The F-stop ICU has an foam insert in the lid that you can take out. Insert the ICU in the Lotus, fold the (now empty and foldable) lid under the ICU and voila! When you open the back of the bag you have direct acces to your gear ;). You can also attach the ICU to the Lotus on the sides (look for the orange tabs and velcro the ICU in them). That way the ICU in pressed against the back and your stuff doesn't fall out when walking. Greetings from a fellow Lotus user :).
I'm glad you pointed this out and you're absolutely right! I should have mentioned the foldable lid and the attachable velcro sides, which is definitely the way to go! For some reason I'm not necessarily a fan of keeping the ICU open, mainly because it's more exposed to the contents in the bag. Although I have used the heck out of this bag and find it super durable and protective.

And I have to say that with the velcro tabs attached to the sides I never had anything fall between the icu and the backpanel but I use the shallow icu's so there's always something behind the icu pressing it against the backpanel. Thanks for throwing this all together. I had actually bought the Tent 10 a while ago and it's a really good insert, but I haven't really found a backpack that I really like to use it with. It was helpful that you had the 9 because I was going to get that and pair it with an Osprey Daylite but it looks like it won't quite be enough. I ended up getting the Wandrd prvke lite and it does the job pretty well, with some quirks. PolarPro has said that if the 50L bag does well, they'll probably make a 20L version so that's exciting too. Honestly though, I just wish Osprey would make a camera bag already haha.
No problem! I noticed there wasn't a terrible amount of info on combinations like this when I was researching to do it and figured I tried to squeeze it into a video. I haven't tried any PolarPro stuff, but they look quality. The Wandrd prvke lite looks awesome too, I might have to put that on my list of bags to try. That low profile look with all the convenience looks fantastic! I'm glad you found the video helpful with Tenba bags, the sizes are definitely something to consider, especially if you need room for other things. But, yeah I agree Osprey needs to saddle up and make a camera bag already!

Nice video. But you do realize the Fstop icu cover is bormally stored with the icu open and not zipped closed? I saw another video complaining about the same thing and wondered why people don't know this.

Thanks for the video, camera backpack without side access is just a storage bag, I don't want to put the pack down on the floor in order to get access to the gears, especially in wildlife photography where time is the asset, you must act fast to capture that precise moment, so that Think Tank Rotation is the other pack on my most wanted list.

I really like my Tenba BYOB 9. Fits my Olympus em1 II + 12-40mm f2.8 pro + 40-150mm f4 pro (either attached) and even have space to cram in a smaller lens like the 20mm f1.7. The optional tote is super handy as well:)

I actually found for me what seems to look like the perfect bag - welll only if the price wouldnt be this high.
It is the Atlas Athelte. It has everything I need in a backpack but additionally to being super expensive it is only available if Id import it, so thats sadly no option for me.

Hiking backpack of choice + insert cubes has been my go-to setup for years. Big name hiking brand exist in a bigger market than camera backpacks. They know their stuff, proven history/experience and comfort is a priority. Most camera backpack makers have organization/function as the primary objective and comfort always an after thought. Often sacrificed/tradeoff like Peak Design does.
Have you ever tried Shimoda Designs backpack? Think they are the only camera backpack mfg which focus/emphasize on comfort. Example: they have adjustable torso shoulder straps etc. IMO, it is just as comfy as my Osprey pack.
