
My OCD is showing also because the 3.8 turbos in 1987 were rated at 355 lb.ft of torque not 330!!
What’s more sleeper is, with a few simple tweaks, you could easily add another 100hp and lop another full second off your 0-60 times.
The Darth Vader black paint color on the GnX LoL 👍🏼 perfect way to describe it
These are cool. There's a silver one around here that's just awesome.
If I ever invent a time machine, I'm heading back to 1987 to pick up two GNXs. One to enjoy and one to just drool on.
When you go back , get the extended warranty on it as well. Take it from a former owner.
'Button-tufted' velour! Ahh, the '70's/'80's...❤😄
I really, really want one of these. I don't think I would trade my GN for one but I really, really want one.
Very cool. Good presentation.
The 200 4R transmission was the weak link. My kid’s ‘86 GN went through three of them.
One of the best sleepers of all time, by far.
Hands down, the best way to order this car.
What is the collectors market looking like for Turbo Buicks right now? I've had a gold '87 T for about 10 years, but totally lost interest shortly after I bought it. 45,000 original miles, original paint, no dents....really nice example. I know the market too a hit awhile back, but I'd love to get this car to an enthusiast who would appreciate it, if I could get back what I paid for it.
Very nice 😀
Guy around the corner has one of these. Faded paint and a few dings. Still a daily driver
01:03 You mean Regal Limited turbo. No T. Just Regal Limited turbo. "Turbo T" was name reserved for turbo Regals with the WE4 package. You may have heard other turbo Regals called a Turbo T, but this is incorrect.
You are correct. And there is also a difference between T Type and Turbo T. Some people get confused.
That 85 mph speedometer kind of kills the fun of a car with that much performance.
rather it go to 85 then have question marks after that lol. that was mostly for insurance reasons
But that speedo pegs QUICK
Back in my street racing days with my notch back 5.0 mustang, everyone was scared of the Grand Nation and Regal T-type. Even guys with Vettes were intimidated. A Grand Nation or T-type with a chip, exhaust and sticky tires was hard to beat.
Bucket list car.
I remember seeing one of these when i was young and being so confused it wasn’t black, lol. But what a great car i love it!.
I saw one once a long time ago and thought the same thing.
Didn't check the vinyl top and wire wheel cover options though. Yes I've seen a turbo Regal equipped like that, it was that light metallic baby blue with blue velour interior like the car in the video.
I’d love to get my hands on a Fox Body Mustang in pristine condition.. there’s still plenty out there but not many in mint condition.
That came out of nowhere! This is a Buick video... stay focused.
My buddy has an 87 Regal Limited turbo T. Dark burgundy, 60k original miles.
*Yep, an absolute sleeper car and these gems are becoming harder to find unmolested. In the past 30 years I've had a 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am (3.8 turbo), 1 GMC Typhoon (4.3 turbo), 3 Turbo-T Limiteds, 3 Grand Nationals and currently have a 1987 Turbo-T with 48,000 original miles. Unbeknownst to the casual observer it sports 487 HP and well over 558 lb./ft. of torque.*
God I miss my 84 grand national.
Did the '87 T type come with the trans to diff rail like the GNXs had, and also, what other improvements? Did they come from McLaren with some mods? Just interested to know...
Oh, by the way, that's a beautiful car! I think I personally like it better than the GNXs. Thanks for the video.
Sean Penn still drives a black grand national. ooooooh, you can be a bad ass too!
One of my high school girlfriends, her mom had a 2 tone burgundy 87 GN.
That car was insanely quick and would roast the rear tires with 4 people in it.
Love my Buick Century :-)
It's a good car, I've got an '88 Regal Limited. No way would I ever part with it, unless it was to a collector of some sort.
Always loved these cars ! Could never afford one had to settle for the all look no fast 1987 Monte SS for my first car lol
Thank you. Memories
I would love to see one of two things happen from this. 1. The new version of this same car. 2. A new V8 version of this. A T-Type LeSabre would not be a bad idea either.
Not as a front drive car...
