I’ve owned three Deep Blue watches over the years including a Master 1000. I agree with all of your points Aron. It is big and chunky and not very subtle - sometimes that’s exactly the kind of watch that I’m in the mood for. My only complaint is the lume, which is pretty weak for a diver. I understand that higher-level Deep Blues are much better. What adds to my recent irritation with Seiko is brought to crisp focus by the Deep Blue Watches that I have. For $50 less than an SKX, a Deep Blue Master 1000 or NATO Did ver 300 gives you a hacking and hand-winding NH35 movement, a sapphire crystal, more water resistance, applied indices, and I’ve never, ever, had a misaligned chapter ring or bezel insert. The optional bracelet has solid end-links and a milled clasp. Why is Seiko falling behind these micro-brands when it should have a huge advantage in economies of scale in manufacturing, component parts cost, and automation?
Lee K You make great points. I was considering a seiko turtle , but my buddy showed me deep blue. I feel like I might take the plunge. I honestly don’t want to deal with alignment issues of Seiko.
Jared, now you’ve seen a Deep Blue and weren’t scared away by the size, I think you can safely consider something from their line of watches. I’ve been disappointed by Seiko lately, with a good 50% of them affected by cosmetic issues ranging from misaligned chapter rings to sloppy lume application to a $1000 Tuna with a quartz movement whose second hand didn’t hit a single one of the index marks. I still like Seiko design and hope they get their act together in the near future.
Thank you for a great review. I was on the fence trying to decide if I wanted to take the plunge on a Master 1000 but you pushed me over. Purchased the Matte Yellow and it exceeded my expectation..... very high quality finish, the bezel is tight with no back play, the silicon custom band is very comfortable and is not a lint magnet like others and IMO the lume is good... while it may not last as long as other lumes it charges beautifully from the sun. As I am not a diver I can’t say how effective it is or isn’t.... from a desk divers point of view it checks all the boxes at a very reasonable cost. Thanks again.
I just bought a Deep blue daynight t-100 and just love it! I'm 6'3 with a 7.5in wrist and it looks great on me but! boy they are a big watch so be aware....
Deep blue makes some nice watches I had a sea ram from eBay in rotation for 2 years and sold it on eBay for more than I originally paid for it , that makes this buy sell trade game a lot more fun, and I will have another deep blue eventually!!
One of the least expensive, but most accurate watch I own. It wears smaller than the case size suggests and just “fits”. I love this watch and own three, EXCEPT for the pointless helium valve (no big deal) and these two things - First, lume. Lume is weak and fades fast on all of mine. It’s terrible, but may be better on newer versions. Second and even more irritating is the hour hand. For some reason, designers thought it would be cute to take a watch with bad low light visibility and make the hour hand thinner, with even less lume, than the minute hand ! The hour hand vanishes in low light. Two of my three versions were sold by previous owners because of that hand. I thought it wasn’t a big deal and bought them. Well, It is ! Add a hour hand that matches the minute hand width and it’s an almost perfect watch IMO. Good review !
Finding this video a bit late but I love your videos! I've considered getting a Deep Blue or a Promaster, but seeing what they offer for under 400 it's hard to really justify any other diving watch for diving/snorkeling.
Davemac1116 Yes, I see the SKX in the dial a bit myself. It's a big watch, but feels surprisingly comfortable on the wrist. Definitely a tool watch with good capabilities. Have a good one!
I have been looking for another dive watch similar to my Seiko 200M, that has disappointed me due to the winding rotor binding. I have removed the back and using a watch makers tool set tried to adjust the rotor screw but it binds when winding and the watch loses about 5 minutes a day. I looked at the Orient Dive watches only to find that they are owned by Seiko and had my eye on this Deep Blue, but you state in the video that the movement is also Seiko. Sorry but I cannot make myself take risks at $200 a pop like that. I have a $80 Invicta Dive that has given me no problems and may go back to it as a daily wearer. Thanks for the video. It was very informative.
Orient was only fully purchase by Seiko like 10-12 years ago. They have their own his and have been active for many decades. They are still their own brand with in house movements. They may use some Seiko movements, but also use their own, still at affordable prices.
Aron, Thanks for the review! I have several Deep Blue pieces and they are a fantastic deal for the buck. The previous poster mention weak lume and in my opinion, that's a fair point. However, I don't think its the worst by a long shot. With that said, models with the Tritium Tubes are great...you may want to take a look at those sometime. One last thing for you and your subs, consider customer service with DB. Although most of us will not need it due to their high quality, some folks in and around the watch forums have had mixed results as have I. Getting email responses or follow-up on parts has been terrible in my experience. If they would ramp up there CS, they would be damned near perfect IMHO. I believe these are hidden gems, especially when compared to what Seiko has been offering in this price range, All the best & keep them coming Aron! _Scott in NC
Thanks Scott. I think the customer service issues kind of plague many of these small micro brands suffer. I see many mixed results, although the same can often be said of big guys like Seiko. Luckily, I've never had an issue with any DB I've owned. But, that being said, customer service should be any companies main priority, especially in today's social media driven world. Thanks for great, thoughtful comments. Cheers buddy 😎👍
Chris Walls Its a really nice watch. The Mondragon benefits being the ceramic bezel insert and slightly better bezel action. Beyond that, it a really personal preference, especially in the nh35 version. I like the Pepsi version on blue silicone. Cheers buddy 😎👍
I own the same type of watch. Strangely, the blue bezel color, is much darker on my watch. There is less difference (contrast) between the black and blue on my watch. I don´t mind it though. In a way, I was always hesitant about the two tone bezel. I does only make sense on a GMT watch. Deep Blue does offer wide range of interesting color chooses on most of there models. Sadly the very best ones are often sold out. I think I will regret that I was not braver in my color choose, in the future.
Christian Gonzalez I hear you. They make some really nice watches. I remember them pioneering a lot of things we see in many microbrand dive watches these days. Always offer great value for the money. Cheers 😊👍
Top value for money, nice looking, looks solid. Thoughts on the choice of movement? How about this model with a miyota 9015! How's the bezel alignment? Looks like the pip at 12 doesn't align precisely
Peter Sargison The 9015 is a great movement!! The pip was probably me not the watch. It appears to line up fine to me now. I may have had it off a click, sometimes hard to tell behind the camera. Very cool watch all around. Take care 😊👍
Can you comment on how long the lumination stays bright enough to see in the dark. I know they have full-face lum watches as well. Just want to be able to tel time when it's 2 or 3 a.m in the morning.

I just bought white face deep blue for my collection, thank you very much for your tips and review
Deep blue is it one of my favorite watch companies the quality for the money is there I think
I have 3 And one more on the way all have the Sw200 movement I really think the quality exceeds my expectations when I bought them
It's been a while since I've seen a reviewer do a deep blue new video. Thank you and yes I love their watches!
Thanks buddy. I've always been a big fan of Deep blue offerings too!! Have a great weekend!😊👍
Very Good Watch Deep1000

Thank you Robbie!! I appreciate your viewership 😁👍💯
It’s really nice. For some reason it reminds me of the Seiko skx, the way the indices are done. It has a commanding presence on the wrist; quite big.
Davemac1116 Yes, I see the SKX in the dial a bit myself. It's a big watch, but feels surprisingly comfortable on the wrist. Definitely a tool watch with good capabilities. Have a good one!
They actually make a SKX Homage called the Nato Diver.

Aron and Bob you guys have to stop feeding my watch addiction. I like this one a lot, maybe my Mondragon will have to go.

Nice vid Aron! Glad I could send it along for you to check out👍👍
TimeToGo Travel And Timepieces Thanks buddy. Now go back to fishing and drinking beer!!😎👍 Happy vacation bro
Excellent watch. Thanks for a very good review, Aron! Cheers! 👍☀🌞
Gorgeous
I have just ordered a 40mm version. Will I need to use the HRV when I get out of the shower?
Gonna get one soon, bent kinda busy with my mission imposible! casio .
Cool watches! Casio is a great fun brand with so much to offer
Great video mate

Great looking diver. Deep Blue has been around for awhile, but unfortunately they don’t seem to get as much screen time/ reviews.
Christian Gonzalez I hear you. They make some really nice watches. I remember them pioneering a lot of things we see in many microbrand dive watches these days. Always offer great value for the money. Cheers 😊👍
is it a heavy watch to wear on a nano strap ?
Top value for money, nice looking, looks solid. Thoughts on the choice of movement? How about this model with a miyota 9015! How's the bezel alignment? Looks like the pip at 12 doesn't align precisely

For me with deep Blue that hasn't been the problem. Good amount of lume applied.
@@OFD thanks…. Which one has the matte bezel? You said in one of your vids but I forget.
How much is the beat error of this watch ?!( Deviation from the standard time )
I just ordered one in their new 40mm cases.
That is a great size 😎👍
Great review, not familiar with the brand, will purchase one.
This would looks great on shark mesh
Is accurate this watch ?! How seconds deviate this watch from standard clock ( time) .
The version 2 has lumed ceramic bezel. Does anyone know if they improved the lume indicies on the dial????
cool watch…. Looks just like another 2000 Divers watches out there
have you tried the method of looping the end of a nato like I told you?
How do I set the date???
Off topic, but where can I get a woven leather bracelet like you're wearing?
Man, I bought mine on the wharf in Santa Cruz California. I'm always scoping out things for the wrist. I'll try to get a brand for you. 😎👍
Cool video for a cool watch!
Mark P Thanks 😊👍
Nice review 👍
John Klonaris Thank you John!
Nice review, just get last month. Overall quite nice but the lume 👎👎👎👎👎
Very nice diver 👍
Heading your way 😉👍
Damn if Deep Blue didnt go the ridicolous invicta route with stupid dials, abalone. Checkered....
Deep blue sold its soul
I hear you!👍
Did I understand you to say it has Seiko internal parts at 4:45?
"Alright hey gays" - Oof.
My wife calls it my "Guido Seiko". I like it. Don't love it.
Nun Ya 😂😂....You’re wife wins the months of May and April in my book.
Nun Ya if this comment doesn’t get pinned I’m never watching this channel again..lol

She hit the nail on the head with that. I can admit. I'm proud of her. She's usually just a nag. 😂
Excellent watch. Thanks for a very good review, Aron! Cheers! 👍☀🌞
